It’s Incredible how many people in the world can be helped with the amount of money that is spent on wars.
War generate money as well that's why they exist
Wars also push technology
@Mohammed Al-Kaabi They arent necessarily justifying war (yes, not just the west goes to war), but everything they said it true, if unfortunate
Wars are more important. I want to kill every tyrant in the world. They are the real roots of this poverty problem. Cheers from Russian Tyranny.
@Mohammed Al-Kaabi BS
30+ years of Charity organizations and it ended up taking an individual person to donate the equipment for clean water.
It shows that the only way a people can advance is by their own hand.
mismanagement man. These charities would rather spend 1300 on a week's worth of bottled water than put effort into creating a good water system for the same amount. When your business is giving away money and you get a percentage of that money your goal is to git rid of it a quickly as possible whether or not it does any good.
@Sum Dup Depends. You have Red Cross in Germany that ensures shelter for hundreds of thousands of people, free clothing for homeless, poor meals, kindergartens, financial aid for poor families, old people's homes for people with low pensions and so on.
@@TheSlayerZach ofcourse! We are capable of so many good things!
@albert einstien true, thats why i never gave to charity but to ppl directly
The world *needs* more people like him. Think of how many people we could help if we stopped fighting eachother
that's not profitable for the sharks that hold the power. The sharks don't need billions of people inhabiting "their" lands (yes, they autoproclaim themselves gods, with full rights over everyone and their lands) and consuming "their" resources. That's why they fund and start wars: to reduce the world's population to a controllable amount over which they are sole gods and rulers

How does granite filter out germs?? The whole ordeal also feels really ad-like, with the endless endorsements and portraying people without clean water somehow worrying about carbon emissions.
It doesnt filter out germs...just rough particles.
But yeah this is mostly bs
Granite only creates the conditions for elimination of germs, we us it because it has particular properties that are useful for this purpose and its not just a mechanical process, it is mainly a biological one. I would also not say that the people without clean water somehow worry about carbon emissions but rather us trying to provide the safe water they don't have without endangering the environment.
@@othienohenry7436 what antimicrobial properties does granite possess?
It’s an emotional grift. Someone most likely got public funds or grant in the name of “green renewable deal” and that’s the “economic development project” that made it all compliant. They need to put them in a well with a solar powered pump and/or hand pump and they might not even need a filter. But then they’ll need some guns and ammo to prevent whoever will want to seize it and claim it as there’s. They might want to start with the “innovative green technology” first...

Its a scam
$1,200 USD for a small filtration system that looks like it should cost $100?
this is a scam, god damn it the comment section is either full of gullible people or they are troll accounts to make positive comments. they have been trying to sell innovative, groundbreaking, and cost-effective filtration systems in Africa for decades yet they still can't adapt one of those "inventions" as their standard filtration system.
By "should cost $100" you mean the bucket one? Or the larger-scale one? If the former then it would look suspiciously expensive, but the latter?
@@revimfadli4666 The home based one appeared to be just some simple PVC piping, a pre-filter and one reverse osmosis filter.
Very little competition and the fact that areas are isolated means this filtering firm can charge prices similarly to a monopolist. Furthermore, higher transportation costs due to poor infrastructure in Uganda lead to higher input prices.
@@sanjuansteve sure, but was it the one which costs $1200? Or maybe OP misunderstood and thought the home-based bucket one costs $1200(when $100 would make more sense), even though it likely referred to the school/village-scale one with more elaborate plumbing?
I LOVE IT! Installing filters AND planting new trees!!! Hittin' the problem from BOTH angles!!! Right on! Keep up the phenomenal work! :D
This is impressive... I see great potential in improving safe drinking water ... How do I get involved?

you can't stop the little hat people.
the system cost $1200, which is equal to about 100 solar heaters, which can boil water and cook
I'm very sceptical that a simple sediment filter can clean any microorganisms from the water, my opinion is that the community will be better off digging a couple of deep wells.

