'Sri Gurubhyo Namaha' to Thiru. Umayalpuram Sivaraman and to Sri. Anindo Chatterjee.... wow two stalwarts playing the greatest of Bharatiya percussion instruments. What great 'avardhanam' from them! The 'omkara naadham' emanating from these instruments is unmistakable. That is the beauty of Bharatiya percussion instruments. (Om Namah Shivaya! Om Namo Narayanaya! Jai Mahalakshmi! Jai Shakti!) And Thiru. Sivaraman sir at 85 yrs of age. A living legend among us! Delightful 🙏🙏🙏 thanks for sharing this clip.

The format of the "thani" in carnatic music is such that the Mridangham tends to leads, and other percusiinist follow. This normally ends up being th case, even if there is a tabla in the ensemble as happened here. Both are masterful drummers, and I love them both.

As of this writing there are 213 dislikes - good thing there are more than 4500 likes. While I respect ‘dislike’s point of view, I am always intrigued and would like to know what it is they disliked and/or what their expectations were and how this did not meet.
If only they knew that Sri UKS (Sivaraman) is 80+ and at that age many people cannot sit on the floor or do not have dexterity in their hand/fingers. He is playing like a 20 year old energetic bunny, and with such perfection. That alone is worthy of tremendous accolades and ‘likes’. Alas, it is their loss, if they don’t get it!

South classical vocal dance n in instruments veena violin flute morsing ghatam n mrudangam world famous. Called carnataka sangeet of thyagaraja rama bhakt.

Getting information from him only Mr. Rajiv menon made the film Sarvam thala mayam.

OMG, the complexity of the patterns and the speed with which the mridangam jambavan played the mohra korvai show the experience he has in this field(>60yrs) and the practice of 10 hours a day
MAN!!!!! The tabla player couldn't hold a candle to the laya cintamanih and he would have been blessed to have played with him for atleast once in a lifetime. See the astonishment at 3:55
Not to forget, notice the violin duo enjoying it to the fullest See the right side player getting confused as to which side to look at at 3:22 to 3:30
UKS na summa vaa From 4:44 to 5:06, it is something out of this world
