i LOVE how your bookcase is organized by color! i lost all my (hundreds and hundreds)of cherished and many re-read books in a housefire recently. i just bought my first book, and i plan to have a beautiful bookcase like yours! I'm planning a library area in the new house :) thank you for your recommendations, I've read several!

The book thief The fault in our stars To kill a mocking bird Fahrenheit 451 Harry potter The hunger games Anne ... The help Alices in wonderland The great gatsby
If you haven't read them already I would definitely recommend 1984 by George Orwell and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov - both are incredibly thought provoking and very relevant today!!
Lolita's characters are done so well. I think that the success of the book is that the characters were familiar to readers in a fantastic story. The Russian authors are the Kings of sarcasm.
@@lilyp6949 I just finished reading 1984 too. I am blown away by this book. Everything that's in the book is just timeless. Look at our democracies around the world and whatever George Orwell has written happens for real. It's definitely a must read.
My favorite books: Jurassic Park Harry Potter Series A Series of Unfortunate Events Lord of the Rings The Hobbit Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader Star Wars: Deathtroopers A Song of Ice and Fire Hunger Games
Koby Romigh dude, are you 5 years old or what? It’s ok if you like those books, but if they are your favorite ones you seriously have some reading to do

+Aleinad Alis Volat Propriis It uses some pretty complicated French, so you'll have a lot to learn before you can read it. As someone who's read it on both English and French, it gives the same impact no matter the language.
If you enjoy... Hunger Games? Try 1984 A Fault in Our Stars? Emperor of all Maladies (nonfiction) The Great Gatsby? The Cider House Rules To Kill a Mockingbird? Their Eyes Were Watching God The Help? Parable of the Sower & Parable of the Talents Harry Potter series? Eragon series
DestinyQx I hated Their Eyes Were Watching God. I was forced to read it in 8th grade. I don't tend to like books I'm forced to read though it takes away the effect of it for me. I still have the book and might give it a try again now that I'm older and don't have to do a group project on it. I had voted to do Romeo and Juliet and the class was lazy and out voted me because they thought it too boring and difficult. 😒
OMG!!! I thought I was the only one that somehow found the emperor of all. Maladies to read. Absolutely first - class story telling and true informative content available, props to Mukherjee for writing it.
A few books that I think everyone should read in their lifetime are: Lord of the flies, William Golding The catcher in the rye, JD Salinger 1984, George Orwell The Outsiders, S E Hinton
My list: An uninterrupted view of the sky The Help The way I used to be Harry Potter The alchemist To kill a mockingbird The secret history Drop some good books too!🌻💕

The story really helped me through hard times in my life and I learned so much from it about friendship, bravery, love and even politics. Its such a special Story, everyone should read it. Hopefully the new play is as good as the original books. ❤
I really wish I loved the Book Thief more :( I liked it, but it didn't make an impact and it did not stay with me or made me feel anything... Which I'm actually really sad about because it's so many people's favourite book and everyone loves it and finds it life-changing. I don't understand why it didn't do much for me :(
Same. I feel like, if you want to read a book about a kid in Nazi Germany, read A Diary of a Young Girl, because it is real and honest. Book thief didn't impact me.
Definitly not the only one ... I still think it is overhyped, if that's even a word ^^ Yes, John Green is brilliant in his own way, but some other books of him are sooo much better!
Coming from someone with a chronic disease it pissed me off. I absolutely hate that book and am pissed Hazel wasn't the one who died in the end. It's so opposite about what she said how the disease doesn't define the person, that's all she does in the book is bitch about her disease. It's annoying that she didn't die and Gus did because he actually was the one with a healthy mindset about it. ( I apologize if I got the names wrong, I read the book so long ago and hated it and I don't care enough about the book to even google the names) that book is just an insult to people with diseases trying not to let them define them.

