I think that's part of the process of making the dart heads.
+Eisenheim The best solution I have found is an easy mod for the darts which increases range and accuracy of clip system darts like the elite darts. 1. Using small scissors, cut slit in dart tip starting at the hole. 2. while squeezing dart tip to hold it open, use hot glue gun to fill the space in the dart tip with hot glue. 3. before glue cools, squeeze tip back together to original shape. 4. Trim any excess glue along the slit and hole as needed.
This adds momentum to the dart without weighing it down too much, creates a safe modded dart that will not hurt your target (they will feel the impact more than a non modded dart, but rival rounds from the apollo still have more impact than the modded darts), and fills that hole so it no longer creates an aerodynamic pull on the side with the hole to pull it off target.
This was a great addition to my Raider a couple years back for a Humans vs. Zombies game being played on campus at my college. Between that dart mod and just removing the air restrictor out of my Raider, my blaster was accurate 90% of the time, at least.

You know what's important now, shear volume of fire, unless you use mods or manual calibrate it( adjusting barrel positions) it's really an area weapon.

Spring vs Flywheel. The Stryfe shoots faster, but its ranges are shorter, while the jolt is spring, so it's more accurate, but low rate of fire. Simple.

It's true nerf sniping doesn't make sense in terms of range, but I consider the longer barreled/more accurate guns as snipers.

I wonder if moving the hole to the back of the dart (the bit concealed by the top of the foam) will solve the inaccuracy problems.
The air won't interfere and they still have the soft tip for safety.
Wouldn't that only work on flywheels though? Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

The hole would go right through the harder rubber they use to seat the tip in the foam if that helps explain a bit more.
Like if you have a spare dart around just rip off the tip and you'll see what I mean.

Just to finish the job, you should test the dart velocity and accuracy consistency of a gun with no barrel, a wide barrel (Longstrike), a thin barrel (Retaliator), and a really long barrel (a few Modulus barrels). I'd say to test range too just because why not. Still, that should provide ultimate proof that longer barrels decrease performance and do nothing for accuracy.

I wonder if Coop's ceiling fan affects the darts in any way. It doesn't look like it's on a high enough setting, but then again if a low rotation fan can send them veering off, actual wind in an outdoor game would be ridiculous.
One thing that is overlooked is power and velocity they impact accuracy less powerful blasters are more accurate.

Frank, Love this video. Thank you for producing it. I would like to see the different between a stock Nerf blaster and a modified Nerf Blaster. In particular, does the Aftermarket Flywheel Kit by DRS Performance Parts solve some of the inherent inaccuracy of the Elite darts? Or maybe Koosh darts would work better? Thanks again for the review.

From my past experiences, the Nerf Rivals are excellent guns that are powerful and accurate, so it really just depends on if you want to spend £20. I don't buy a lot, but I've bought an Atlas and I'm impressed

I think nerf should make a rocket blaster has a trigger like the blaster has a huge air tank and you like pump into it like a firestrike and then hit the trigger to shoot and the distance is actually quite far not 70ft maybe like 30-50ft but at least its better than the demolisher rocket thing and the thunderblast (i got this idea because most of my zombie in my nerf war game can only be stunned by rocket and if i bring my demolisher its too bulky for me and the thunderblast is way to big even if i minimize it [by cutting the stock]) but maybe make it like the size of the rapidstrike uzi small but has a lot power in it and if nerf can't fit the air tank they can put it in the back like the firestrike

For a later test, I'd really like to see a demonstration of how the grouping is on modified blasters. For example, shoot some darts out of a stock stryfe, then shoot some darts out of a modified stryfe. If you have a stock spinsanity and still have that one modded spinsanity from a while back, you could do the same test with BOOMco darts. I expect the modified stryfe will have worse groupings than a stock stryfe, because speed magnifies all aerodynamic effects, but the speed also reduces the amount of time the aerodynamic forces have to curve the dart's trajectory.

I would like to see you test some of the less common darts, especially ones that are often touted to have higher accuracy than elite darts. Like the suction head elite darts, or koosh darts.

Come up with a comprehensive measurement for the "Effective Range" (most of the shots landing a hit on a target about a body width apart) of the most popular blasters (i.e. Stryfe/Retaliator/Zeus/Apollo/etc.). I predict the rival rounds will demonstrate a higher effective range due to the tighter grouping and higher power, and the Elite darts from the Stryfe with produce a shorter effective range with it's spray and pray properties. The measurement of the distance in your results would be entertaining to say the least.
