And now! Listen to Gladys Knight and the Pip's rendition, it's great too! Did you get the long version here? Oh.......no, you didn't. Heavy sigh...I'm assuming you have already heard Marvin Gaye's version? This is such a great song that all three performers were able to make it their own song, that's a great song. After you've heard Gladys, don't stop there. There's one more version you have to hear, and see, because there is a video with this one too. It's The California Raisins! Yes, you do, you do have to see and hear it! Yes, it's a raisin commercial that landed on Billboard's Top 100 at 85. The Raisins followed up with more hits and a tv show!

CCR made a lot of very good original music & a lot of killer covers like this one. When this album came out & I saw this tune on it I thought wth? But then I listened to it...whoa. This is originally a Motown recording.

The best way to consider which version is better, CCR or Marvin Gaye, this is how you settle the issue once and for all.
Marvin Gaye's version was someone who was clearly SAD about a possible breakup happening really soon.
CCR's version is someone who is clearly MAD about a possible breakup happening really soon.
Marvin's clear and smooth vocals just gives it more of an impactful feeling, reflecting the "sadness" of what is going on. With CCR's vocals, playing style, it comes across as more "gritty" and "fueled by anger" type of vibe.
Both of MASTERPIECES, don't get me wrong. The two versions are classics that you just HAVE to enjoy when it is being played. But the CCR version, clearly has a different vibe when you hear it. One that works even better when you take it in a different direction than what Marvin did, which is to replace the sadness with anger.

I literally like every CCR song. Everyone. Check out a real Banger that's funny as well, it's called It Came Out of the Sky. It's about a farmer whose freaked out when a meteor lands in his pasture and then all of the inevitable things that happened after that with a pretty good punchline at the end.
But the whole thing just rocks and it's so fun to dance to. My Honky Tonk band played it a lot at one point and people always danced like crazy to it.

I put all 32 songs you did that I suggested on a stick and we watched your smiling face on a 75"HD do your reactions. Kenny was Blown Away with the music you're doing and Mike laughed say.... That JM is getting a Proper Lesson on the best music ever made. I was a lot of fun for me.... I just smiled the whole time. Thanks again JM....

I'd like to suggest another southern rock band that was just as famous as CCR. This is "Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesday's Gone 7/3/1976 - Winterland (Official)" the lead singer is Ronnie Van Zant (lead vocals), Gary Rossington (guitar), Allen Colins (guitar), Larry Junstrum (bass guitar) and Bob Burns (drums) unfortunately we lost several of the band members to a terrible plane crash. RIP: Ronnie Van Zant, Steve & Cassie Gaines💔🔥🎸However, Lynyrd Skynyrd did continue on as a very successful band and Johnny Van Zant, Ronnie's brother became the lead singer and put out some great music.
