Not an OCS expert, but my reading is the remnant does not die - when the 16-4-3 unit dies, you place a remnant unit 2 hexes away. So it is not in the same hex as the main unit.
That is correct. It is in essence a reformed cadre of the core 16-4-3 division. It only takes 1 pax to rebuild an infantry step and thus place the 16-4-3 back on the board with 3 step losses. It reflects the Wehrmacht’s ability to hold shattered divisions together later in the war.
Looks like a fun puzzle, will need to rip open the shrink on mine and get a write up going
