I just realized ang daming ignoranteng Pilipino. Yung ginagawang katatawanan yung isa sa mga kultura at tradisyon natin, kaya hindi kataka-takang walang interes at walang idea yung generation ngayon about sa culture before.
Madaming ignorante dahil wala silang tinatawag na sarili nilang kultura. Masakit siguro ang katotohanang wala silang koneksyon to anything far much older and ancient than what they see on social media or television. Kaya tama yung sinabi ni Mrs. Magos, "you are a Filipino because of your skin, you are a Filipino because of the dances and of the arts, of the literature we have.

Thank you Kara for documenting this. I have always been proud of our precolonial culture. As an Ilonggo, I have always wanted to showcase the rich and vibrant culture of our ancestry. It is sad that only few kids are willing to continue. But I am happy to know that Garangan is making an effort to proliferate and educate the next gen.
Now, February 2020 Still watching This story is so true. My tita, had mentioned this to me about this place. Capiz is near to Igbaras, Iloilo. I can really understand their dialects but I can't speak them. I miss back home. Going to different villages, see waterfalls, caves, beaches and etc.. Breathing from mountain's fresh air, eating fresh vegetables, meats and fruits. Unlike, here in the U.S. Maybe some of you will disagree with me. These are my thoughts and opinions.
I came from a prominent Family of Passi City Iloilo Philippines. My family in the early years of 1900 is a will well known a nd belongs to a Wealthy Class who owned a vast quantity of Lands holdings. The Origins of my Family comes from the Padernilla and Pamplona famlys. I was born during the 2nd World war in 1943. When I come of the age of 7 years old, that that was the age where my mind becomes to developed develop and understands most of the things that are happening in the real world. I am aware that during my early life of 7 and forward, My Family are rich and owns vast of lands in our town and agricultural farms. Almost 3/4 of the residential in our Town belongs to my Grand Parent. In the development of our town infrastructures most of the Lands for Schools and Public Places were donated to the by my Grandparents free of cost. As I grow up my elder relatives tells me stories about our heritages. She told me then that our Great-Great Grand Mother of the Pamplona's was raised by her parents as a "VUCOT" which means a Princess in the Family! A VUCOT means she is will kept inside the house away and bared not to be seen in public. The criteria of being a VUCOT is she is the most beautiful among the rest of the family! This VUCOT shown in this Video speaked the same dialect as mine, "kina-ray-a". I was born, raised and educAted in the Philippines, lived, worked as Engineer in the USA and a naturalized US Citizen!
Thanks to that drama.
I once read stories about "BINUKOT" in a book called "MARAGTAS KANG PANAY" (HISTORY OF PANAY). This is a very informative and epic story about the old traditions the island of panay have dating back pre spanish era. This documentary may have been produced 15 years ago, but upon tumbling on this makes me realized that old traditions needs to be preserve even if the advent of technology and modernazation prevail on this modern world. Kudos Ms. Kara David
Blessed be.
Ever since mayroon na pong inequality.
The Songs or Encantations must be recorded and preserved .The stories (Sugilanon) is history of the tribe from onset of (maybe Purchase of Panay) Malayan culture , the arrival of 10 Datus from Borneo. Thanks to Kara David for the research and Rackie Layao for Posting
You are a filipino because of your skin. You are a filipino because of the dances, because of the arts, the literature that you have. I'm not trying to say that we don't, we wouldn't, we shouldn't learn or we shouldn't adopt anything from outside but what i'm trying to say is pordyos nman porsanto i mean mag-iwan ka nman ng tatak mo. - Alicia P. Magos, Ph. D. Anthropologist, UP Visayas (CWV3)
I was so surprised knowing that their epic songs can take up to 136 hrs to 2 months. That is something what geniuses can do. It'll challenge your memorization capacity at its fullest, too bad this tradition is slowly dying.
Thank you for uploading this docomentary. Though Capiz is known by some to be 'ang daming aswang doon' still, this documentary reflects their rich history and unique culture among many other cultures in the Philippines. This is an excellent and well-informed documentary.
Johnaliza Tabaquirao I like your comment. This is the ancient culture and tradition of our country. This is our identity. Sadly, nawawala na. Unlike other asian countries, napi-preserved nila ang culture at tradisyon nila.
May isang awtor nga po ang nagsabi, " I believe that myth is more potent than history" .
Something wrong with Kara, its an inappropriate question "bakit di ba kau marunong maglakad? Ayaw mo bang pagpawisan?" obviously no respect to the binukot! She can ask without sounding insulting! Nor Dumb in Arts and to our ancient cultures!
Walang iba!
This unique, rich and beautiful culture must be recognized, preserved, protected and cherished not only by the indigenous Citizens of Panay but by the entire Filipino Nation as well. As the popular proverb states “One must learn to glance posteriorly in order to ensure the arrival into the desired destination.” Thank you Panay for this great cultural heritage.

Thanks to Kara David for the research and Rackie Layao for Posting
no problem po
Nairecord po yan ng up visayas
This is what I'm saying.....

I'd really like to have a written account of the oral epics and legends that are passed down by this indigenous tribes
Me too...
March 2020 here, who's still here watching this?👋👍❤
:-) Ms. Kara David, thumbs up!
I was so surprised knowing that their epic songs can take up to 136 hrs to 2 months. That is something what geniuses can do. It'll challenge your memorization capacity at its fullest, too bad this tradition is slowly dying.
As it should be. kawawa yung mga babaeng nagiging binukot.
Kakatuwang pag aralan Ang ating kasaysayan.
Wow! Amazing nakakaproud maging Pilipino ❤️❤️💕😊
It's an amazing documentary... lesson ko dati ito sa mga students ko nakakabilib talaga ang ating history at culture
Whos watching this during lockdown? Hug me!
Ang bata pa ni kara dtu..
Keep safe guys (quarantine days) april 2020
May 27, 2019 still watching.
How I wish these are things that were included in our curriculum in school.
Filipino epics, legend, poems etc are discussed in college.
Some informations here are discussed in high school.
Tama po kayo diyan!
May isang awtor nga po ang nagsabi, " I believe that myth is more potent than history"

As the popular proverb states “One must learn to glance posteriorly in order to ensure the arrival into the desired destination.”
Thank you Panay for this great cultural heritage.
