I studied this film for school, and the scene where both sides cease fighting once they glimpsed the newborn baby just stunned my class into impressed silence. Talk about an underrated film!
I saw this in a half-full theater a while after it had come out. During the last 30 minutes, I don't think anyone said a word, moved in their seats or even coughed. No one talked as they left the theater in complete silence.
@@rasharddavis321 Carrying a 10 minute scene as an actor is tough. You receive all this visual direction to kneel in certain places, sit or stand in others, etc. And with how many actors there are, it just takes one small mistake from anyone to need to restart the whole take

15 years since this Sci fi classic was released! Time flies, as it also has been exactly 10 years since Drive, the film that introduced neon noir as a genre.
2027 is when this movie takes place. In two years, we have witnessed pandemic, war, social media, and politics tear our entire world apart. We are more divided than we are unified. This movie affirms one absolute truth: Unless we make life the top priority in all of our actions or decisions, our fate will be the same as the dreadful future this movie depicts. No amount of technology or social justice warfare will ever justify what we do if we do not make life a reason for building a better future.
History tends to repeat itself. Too many people caught up in culture wars. "In the current, digitized world, trivial information is accumulating every second, preserved in all its triteness. Never fading, always accessible. Rumors about petty issues, misinterpretations, slander. All this junk data preserved in an unfiltered state, growing at an alarming rate. It will only slow down social progress, reduce the rate of evolution. The digital society furthers human flaws, and selectively rewards development of convenient half-truths. Everyone withdraws into their own small gated community, afraid of a larger forum. They stay inside their little ponds, leaking whatever "truth" suits them into the growing cesspool of society at large. The different cardinal truths neither clash nor mesh. No one is invalidated, but nobody is right. Not even natural selection can take place here. The world is being engulfed in "truth." And this is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper." - dialog from Kojima's magnum opus circa 2001

Movies aren’t just made because it’s a good story... The same is true for this warning tale. This is a true story of what happens to Homozygous populations after awhile. But I don’t think they understand that pale skin and straight hair are the result of inbreeding. Homozygous bodies suffer from Parkins disease, Spina Bifida, depression, suicide, inability to control heats, skin cancer, Altsheimer’s Disease, deafness, blindness, cystic fibrosis, the list goes on and on... Gregor Mendel first discovered (maybe he did/maybe he didn’t..) the loss of vital proteins in plants when the colour was lost. The takeaway is as the movie clearly states the pale people; in order to survive must mate with heterozygous people and restore the depleted carbon deposits needed for their bodies to be able to become fertile again. Me thinks that’s too much for ppl’s ego... They would rather die.

One of the greatest film scenes in history. Period.
Happy 15th anniversary to the cast and crew of _Children of Men._
This is probably one of the greatest shots in the history of filmmaking. I love cinematography.

I think that’s the case for every theater and movie
Emmanuel Lubezki is fucking AWESOME at long-shot cinematography!
Cinematographers, I mean, sure,
But the actors though
