Fun Easter egg, in case nobody is aware: if you play as Ben Kenobi in the multiplayer duel mode, if you hold L1 and push circle+square at the same time, Ben will raise his lightsaber to his face and if he is attacked before lowering the lightsaber, he’ll instantly die, like A New Hope.
Circle and Square is a genius combo cuz they're opposite from eachother, so most people aren't gonna naturally do it. Leaving the move as a special secret for those who do.
Fun fact - in this game there's an exclusive live action scene where Dooku says "Do not assume that because they're are two of you that you have the advantage". It wasn't even in the film.
It’s always so fun to see deleted scenes pop up in tie-in media. Gives a brief glimpse into their exact context and what could’ve been. One in particular that always stuck out to me was in _Lego Star Wars: The Video Game_ where, if Anakin wins the duel in 3-6, his lightsaber turns red in the following cutscene before Obi-Wan regains the upper hand. This was updated in _The Complete Saga_ later on, but I always found it fascinating that the debate on Anakin’s lightsaber changing color during the fight went on pretty much until the final release.
The reason why i love this game is that it lets you play the parts of the movie that wasnt shown, same reason i loved the first 2 Activision spiderman games and transformers movie games
Love this game. I still have my original copy on my ps2. There are so many memories. The boss fights, combat, and the way they integrate the movie footage awesome.
I love how involved Hayden was in the development of this game and the Anakin character, because he himself was a gamer - so cool! But it makes sense! Dude was 19 When he got cast, so there was a pretty Big chance that the dude played video games, so I’m glad he got the opportunity
Same with Nick Gillard! He’d never been involved in a video game project, but he was the crucial piece for the lightsaber choreography and how to use it. He’d do demonstrations with the development team on footwork as you’re attacking and defending. Once Hayden appeared, the other key element as they’re adding choreography is the character behind every move.
This game STILL has some of the best lightsaber duel combat, right next to Jedi Academy. ROTS is a lot better than some people give it credit for. The best thing about its release was playing before the movie came out.
You can say it, it’s still the best lightsaber dueling game to this day. It would’ve been “Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels”, but it was only available for Wii, and it’s a pain in the butt to emulate nowadays
The best part of local multiplayer was that when you picked the same character the dark side version was the 2nd player. The one time in my life my little brother got player 1😂
Episode III PS2 dueling is way better than it had any right to be. The mechanics are surprisingly deep with parrys, saber locks, grapples, unblockable strikes, and several unique finishers. I’m glad that this underrated gem is getting the recognition it deserves.
If you have fast fingers, on duel mode, Dooku and Cin Dralig are utterly invincible. Their fencing style is so much faster to the strike than the absurd twirling of the rest you drill them repeatedly in the chest as they wind up over and over.
I too, remember the Gameboy Advance version of this game. There was one summer where I was home alone for about a week, and as long as I did chores, yard work and the like, I got as much time with this game as I wanted. It was the perfect carrot on a stick for someone who had just seen Episode 3 and fell in love with everything about it immediately.
What are you on about? Cin and Serra are bosses during the Jedi Temple raid as Anakin. Like, they're literally in the main story. Did you actually play the game or just went off your memories and wikis, and got all your footage from another source?
One small thing you didnt mention is the alternate costumes in Duel Mode. Some were pretty cool like Greavous with 4 Red Sabers, a What If Anakin with his hood up and a Red Lightsaber, and even a what if Light Side Darth Vader with a more Blue outfit and a Blue Saber.
Cin and Serra are featured in the story mode and you fight against both of them as Anakin while clearing out the Jedi Temple. Which means... you didn't really play the story mode for this one - or you completely forgot about it :D
This was my favourite game when i was a kid. Still remember the best memories are duelling with my best friend all day, and then playing cooperation missions together as anakin and obi wan
Just wanna say your awesome dude and I always love your content since the beginning and I'm happy with all the different stuff you talk about and how informative you are with it and even if I don't agree with everything I respect your opinion and will gladly always be a part of your channel
I remember this game being known for the multiplayer mode. Also, favorite SW movie? Props. Surprised you didn’t land on Rogue One or Empire Strikes Back.
I was that nerd kid that was excited to see Cin in the game. He’s in the movie for like two seconds but the duel with him is really fleshed out in the novelization, which I read after finding it at school. So it was cool for kid me to see the character get more of a nod, my first Glup Shitto.
Had the game on both PS2 and DS and loved them both! I used to duel my friends on the multiplayer mode on PS2 for hours. Thanks for the video, brought a ton of nostalgia!
Playing the dueling mode and unlocking all the secret characters was so fun back in the day. Really glad you're able to do these kind of videos, keep up the great work Matty & Lock!
the concept 2v1 duel between Vader, Cin and Serra was supposed to be during the raid on the Jedi Temple, not after the alternate ending. He is Vader as soon as Mace Windu is killed but they turned it in to 2 seperate fights back to back as the combat system in the game works much better 1v1 and it allows both characters movesets to shine. I think this would have been such a cool scene in the real film let alone the game. The concept of Hayden overcoming the guy who literally invented lightsaber fighting as it existed at the time. It's probably one of the things that would have been in the super long version Lucas has talked about
Episode 3 is my favorite movie because I remember my mom took me to see it after school opening day May 19, 2005. We also got McDonald’s and I got an Episode 3 happy meal. Star Wars Episode 3 on the DS was also one of my favorite games on DS and one of the most underrated Star Wars flying modes nobody talks about!
This Star Wars series has been fucking awesome, man. Gives me such nostalgia but also fills in alot of gaps I had about the tie-in games that I missed at the time. I love this channel and I appreciate all you do
They're kinda separate, but on the same level, kind of immediately one after the other, and u don't really get to recover much health in between so I can see why he'd count them as one
