Spy is probably the one of most unique game design in the world, tell me one multi player game where you can fool the enemy by disguising as them and have a panic mode when you think you got found out but actually they have no idea most of the time.

That's true! It's unique for sure!

when you do play spy don't be discouraged if you cant get as many kills as spy is one of the hardest classes to play as, as there is a lot of things to wrap your head around such as invisibility, backstabbing and disguising which all take a lot of time to learn and understand.
    but some tips for spy
    1. if you use the disguise kit you move as fast as a class you disguise as but cant go any faster then the spies movement speed so if you disguise as scout you will be obviously much more slower than a normal scout and it's very obvious.
    2. the invisibility watch can be refilled with ammo.
    3. if you bump into someone while invisible you'll do something called a shimmer where you're partially transparent but still sort of visible so try not to run into anyone.
    4. you can use the Sapper while disguised however a stab with the knife or shot with the revolver will remove your disguise.
    5. when you disguise it creates a cloud of smoke around you and if you go invisible just after disguising the smoke still persists a little bit so it makes it easy to know were you are if enemies are chasing you so make sure to go invisible first and then disguise.
but anyway keep it up and love the videos my man :D

Don't forget that while disguised you get your regular movement speed back when cloaked

Hey! spy main here.spy... dosnt really have a best knife. or worst knife. they all coexist as different kind... ways to play him. Stocks consistent. big earners fast, kunai is a make or break. spycicle is safer.

Spycicle is arguably just a straight upgrade. If I encounter a pyro that knows I exist, I don’t want to try to kill him, I want to get as far away as possible because 9.5 times out of 10, the pyro wins. It doesn’t even matter that I lose my knife because I wasn’t going to fight him anyway.

if you want to learn how to Rocketjump, then watch Soundsmith guides to Trolgier.
Also there is an amazing SFM animation about Rocketjumping culture named "Zero to Hero".

the big earner is actually generally considered a "useable but not that great" knife. mostly overshadowed by stock and the kunai. the mann's guide video mostly there to teach how to use in the same "useable but not that great" tier, but also mostly eccentric weapons (Force-a-Nature: big knockback, Beggar's Bazooka: Barrage and reload/fire mechanic, Big Earner: Speed and Cloak on kill in exchange for 25 max health)

everyone will say stock or the kunai is best, but due to the way the game is, other than stock nothing can be considered the best, it mostly depends on preference and what you're up against, cuz if you asked me i would call "the big earner" and the "your eternal reward" the best, but most other people would call those two the worst

    • @formattedorc
      @formattedorc  10 месяцев назад +3

Your eternal reward sounds really cool!

To answer your question about stock weapons- universally (except for Medic and debatably Engineer), the stock loadout for a class is the most versatile. If you equip an unlockable weapon, you are choosing to specialize into what that unlockable weapon focuses on, and there is (almost) always a downside that makes you less versatile for switching away from stock. Here's some examples:
Scout can equip the Mad Milk in order to be able to provide support for his team- it's a throwable item that splashes milk onto enemies, and any teammate dealing damage to enemies drenched in milk heals said teammate by a sizable chunk of the damage they deal. The downside? You have to replace your pistol with the milk, meaning you're losing access to your secondary weapon and are forced to fight using only your scattergun and melee options.
Soldier can equip the Gunboats, which are armored shoes that substantially reduce the amount of damage you take from rocket jumping. This makes a much more mobile playstyle more feasible since you won't be half-dead when you arrive to where you were going, but in order to equip the gunboats, you guessed it, you have to give up your secondary weapon, leaving you with only your rocket launcher and melee options.
Pyro can equip the Flare Gun, which is an incredibly powerful combo tool. It fires a fast-moving flare that deals 30 damage and ignites anyone it hits, and as a bonus, if the target is already on fire, it instead deals critical damage for a whopping 90 damage punch that will leave most classes sprinting for health in order to not die from afterburn. However, the flare gun replaces your shotgun, which means a few things. One, you lose access to the consistent burst damage of the shotgun in return for the combo ability of the flare gun, and two, it means you're pretty helpless against enemy pyros, since pyro is immune to afterburn and you cannot do more than 30 damage to them with a flare (outside of niche situations where you can cheese the mechanic).
Demoman can equip the Loose Cannon, which replaces his primary grenade launcher with a blunderbuss. The Loose Cannon fires huge cannonballs that knock enemies around on impact and detonate on a timer that you can 'cook' by charging the shot. If you time a hit perfectly such that the target is hit by both the cannonball and the explosion, you get a Double Donk that deals minicrit damage and is incredibly satisfying. However, charging your shots eats up time you could be spending reloading the thing, which means that in exchange for the skillshot potential and the knockback ability, you're weakening demo in what is already his biggest weakness: the time it takes him to reload his weapons. Demo's reloads are slow by design to counterbalance his immense power, and the loose cannon forces you to step out of combat in order to reload way more often, and can mean the difference between being able to fight off someone rushing you or dying because all your guns are empty and they won't get in melee range.
I could go on, but I think that's enough examples for now. There are over a hundred unlockable weapons in this game, and almost all of them have tradeoffs like the ones I went over in this comment. Generally, you're absolutely safe just going full stock loadouts because the stock kits for every class (except Medic, who really needs the Crusader's Crossbow to flesh out his kit properly) are really well-designed and powerful.

    Spy's #1 weapon is stock.
    #2 Kunai

14:00 in TF2 we call them Taunts, what was the style at the time.

The rule of thumb for any weapon
99% of the time stock is the best choice for all rounder capability of that class. It’s the reliable and consistent option.
Weapon unlocks are mainly more niche. The big earner here, like described, you trade survivability for mobility.
The dead ringer you trade on demand cloak for easy escape power.

Not a huge deal and I don’t mean to be nitpicky but in TF2, the animations that you can make your character do are called “taunts” not “emotes.” Some people don’t like it when others call them emotes because we ain’t no Fortnite or Overwatch. We were here long before them and we’ll be here long after them.
