Hey brother, thanks for sharing this video. I too have had some challenging times of late however, I am grateful that my skateboard has always been there for me to help deal with the hills and valleys of life.
I’m sorry to hear of your troubles, I guess that’s how life is you know? Sometimes it hurts so much it’s like nails in the ears, and my heart goes out to you. Skateboarding has always been my friend during the worst and best parts of life, please lean on it even if it’s just daydreaming about the next session. Sometimes the only way we can go is up.
It's definitely true especially when it comes to slappy combos because if you watch Bev skate slappys, he uses 60mm SFF4 classics, he does some of the craziest slappy combos LOL.. you can skate slappy with the other shapes as you stated but it wont be easy or even possible, depending on your experience and expertise, to do some of those crazy slappy combos..
Oh yeah for sure, combos can definitely be done on the other shapes and sizes. It’s just a lot easier when you use the rounded edge wheels, you don’t have the resistance of the shape fighting against you. Bev rips, he is on a whole different planet when it comes to combos.
Makes sense. Especially after hearing him explain it in depth at 5:20 or so -- having classics gives you the freedom to do crazy combos while the lock-in wheels are more stilted and not very fulfilling at prolonging your slappy grinds.
Crazy timing! I’m just starting to do a wheel comparison project myself 😊 It’s great to hear that you like the Spitfire classics. I’ll add those to the list of wheels to test. 👍
Great minds think alike! I’ve skated every shape and wheel at this point and in terms of slappies the classic spitfire shape is the best one. Good luck with the comparison of wheels, it is an easy topic to get really deep in. It will be cool to see what you come up with in your video.
Woah! Cool, hello from Long Beach, CA! I ride 52mm, perfect size for flipping and slapping. I ride a 8.5 as well, small enough for flips big enough for me.
Spitfire is coming out 4/1 with their formula four 93A wheels call soft sliders, soft Spitfire FF4 that slides like Dragons 93A, in classic and radial shape. You should get a set and review them and compare them to Dragons and other wheels you have tried..
That’s my plan, I wanted to wait to try them out but I won’t have such easy access to my slappy spot by the time I get them. I am looking forward to trying the 93 Reynolds out though. When I get them I’ll definitely do a comparison!
Bummer to hear your going through some stuff wish you the best of luck Bro!👍and i share that opinion on the classic shaped wheels I've never slappyed anything but I notice a difference for any type of shuv it based trick or even kickflips they feel delayed on wider wheels but on the rounded edges wheels the board flips shaper and quicker experienced this lately with the conical fulls I likem but i really wanna go back to some classics lol
Thanks, things are looking up nowadays. I noticed my flips are better on the rounded shapes too, I wonder if that has to do with the tipping point on the wheels, maybe? I’ll probably be done testing wheels for a while, I am on the 93d Spitfires and really like them.
Do yo have a video on the nano cubics?? I found really help me get up on curbs. You are way better at slappys than I am. Just interested in your opinion of them.
I do, I liked them and I found them to be really fun but ultimately the inside straight cut of the wheel made it tough to play around in slaps. Andy Anderson's Nano Cubic, review ruclips.net/video/4rUzo6RDb-Y/видео.html
@@100funsummers I just ordered them, and feel confident about the purchase. I couldn’t seem to get into a crook, from a slappy noseslide. I was riding the conical full, for the past 2 years. I was also thinking that the more narrow shape of the classics, might help with flip tricks?
Any luck? There is a technique that helps if you have your front foot way forward on the nose to apply a lot of leverage to the nose off the end of the curb.
Totally agree, and it's kinda common sense that a conical edge will help the wheel climb a curb better. Especially on the E Coast where curbs typically have a 90 degree face making it harder to climb. Is it me, or do California curbs all seem to have a ramped face making it appear much easier to get into slappies?
Yeah the rounded wheels make it a bit easier but it’s more about not being locked in for me. CA curbs are definitely a little sloped when compared to the east coast and finding a freshly painted red curb is not hard to find.
I’m just about to make a setup for learning slappies, and was wondering which wheels to get. I was thinking either spitfire full conical or classics. I know you recommend classics do they just make doing slappies easier?
Slappies are hard with either wheel, and are a pain to learn especially if you have been used to Ollie’ing into everything. For me I find that the Spitfire classic wheel absolutely makes the process easier. The rounded edges make it a bit easier to get into slappies and they grind better due to less resistance. If you don’t like having room to play around on the curb a conical/tablet/lock-in wheel will hold the curb harder and may make 50/50’s more reliable but as you progress those shapes will hold you back.
Haven’t Ollied into anything for 30+ years. Looking forward to getting into trying slappies. Sure I did them back in the 80’s a little. Shame we don’t have amazing curbs in the UK like you guys. Think I’m going with the classics
It would be good to try each out eventually depending on your terrain. The wider wheels are good for rougher streets, the downside was the shape. Yeah, CA is definitely a curb heaven.
yup i love the F4 classics. imo the classics, with thunders is the best combos. something about the roundness of both the wheel and hanger of thunders gives the best combination of grinds.
I’ve never ridden thunders, always rode Indy’s before switching to Aces about 5 years ago, the slap on Aces is my favorite because of the carve. One day soon I will give Thunders a shot.

Great video man. Looking forward to staying updated with you in your journey. Great energy man, i will be back!

Sorry for your loss man. All the best in your new place. Hope you can find there some great slappy spots!👍🏽👊🏽
Thanks, I appreciate that. Time will help. I got my eye on some slappy spots already.

I also love my Spitfire Classics 54mm on a 8.5" Board. ✌️🤠👌
Whats your wheel size? 55mm?

Gonna miss skating Grandpa’s Spot with you man!
Me too! We will still get it in from time to time! Stoked Grandpas spot has been a bit of a clubhouse, makes all the work worth it.

Ok, sweet. I thought you would say that. And thanks for your response. Your skating is very inspiring.
That means a lot, thank you. Let me know if you have anything you want to see, I’m always looking for new things to try out.
This helped dude. I got my first pair of classics, since like early 2000’s.
Sick! They are great wheels, my favorite for slappys by far. Did you notice a difference?

I like blank decks with bright veneers 😂 zeros skull decks are what I picture when I think of a graphic though.
Zero skulls are so rad, I was always partial to the all black and white skull on the center.