First time watching your video. I cant believe how you shattered my childhood memory. In my mind the graphics of RotS was on par with jedi fallen order/ survivor 😭 Man did we have a good childhood when the memory is better than reality. (Same goes for the amazing jedi academy that i shattered my image by buying the ps4 rerelease 😂) Awesome video about a great game that i will search out to play again 🎉
If I remember correctly, I think they advertised the scenes from the movie so much because the game came out before the movie? At least that’s what I remember
I love your content bro, I don’t know if you will see this but thank you for sharing with us :) it brings me back to my childhood and restored a bit of serotonin
There actually is a mission where you face Drallig and Keto. It was a bonus I believe. It takes place during Operation Nightfall when Anikan goes to the temple
Glad to see someone actually covering the handheld versions. They were so fun, yet often overlooked. Personally I prefer the gba version instead of the ds version since I'm not a big fan of the ship levels, but mostly its the music. Something about hearing those iconic star wars songs in the gba sound font is just so much more charming than listening to the actual songs with the ds's sound quality
Sin Drallig and Serra Keto are actually in the main story. You have to fight both of them in the Jedi temple. At different times rather than a double boss fight
My absolute favorite feature was the alternate attires in the duels. Seeing Vader with a blue saber, Grevious with red sabers, Kenobi with a green saber was mind blowing as a kid
I can so relate. I remember having my dad take me to Hollywood video over and over again asking if they got it in yet so I could rent it. Loved the game, the alternate ending you can do. Ep 3 is my favorite Star Wars. Always blew my mind when the prequels were getting hate. Love to see it getting the love now especially with the stuff on Ahsoka and obi wan getting obi wan and anikan returning. Last year I found episode 3 CIB for Xbox and picked it up and I can play it on my series x. It’s bliss. Lol
I adore the DS version as well. However, unlike you, my favorite part of the game is all the ship combat. It’s like having Ace Combat Lite in a handheld with options such as the Millennium Falcon, the V-Wing, the ARC-170, Vader’s TIE Advanced, and even Anakin’s custom starfighter from the first Clone Wars animated series. So fun.
My parents were going through a divorce at the time I played the gba version, and you mentioning how it was your on the road game reminded me of my own experience. This was my game to pass to the time as my dad would go back and forth between lawyers and home. We live in the middle of nowhere so it was a good 1-3 hours of travel time. I just randomly clicked on the video, but I caught a second of the gameplay and was pleasantly surprised, I mean it’s nothing revolutionary, but for what I expected it to be… it’s much better than I thought lol. Gameplay actually looks kinda fun, something I’d be down to try even in 2024 haha
I wish more games had the experience system this game has… the fact that you couldnt just mindlessly grind xp, but instead you had to finish the levels with better combogrades to get additional xp was super fun and challenging
Don‘t know what this dude is talking about but i most definitely duelled Cin Dralig in the Story Mode as Anakin and his Apprentice, too. It‘s right after the Clone Trooper Invasion of the temple
I didn't know how good I had it. This game was awesome. I hadn't watched the movies, but somehow I picked some awesome Star Wars games to randomly play anyway: Episode III The Force Unleashed Jedi Fallen Order
All I remember about dueling was spamming cin drallig with that hoax speed attack that was almost unblock/dodgeable. I used to annoy the shit out of my older brother who was used to always beating me in other fighting games
I went to go see this movie when I was 8 with my mom, and she was shocked I knew lines from the movie. I had to explain after how the game had shown scenes from the film! Can you imagine this happening today?
Couldnt afford a lot of games growing up. Super glad of all the Star Wars games, this was the one that I ended up with. This and the PS2 Lego Star Wars game which lets you play every single scene out from all 6 movies. If you havent done a vid on that one yet you definitely should.
Super great channel. Great topic / topics, presentation and everything. Easily a new favourite after years of few such quality channels. Love love love
Yo, your story warm my heart. The Christmas one & the memories you told us about playing the ps2/GBA versions. I was like damn..good times man. It was very relatable 😁 those unlockable really did help the games. It gave you something to hard work for. All these hours & you can see what you gained. Nowadays, all that would've been dlc. Resident evil 2 & 3 (remake) had unlockables. I can't remember any other newer games i have nowadays that have free unlockables for doing something awesome. I would have to set down & think about it 😂
The memories with my buddies dueling each other in this we were young and stupid and new nothing we would bitch if someone picked the character we wanted. But that all changed when we discovered you both can play the same people vader with the blue light Saber or grevious with the 4 red ones will forever be ingrained in my memory discovering that
Oh my goodness, I remember this game. This was one of my most second best Star Wars game. I played when I was a kid. Unfortunately, though I was really bad at it. The first boss fight was very hard for me when I was a kid and I couldn't beat it. I'm sorry and I really wish I could play It at the time, but overall this game hold special memories to my heart. As I loved episode three and this game when I was a kid
Did you know the GBA version of Revenge of the Sith has a co-op story mode you can play through that’s completely different from the Anakin and Obi campaigns? My cousin and I didn’t know until this year! Totally worth the hour!
You fight against Serra Keto and Cin Dralling in the main story at the Jedi temple. They are both boss fights. Maybe its an xbox thing. But they are not just randomly added for the multiplayer
Listen at 10:05 again. He said she was just randomly added for the multiplayer and not in the main story. Maybe he did not mean it that way, but that's what he said
I would love if we got the a Star Wars duel game with exact the same mechanics from Verus mode from Revenge of the sith video game. Imagine with duel as any lightsaber user from prequels, OG, Sequels, Inquisitors, Old Republic + Starkiller
I found out about that alternate ending by accident, i thought i picked the last level where you play as Obi-Wan, but i was controlling Anakin. I thought it eas a bug, but then i got that ending and it surprised me
Fun Easter egg, in case nobody is aware: if you play as Ben Kenobi in the multiplayer duel mode, if you hold L1 and push circle+square at the same time, Ben will raise his lightsaber to his face and if he is attacked before lowering the lightsaber, he’ll instantly die, like A New Hope.

