Thank you so much! I have a 2003 Envoy and the set up was exactly the same. I'll estimate this took me no longer than a half hour. The only problem was having to turn myself into a contortionist.
I had no fan speed 1-2-3-4-5...so I saw your video on RUclips and couple days later I decided to try to fix it myself because I took it to a auto shop and got quoted 220 dollars to fix it so I decided to do it myself it was pretty easy to do and the final cost for wire harness and resistor was 76 dollars and took me less then 45 minutes to do... so thank-you for your video it helped me alot
Thanks, drsnug. You helped me to make one of my long time customers happy. None of the speeds worked on the problem unit. Just so everyone knows, I got the resistor out of an '04 Isuzu Ascender and used it on an '06 Chevy Trailblazer. Other vehicles that will also work are ; Buick Ranier, Olds Bravada, GMC Envoy, and there's even a Saab version of this truck.
THANKS!!!!Bought my '05 Envoy (used), with the #5 level, on my A/C-heat control, never working. Oh well, 1-4 worked; didn't worry about it. Now the blower stopped working two days ago; not good for Las Vegas heat. Same thing happened with my auto; the resistor and the 7 prong connector were shot. Acquired both parts, at Autozone, for about $65.00, total. Tedious, time consuming, but you probably saved me a $300 - $400 mechanic bill. I appreciate your posting this video!!BTW... all five levels work, now.
Same exact problem (my blower positions 1 and 5 didn't work) and this was the same resolution on a 2003 SLE Envoy. Thanks for posting this bud. After your video told me where to look for this part, the rest was easy. Appreciate it!
This video was right on! It was exactly what needed replacing on my 2006 GMC Envoy. You did a really good job videoing and explaining what was going on. Keep up the good work. Thanks Ty.
thank you so much for making this video! worked perfectly for my 2006 envoy. i had to get the harness too-- it was melted to the resistor pack as well. Longest part of the job was crimping the connectors together. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video! My symptoms were only high speed working and the strangest part was the blower would not shut off even by shutting off the ignition.
I have a 2005 envoy and I have no heat at all blowing. I can feel the heat but no blowing. I replaced the fuse and that didn’t solve it. Should I try and replace the resister next or the blower motor since it’s not blowing at all and also it hasn’t blown on 4 and 5 in a couple years just on 1 2 and 3 did it blow before stopping all together
thanks man, very helpful - mine only works on 5 now, was 4 and 5 but just lost 4! kinda intense now, so im off to figure out how to fix it...i think this video put me over the top.
Thank you so much for making this video; problem fixed! I will now try to fix the rear blower motor using the same method. Hopefully it's as easy as the front was. Thanks again.
My Wife 2006 Trailblazer Heat N Air Wouldn't Come On. After Watching Your Video Tried Everything You Done..Ran Into The Same Problems As You Did With That Pigtail Didn't Want To Release. After About 30mins I Can Say It's Fixed And The Heat Works On All 5 Settings...So It's A Success!!!
What did you have to do to disconnect the pigtail? I'm having the same issue you did. I recently replaced the resistor so I obviously don't want to damage it in the process.
Russell Wright I need up using a screw driver to pry them apart. I just took my time and tried to not get too frustrated while doing it at the same time trying not to damage the part I was going to try and keep.
coldest day of the winter here - 0 and no heat in my 05 envoy all fuses good I'm thinking it's that bliwer module I am trading it in once good weather comes ether way
I have replaced mine. If it goes bad. Replace the pigtail and the resistor together. It works fine then. They know they have problem with the wire getting hot and that is why, he had such a hard time getting the plug off.
Man! Thanks so much, I have an 06 Trailblazer (basically the same thing lol) this video was a big help.... Sadly I just took it apart and found out my wire harness is also bad.... I hope I can find it cheaper then 90 bucks..... I would have thought that for sure it would cost less then 30???? Oh well thanks again bub
This is SO EASY to get to so I just went to the junk yard & cut off a pigtail and put it in my pocket!!! LOL If it breaks again? I'll put on the 2nd pigtail that I tool off another junker that was in the same JUNK YARD!!! The parts that you can only get at a dealership is BULLSHIT!!! You can buy ANY part for your car at a junk yard!!!! Good luck everyone!!! LOL
My 2005 Chevy trailblazer has the same problem. But none of the speeds work at all. Tried auto zone and they don't have a clue could this be my problem?

shouldn't you have replaced the entire Blower motor resistor and not just the plug??? GM has had problems with the resistor because the blower pulls to much power and burns the clips. GM told me unless I replace the resistor and harness it will just continue to burn the plugs. I found a brand new resistor and harness on ebay for $30

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I think the highest setting gets too hot for the size of the connection.
Thanks! I have a 2003 Trailblazer and didn't know where to look for the resistor... You helped me change it out in 15 minutes! Best regards.

