To me this is Dutch's show at its best: first-hand insights into the fascinating and unique business of Territory pro wrestling. What a life these guys had..!
I watched Dutch wrestle several times at the Orlando Sports Stadium (later re-named the Eddie Graham Sports Complex) in the mid-70's. Shows there were on Monday nights at that time. I did the ring announcing for the Tuesday night boxing matches for awhile and learned they used the same ring. That amazed me, because I figured the wrestling rings would have at least a little cushion. This ring was rock hard. Years later, I was talking to Greg Valentine who told me it was one of the hardest rings he remembered.
That's really interesting! Do you have any pics from then?
@@themobseat Man, I sure wish I did. Those days were long before cell phones. No pics, just memories which sadly become increasingly blurry as I get older.
I first saw Dutch when he was one half of the
Kansas JayHawks with Bobby Jaggers .
Loyal Fan ever Since …!
In Puerto Rico they called Hangman Bobby Jaggers the Kansas City Jay Hawk Bobby Jaggers because Kansas City was a place where most Puerto Ricans could identify or had heard of
Thats the earliest photo of dutch ive seen. Looking good. Came over from cornette, i dont follow or watch wrestling but I really enjoy hearing them talk about wrestling especially the history. Thanks dutch and crew
I remember you wrestling in Chattanooga Tennessee, with the NWA Gulas promotions. At that time Tom Rernesto was the shot caller. This was 1978.
Did you see early Honky Tonkl Man too?
Dutch was pretty buff back in the day.
Dutch looked so damn cool!
I watched Dutch as a kid on TV on WAVE3 in Louisville on Saturday mornings....Tuesday nights live at Louisville Gardens. As a kid he was an enigma....not full heel but not necessarily a babyface. Always entertaining!
I did too, the earliest i remember watching Dutch was the early 80's when I was in my early teens
That Ted Oates and Wayne Cowan feud was talked about years later as one of the best things in Ann Gunkel's group.
A good example of white heat can be seen here on You Tube - the Ox Baker/Johnny Powers/Ernie Ladd riot from Cleveland.
We love the STACH
THANK YOU,THIS is what i SIGNED UP FOR. i realize he has to save some for the books (ill get mine for xmas) but i engage wanting hear about our esteemed Superstar hosts past and wish you guys would just put a bunch of his matches in watch along mode. Im hoping he stays in these early career stages for a few more vids, picks out a couple of watch along s from then and then inches forward
Did our esteemed host ever wrestle for Mid Atlantic? If he did was he on tv? if he was on tv was he a souped up jobber like he was in GCA? i think he would have been a great fit in early 80s there, ooooooh the promos that Piper could have utilized
They didn't cover his capture in the jungles of Borneo, or how he was forcibly civilized and made to live amongst humans ! 😀
I always wondered if Dutch misses his fellow apes ? He didn't mention that either.
Haha I have no idea about the lore of his character. I'll have to check into it sounds fun
I could listen to Dutch talk All day long such a great story Teller and a great wrestler
Glad this was covered on the show. Did his brother train him or did he have someone on the outlaw shows teach him in the late 60s? Also, what was his brother's connection to the business?
Is it me or is dutches skin yellow looks like liver trouble hope I'm wrong
It's you
I think you’re right when you compare him to James
Dutch was a good looking rooster in his young days, what happened?
Was it Rincon, GA, Dutch???
Dutch had to stay in shape for his car rides with pat patterson
What year did he start & how old was Dutch? Don't think he noted that in the 1st questions answer....
Edit- he said what year at 10':39 kinda..
Wow, so at one point waaaaay back, he actually looked like a real wrestler???
Nolensville road Nashville fairgrounds…👍
I'm from Albertville Al!