@@Coreisus The AI will also do it near death and sometimes rarely during combat
If you do it, you regain all force energy, so it’s not exactly a surrender, but highly risky
Fun fact - in this game there's an exclusive live action scene where Dooku says "Do not assume that because they're are two of you that you have the advantage". It wasn't even in the film.
I reacted to that when I replayed the game a couple of weeks ago on PS3.
Yeah a lot of the deleted scenes are in the game . Like the entirety of anakin and obi wan making their way through the invisible hand
That was so cool
There’s a lot of scenes in the game that were done differently in the movie, it’s really cool
It’s always so fun to see deleted scenes pop up in tie-in media. Gives a brief glimpse into their exact context and what could’ve been.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels is available for the PlayStation Portable
Emulation is easy tho
You spelled Jedi Academy wrong here, pal.
Jedi Academy is
My brother and I used to love this game when we were kids. I loved the ending of Anakin beating Obi-wan was really cool.
The best part of local multiplayer was that when you picked the same character the dark side version was the 2nd player. The one time in my life my little brother got player 1😂
Or light side if you pick a dark side character
I loved that too but I wish you could just choose that as your costume. I wanted to be dark side anakin so bad.
A dark General Grevious with 4 red lightsabers was amazing.

Most people don't bother to actually play the entire game they're claiming to review anymore.
Was going to mention this xD You beat me to it
lmao. 😆
I can promise he didn't actually replay the game 😂
My favorite line from this game is sometimes Anakin just says “Bigger isn’t better” and kills the shit out of the bigger enemies
Matty Cin and Serea are both bosses in the campaign of Revenge of the Sith game in both PS2 and Xbox
They were some of the more challenging Jedi to fight too, very parry heavy
3:23 live footage of me running from bullies in highschool

Never see any love for the Game Boy Advance version today. Thank you for shedding some light!! 16:10
Yo, jumpscare seeing my write in from Patreon! Thanks for including my submission, great video!
Idk if it’s different in the PS2 version but in the Xbox versions Sara and Cin are a back to back fight in the story mode during the Order 66 levels.
So is in PS2
this game is the definition of my childhood
I remember this game being known for the multiplayer mode.

I could’ve swore there was a boss fight between Cin and Serra separately
There was! At least in the Xbox version I played…
It’s always been separate … atleast I thought . I always played Xbox
On PS2 as well! They were both present in the campaign with dialogue and boss battles. Did Matty skimp and not replay for this? 🧐🤔
@Trelitty11 in both Xbox and PS2 they are boss fights dont know if Matty actually played it cause they are there cause I still have my copy

The Force Unleashed
Jedi Fallen Order
The 3 goats imo

Finished this game not too long ago, Pretty good, I liked
I had this game for gba and it was one of the most fun gba games i ever had, and even played it for years on
No, you make more videos on this game my man. Its a masterpiece

You fight against Serra Keto and Cin Dralling in the main story at the Jedi temple. They are both boss fights. Maybe its an xbox thing. But they are not just randomly added for the multiplayer
I don’t think that’s what he said
It's on Ps2 game campaign too dont know what he meant... I don't think he actually played it cause they are there
Listen at 10:05 again. He said she was just randomly added for the multiplayer and not in the main story. Maybe he did not mean it that way, but that's what he said
This is my favourite Star Wars game! Added so much to the already perfect movie!
I thought it eas a bug, but then i got that ending and it surprised me
i like your vibe - subscribed
The lightsaber combos are so good, would love to see a hd port to modern consoles