I can see "All the Light We Cannot See" on the shelf and I would definitely add that too this list. It is beautifully written, very impactful, akin to "The Book Theif" because of the era and young female protagonist but it also shows another aspect of that time. I cannot recommend it enough
You are the first person I have come across to say this, and I'm a bit relieved here. I started the book twice, but I could not finish it, which is something that rarely happens to me. I thought the writing was wonderful, but somehow I couldn't stick with it. I loved your list in this video though, I have read 7 of your picks already :)
I completely agree. I love the symbolic elements throughout the entire story as well. I am a sucker for symbolism. For me, after reading the book thief, it was a refreshing point of view to see World War 2 from. The contrast between the 2 characters was very satisfying to me as well. I really loved All the Light We Cannot See.
The Harry Potter series actually made me a “reader”. I love these books and I’m planning to reread the hole series this year (2019). I just finished “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel García Marquez which was amazing. At the moment I’m reading “The Help” and after that I’m going to read “The Book Thief” and “The Fault in our Stars”. I’m sure I will like them.
In no order really, I’d say Ishmael - Daniel Quinn The Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger The Story of B - Daniel Quinn My Ishmael - Daniel (trilogy of his other two on here) 1984 - George Orwell Brave New World - Arduous Huxley Sophie’s World - Jostein Gaarder Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance - Robert Pirsig A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess Anthem - Ayn Rand The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald Have fun :p always try to remember and focus on the philosophical and thematic/symbolic arguments shown throughout literature :))
Zaid Rehman to me personally, Ishmael (and the whole series really) is a one of a kind experience. It is kind of transcendental in a way, it talks about essentially earth, human history, the flaws that plague humans as a whole, and the possible attributions we can give to earth and ‘mother culture’. The series definitely isn’t your basic fantasy surface level series, it is very deep and philosophical, and I highly recommend them. :)
I love Brave New Worlddddd. But the Hunger Games is great in its own regard especially if you read it from a feminist perspective. It really is a great feminist novel once you put on that lens!!!
I read both for school and personally didn't find them all that impactful or engaging. Maybe that was just because I was forced to read them but I found 1984 to be overly long and I don't remember anything about Brave New World.
Read them all, so I'm glad you said in your lifetime instead of "before you die" :P I would argue that this list could easily be changed to "Top Ten Books to Read Before you Turn 20" because I think this list specifically works really well for older teens to think about the world around them and build that analytical foundation before they enter their twenties.

