This fasting period prompts reflection on the life, challenges, and triumphs of Jabez. As a descendant of Judah, a people with a historical tendency to stray from God's will, Jabez's story in 1 Chronicles chapter 4 stands out.
Within the lineage of Judah, Jabez emerged as an honorable figure, surpassing the conduct of his less commendable brothers. In verse 9, it is written, "Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez, saying, 'Because I bore him in pain.'"