Seems fishy to me i searched online what that sand is, but it says only granite powder, how can granite powder filter water to drinking level water?
@@ShayaqRaza In water treatment plants the sand filters are meant to filter out the larger impurities of the treated water but the main fogginess of the water is removed with coagulation and there must always be disinfection of the water.

I love my country and how resilient our people are becoming
Indeed we are resilient
I like the idea of planting "Muringa" tree or "Drum Stick Tree" whenever a plant is installed. The leaves of the are one of the best source of Iron, which is very essential for young girls and mothers to avoid Anemia. The leaves can be just boiled with salt and sauteed with grated coconut and it tastes great. They can also boil the leaves and make tea / soup out of it. Same goes with the vegetables and flowers of this tree. A staple here in South India and easy food to consume. Kudos to the thinkers!
This is a great idea but I wonder if granite and other sediment is enough to filter out pathogens? It seems like it only removes the large dirt and dust particles giving the water its yellow color but I can’t imagine all germs being removed by a simple filtration process
May be, but I think far better to drink that than drink the writer directly n for killing germs they just need to boil again I think.
Initially yes - if it's fine enough. But it reaches saturation very quickly. There's a reason activated charcoal filters are used by practically everyone.

@@martinerhard8447 does that mean the end product is safer rather than totally safe?
DW news. We appreciate you.
Ths seed pods of the moringa tree can also be used to purify water, after the oil ahas been pressed out. I saw a video of them doing that in Senegal.
I've seen a project where they kept water in transparent plastic bottles for several hours in direct sunlight (which they have plenty during the day in those regions, and the UV light killed most of the pathogenic germs. This simple and cheap method maybe could be used as a pre-purification step to make those filters last longer.
Plastic in direct sun leads to leeching of carcinogens.. Glass or other material is safer chemically
In India a college student has developed a portable water cleaning device that clean water on the spot, you just need a plastic bottle on which that filter will be placed. The best thing about that filter is that you can purify 20L of water with a single piece and the cost of a single piece is Rs 20 ($0.25 US) which I believe is very cheap.
I'm not sure it's rechargeable. If it's on the net, please send in the link 🙏.
@@wofakwame4163 also it isn't rechargeable but that makes up for its price as I've already told you it's 20rs ($ 0.25) for purifying 20L (5.3 galleons) of water.

Fantastic but..
The normal water treatment in Europe uses the same method but in a larger scale-infiltration dams.
You build it up with layers of sand and drain the cleaned water after passing the sand.
Good great please bring these type of filters to India because in the rural areas villages we need it.
You can make an even better filter using a large PVC pipe then use granite, sand and activated charcoal for a perfect filter.

Who are you asking to help you? Ugandans are well able to help themselves. Museveni is not perfect, but you don't want to become another Libya. So many innovations are happening in Uganda more than those countries that elect a new president every 5 years. Look at your neighbor Congo?
This is EXCELLENT CONTENT!
You lost me at "Access to clean water is a human right."
No. It is not.
This is a highly abbreviated explanation, but this is the basic logic of why clean water is not a human right (this applies to any commodity though).
The phrase "A human right" implies that you should always have it, whether you can provide it out of your own resources or not.
But if you are unable to provide it out of your own resources, yet are still guaranteed to have it, that means someone else must provide it for you.
To guarantee someone is providing it for you, you must either pay them, or if you are unable to pay or unable to find someone willing to do it for pay, then it means you force them to provide it to you against their will, and possibly free of charge.
Forcing someone to provide labor or services against their will and free of charge is called human slavery.
Ergo, the statement "clean water is a human right" logically requires the corollary statement "Slavery is a human right."
Since enslaving others is not a human right, water (or any commodity) can not be a human right.
I am sorry to say, but even if granite filtration is good it is no substitute for boiling. It is better to use both methods together. filtration alone makes no miracle. it just helps against big microbest, but viruses can and still do remain in the water if it is not heated or clorinated. there is also wax filtration, it is better to clean smaller patogens but even it does not protect against pathogens, please tell that to the ugandans. sincerely a brazilian who used the system.