Number five went out on me yesterday thanks for the video

Thanks DrSnug... You rock...just did repair my 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer with the exact same issue. God Bless and God Speed, pal. RUclips Rocks.
Thanks for the video! My symptoms were only high speed working and the strangest part was the blower would not shut off even by shutting off the ignition.
Thanks for the video! I couldn't have replaced mine without it. Took me 45 minutes, but I have big clumsy hands.
Hey brother! This saved us this summer! Many many thanks!!!

this man is good 4 real.thanks keep up the good work.
my 08 trlblzr just went out . only was working on fan 3-4 . only 35$ to get . dealer wanted like 300 what a joke . nice vid bro
2004 Envoy with the same issue...not blower on 4 or 5. Is there a way to determine if the issue is the connector or the resistor moduls?

This video is actual history
@BubblessLovesYou I'm glad the video was helpful to you. Makes me glad I made it now.
I'd go to the salvage yard next time for such a small piece of plastic. But well done, mate!
This gives us a good idea how to go about the job. Thanks.
Does this also apply on a 2004 Envoy?
Thankyou so much. I needed this. Exactly what's going on with my a/c
What is that computer module that's connected to the kick panel?
OnStar
what if your a/c only blows cold on one side in the front of a manual system?
Great job! You just saved me a TON of time and frustration - thanks!
Is it still working? I suspect the whole resistor is bad if it caused the pigtail to heat up like that.
What did you have to do to disconnect the pigtail? I'm having the same issue you did. I recently replaced the resistor so I obviously don't want to damage it in the process.

@@drsnug22 I worked on it for a while, only to have my wife come in and get it in one shot. I told her I loosened it for her 😜
coldest day of the winter here - 0 and no heat in my 05 envoy all fuses good I'm thinking it's that bliwer module I am trading it in once good weather comes ether way
in my gmc envo 2007,you know total four fan for ax in interior mine right 2 working, but left 2 not working any idea
I have replaced mine. If it goes bad. Replace the pigtail and the resistor together. It works fine then. They know they have problem with the wire getting hot and that is why, he had such a hard time getting the plug off.
+ml2trick Yep. The two ends were fused together on mine.
What did you have to do to get it disconnected?

Reymundo Chavez It could be but I cannot be 100% certain
Hey man you are awesome, thanks so much for this video you helped me a lot.
Idk if you're still on this or not, but I have replaced this 2 or 3 times now so I'm just wondering if this worked for you for long
We kept that vehicle for a year and didn't have any more issues during that time frame. Sorry I couldn't help more.
drsnug22 you're fine, it's gonna be single digits here in Ohio next week so I'm just taking it to a shop to hopefully get fixed
Thx bro! Exactly what I needed
Why do these blower resistors keep going bad? I have replaced this two times in my 2007 Envoy
Debbie Gildone I am not sure why that is. Anyone else have the same issue?
Cuz they are junk and overheat.
This is SO EASY to get to so I just went to the junk yard & cut off a pigtail and put it in my pocket!!! LOL If it breaks again? I REPLACED THE MODULE,TURNED ON AND FAN WORKS, AFTER A FEW MINS. THE FINS ON THE UNIT GET H O T.....IS THAT NORMAN OR NOT /????
david arnold I'm not sure if that's normal. Sorry
You won't know until you look at them. Just have to dig into it. You will be able to tell when you see it.
the blower motor is most likely drawing too many amps. The resistor is likely to go out again.
@keifuz hey glad I could help sorry the video sucked tight area.
Do not unplug the battery on an Envoy for more than a minute or two. It has a tendency to mess with the actuators in the AC system.
Good vid Duane !!
@labattblueleaf Glad it was some help to you.
Don't disconnect battery on GMC Envoys, it causes the actuators in the front to disengage, not cheap or easy to fix !
Ebay has said pigtail with connectors for $10.
Thanks, you helped immensely!
I am not sure on that one. Sorry
Thanks...... Good job
Resistor and connector w/crimps for $78 at advance auto online.
Great video, thanks. $30 on ebay...
