  • Blue crabs are a serious menace to many other animals in the Mediterranean. Declining fish stocks are a problem for fishermen in Tunisia. Now, some have taken to catching the crabs instead. Around the world, invasive species are upending ecosystems.

We eat a different species of blue crab in the United States capitol region, our crabs live in the Chesapeake bay. The signature dish is crab cakes, which is basically a croquette of crab meat mixed with egg and breadcrumb. It's common to substitute mayonnaise instead of fresh egg. Economically, you could mix egg white powder with the aforementioned crab protein bio-product to replace bread crumbs, and then sell something equivalent to the Japanese shrimp burger.

Blue crabs are excellent eating. They are easy to catch, boil them like you would crawfish, and then they are easy to eat. The blue crab are common here in Texas. During the summer my buddies and I would spend the days crabbing along the marsh, then have a crab boil in the evening. Those were good times. Start using crab traps, makes catching them mush easier.

More Filipino got rich because of this blue crab. They dont use nets but use bamboo basket that submerge in the sea and left it overnight. They use several bamboo basket and each basket can catch 10kilos of blue crab plus other types of fish. They can harvest everyday almost 200kg of crabs everyday. They sell it at 300 peso ( 6 USD) per kilo to the retailer and the retailer sold it for 400 peso (8USD) per kilo. Very easy work because they drop only the basket in the sea from 6pm to 8pm and then they will return in the morning at 4am to 6am to harvest the basket.

The life form can be plant, two legged, four legged, finned ones, winged ones or the ones that creep and crawl. With climate change and the loss of habitat through greed of natural resources.