Harry Potter, The Book Thief, The Fault in our Stars, and Hunger Games are some of my favorite books ever. They impact me so much, especially Harry Potter
a great book is partners in crime by Agatha christie, I go back to it again and again, also Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark is amazing and can't forget about The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards
and then there were none by Agatha Christie, the burning court and to wake the dead by John Dickson Carr, the curse of the bronze lamp and the widow evil eye by Carter Dickson, Aforethought malice by Francis Iles
In no particular order: Harry Potter Jane Eyre To kill a mockingbird The Iliad Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine The Secret Garden Lord of the Flies Jacqueline Wilson books as a child Twisted Wizard of Oz And many many more
For anyone who loves animal farm, you guys should definitely read Elmer by Gerry Alanguilan if you could find a copy. It's a graphic novel that reminds me of Animal Farm but with chickens only, and it's really amaaazing
When she brings "the fault in our stars" up I already know the deal. That book broke me twice as much as the movie. It is so beautiful and in some way pure. Loved it with my heart and soul.
I love the way you spend time on the recommendations videos. For example, you picked these books on basis of the impact they can have on the reader. I am very glad to see that I have had read a few books from these. 1. Harry Potter Series 2. Hunger Games Trilogy Have been looking forward to read The Help, Fault in Our Stars, to Kill a Mockingbird and The Book Thief.
The Book Thief is so good, a very intense rollercoaster of emotions. I'm so glad I read it. I completely agree on To Kill A Mockingbird - and it's one of my favourite books. And I need to read Fahrenheit 451. And I love the Harry Potter series (I'm re-reading it at the moment)
This “fetching lobon only” (Google it) is a fantastic place to uncover different books. It has a user-friendly interface and there are no errors and glitches at all. Its a crucial source for individuals who enjoy reading. The selection of books is very extensive. You can have a lot of things to find out about.
Honestly, The Great Gatsby is definitely a book that needs to be read independently. I found it a lot more enjoyable the first two times i read it than when I was being shoved symbolism . The symbolism DOES play a good part in the book, but I liked hearing it after I had a full picture of the story first because a lot goes on, and there are a lot of characters.
as someone who's 15 yrs older than you I really appreciated the disclaimer you added at the beginning of the video, it's honest. It would be interesting to know what you have read tho, so that we can understand if you let something out on purpose (you didn't like it) or you just haven't read it yet. My personal top 15 (I couldn't pick ten!) would be: Pride and Prejudice (Austen), If this is a man (Levi), De Profundis (Wilde), The Count of Monte Cristo (Dumas), 1984 (Orwell), A Doll's House (Ibsen), Medea (Euripides), Dialogue between Tristano and a Friend (Leopardi, that's a few pages, it's one among the Small Moral Works), A room of your own (Woolf), One Hundred Years of Solitude (Marquez), Memoirs of Hadrian (Yourcenar), Macbeth (Shakespeare), Iliad (Homer), War and Peace (Dostoevskij) Harry Potter series (Rowling).
This was the first review that made me want to try and read ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. I loved your perspective and it makes it sound like something I’d like to try despite it not being my usual type of book. I love it when someone can do that! Thank you. Hoping I’ll get as much out of it as you did!
I *EXTREMELY* recommend: • The Harry Potter Trilogy • The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series • The Heroes of Olympus series (is a continuation series of Percy Jackson and the Olympians) • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them • The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle • Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer • The Hunger Games • The Divergent Series • The Demonata Series • Paper Towns • The Fault in our Stars • The Maze Runner Series • The Uglies Series • The Thin Executioner • Procession of the Dead AND FINALLY • It Gets Worse by Shane Dawson
My related, but slightly different list. 20 books to read or have read to you by age 20: 1 - Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle 2 - Llama Llama Red Pyjama by Anna Dewdney 3 - The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle 4 - The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn 5 - The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch 6 - Horton Hears A Who by Dr. Seuss 7 - The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss 8 - The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett 9 - Charlotte's Web by E. The top 3 must-reads imo 1. Percy Jackson and The Olympians 2. The Chronicles of Narnia (The movies are arguably better but the books are still great and classics by now) 3. Anne of Green Gables
Another great author to look for is Laurie Halse Anderson! All of her books I've read so far have been wonderful. Speak and The Impossible knife of memory (I'm pretty sure thats the title) are definitely some of my favorites.
im eyeing "Everything, Everything" on your shelf this was the first video I've watched from you and i really like your channel!! you have amazing taste in books and you're hella gorgeous. im definitely going to read many of the recommended books :D
I’m 72 and an avid reader. I’m very impressed by your choice of books! Some of my “must reads” are: LES MISERABLES;; O PIONEERS; LES MISERABLES; TALE OF TWO CITIES; THE AGE OF INNOCENCE; WASHINGTON SQUARE; ON TYRANNY; Pat Conroy’s works in order.... 🌹
I read the whole list already before I saw the video. I noticed these are mostly american books. Here is my list (as a german girl) 1. Dostojewski, Idiot 2. Juli Zeh, Play instinct 3. Juli Zeh, Corpus delicti 4. Orwell, Animal farm 5. Süskind, Perfume And maybe, just for fun: Poznanski, Erebos My favourite book still: Why we took the car by Herrndorf, an amazing german author who died too early.
This is a great list! I LOVE Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, The Book Thief, and Anne of Green Gables so much!! In 8th grade for English class I read To Kill a Mockingbird which I thought was incredible and Fahrenheit 451 which I didn’t really enjoy but can still definitely appreciate. I read The Great Gatsby in 10th grade for my English class, American Literature, and it was fantastic!❤️
The Book Thief is really an eye-opening story and definitely MUST READ book at least once in a lifetime. I'm glad that you think the same thing. Love your videos so, so, so much ❤️

