I really appreciate how honest you are. I’m so sad that Disney has fallen this much…I thought that presentation was so embarrassing, with them announcing nothing and begging the audience to applaud. Just really sad because WDW is my favorite place in the world and I feel like they’re running it into the ground.
I agree, at this rate Universal is going to overtake Disney and become the biggest theme park industry in Orlando. Disney is not doing enough to be the innovators they once where. It’s very disappointing to see how Disney is faltering.
"Disney is faltering" -- I recently went to Hollywood studios, mainly for Star Wars Battu and it was kind of underwhelming. The rides were pretty cool (only 2 - hope they add more in the future), only had 1 food item, was good but it was the shops that disappointed me the most. Dok Ondar's was cool but the rest of the shops were disappointing because they were SO small .. I forget the name, but the shop where you can buy costumes for Jedi or Sith was TINY !!! I can't imagine being there on a busy day. I hope they expand Battu in the future.
Not to mention when I was working at both Disney and universal I was paid better and had better benefits. Universal just tends to treat their TMs better. Both companies are power and money hungry, but I feel like Universal is putting their power in the right direction.
@@mariaholmstead4508 does universal do cheaper health care? Fastpass for cast? Maingates with no blockout? More vacation time? How are the benefits better? Now both get paid 15/hr
One word: lackluster. Just flat out no excitement, no creativity, no steps forward. Just feels like lateral moves from Disney, sometimes even backwards. I'm not upset or worried. I'm more disappointed with the current trajectory. I love the parks now, but you're right. In a few years time, this sort of lack of new projects and the ignoring of the little things (maintenance, entertainment, consumer experiences) and this hyperfocus on retail will put them in a difficult hole. I just need to see some spark from executives. The current ones in charge aren't letting creativity lead the path.
Sorry not Sorry. I hope Universals new Epic Universe puts Disney to shame and finally puts them in their place. They have their eyes opened and come back to reality for people.
It's incredibly disappointing that so much of Disney World is still closed or not returning until a later date. I'm going next month for the first time in nearly five years while paying these absurd prices (not even taking Genie Plus into account) and I feel like I'm getting scammed. It's tacky that Disney is using the pandemic as an excuse to make numerous budget cuts at the parks and still continue to charge an arm and a leg for those wanting to go and experience the magic.
The reason they didn’t announce many big things is because this was NOT an expo. I feel like they’re going to be saving all of those big announcements for the actual D23 Expo next year in 2022. It was funny being there though, because the things they did announce seemed to have very mixed reactions in the crowd, with a few rounds of quiet clapping here and there.
for my next announcement.......drum roll please....we are bringing back trams at the parking lot however you need to book fastpass at 7:00am in order to reserve your tram seat!!!! really disney... Churro's was one of your big announcements.
There are games on VR systems, like "Beat Saber", that do a better job of lightsaber slashing. And I love a retro Star Wars look, but that command/fight screen almost makes Galaga feel good about itself again. For the price point they're charging it's kind of like a middle finger to the face.

I was there and had a pleasant, but underwhelming time. I knew that this wasn't going to be as big though, so I went in with that expectation. The Encanto presentation was really fun. Encanto was amazing. I am hoping that they announce big plans for Figment and his ride. I have dreams of them fixing it into a really magical Figment ride again.
I honestly cannot believe they have not implemented Wall-e into EPCOT in some way, it seems like it would be a no brainer and makes more sense than them adding Moana into the park. It’s my favorite Pixar film. 😢
Hey Kevin; I'm really curious why are you so interested in ANYTHING that company does? They didn't have the courtesy to tell you they were letting you go, and royally screwed you over..and you're STILL supporting them?
I honestly don’t think Disney was screwing him at all. He did say he tried to get tickets to go to the event. It’s a two thousand seat venue, so naturally a lot of people will be left out. He did say it got sold out in seconds. Have you not tried to buy concert tickets, only to find out it’s sold out really quick ? Mind you, you can purchase the concert tickets after the fact, but you get the idea. Nevertheless, the whole thing was lackluster, for sure. But if you are a true Disney fan, just being there and experiencing the other things they had to offer is awesome.