No 1984 or Animal Farm by George Orwell?
That made me sad :(
Yes I loved animal farm!
Or Brave New World! I literally felt like she was making a video of my school reading list
For anyone who loves animal farm, you guys should definitely read Elmer by Gerry Alanguilan if you could find a copy. It's a graphic novel that reminds me of Animal Farm but with chickens only, and it's really amaaazing
1984 is oke, animal farm meh. Classic books are overrated.
@@Archonsx lmao, ok
When she brings "the fault in our stars" up I already know the deal. That book broke me twice as much as the movie. It is so beautiful and in some way pure. Loved it with my heart and soul.
How about The Lord of the Flies? That book is definitely ahead of its time
Love that book too
Developer LLL124 why?
I mean I read it 3 times and I still can’t decide wether I love it or hate it
I loved lord of the flies sm, it's my favourite book of all time
That book is so BORING!!!
I love the way you spend time on the recommendations videos. For example, you picked these books on basis of the impact they can have on the reader.

That book is just a masterpiece in all senses!
In love with your bookshelf. and the small effiges of characters completes your bookshelf
I love your bookshelf and the fact that Crown of Midnight is on it.
I just finished reading the book thief. It was so sad, I was crying😭😭😭 but it is one of the best books you can read
I recommend Game of Thrones. It's just the most different book I've ever read and it's really good in my opinion
Paige Deon the most different book I've read is warbreaker truly amazing book.
OMG! I love your library and the way you displayed the Funko Pops due to the color! 😍
as someone who's 15 yrs older than you I really appreciated the disclaimer you added at the beginning of the video, it's honest.
Your bookshelves are AWESOME
When you said Harry Potter I was like, "YES!"
The book thief sounds cool, thankyou!

Another great author to look for is Laurie Halse Anderson! All of her books I've read so far have been wonderful. Speak and The Impossible knife of memory (I'm pretty sure thats the title) are definitely some of my favorites.
Your bookshelf is the reason I live
Read The Will of a Wildflower on Amazon. The first 2 Chapters are free on Kindle.
All quiet on the western front highly recommend it.
I would like to see a YA list :-)

I love that you pulled out the Harry Potter funko for this. And yes I also love your content so much that I’m now in the back catalog 🤣❤️
I love The Help. It’s one of my favorite historical fiction books.
I read the whole list already before I saw the video.
I noticed these are mostly american books. Here is my list (as a german girl)
1. Dostojewski, Idiot
2. Juli Zeh, Play instinct
3. Juli Zeh, Corpus delicti
4. Orwell, Animal farm
5. Süskind, Perfume
And maybe, just for fun: Poznanski, Erebos
My favourite book still: Why we took the car by Herrndorf, an amazing german author who died too early.
So glad to see someone mention Patrick Süskind! Perfume is so beautifully written, (or at least the English translation is.)
Von Tschick hab ich bis heute Albträume... Ich fand es furchtbar^^😭
Thank you very much for the recommendations! I'm so tired of seeing the same tired titles being recommended everywhere.
cant stick with you on the Idiot - its a difficult read of over 700 pages and payoff does not balance the scale for me.
@@ohwellwhateverr it is my all time favourite book:)
My list:
I’ll give you the sun

In 8th grade for English class I read To Kill a Mockingbird which I thought was incredible and Fahrenheit 451 which I didn’t really enjoy but can still definitely appreciate. I read The Great Gatsby in 10th grade for my English class, American Literature, and it was fantastic!❤️
The Book Thief is really an eye-opening story and definitely MUST READ book at least once in a lifetime. I'm glad that you think the same thing. Love your videos so, so, so much ❤️

My two favorite books are :
_ The stranger by Albert Camus
_ The crime and punishment by Dostoevsky
PS : I read only two books xD
While you were introducing this video I was looking for the book thief in your book shelf (I've never seen your channel before). When you said it was your all time favorite book I just about lost my cool because, same. I don't even read much if I'm being honest, but I want to which is why I'm here. That book is one of my favorite things though.
You should do top ten YA or NA romance novels, I'd really be interested in seeing your list :)
Anne of Green Gables is such a wonderful start to an awesome series. I'm rereading the whole series nowadays.
I'm new here and can I just say that your bookshelf is GOALS
