  • ・Context and Instructions:
4 weeks ago I was practicing the Kronos Island skip for Sonic Frontiers. By getting near the waterfall cliff where you fight Giganto, the first Super Sonic Boss, there will be a few enemies that are required to make this glitch work. Just farther along the side of that very same cliff, there are also three floating enemies that can also make this skip work. I show off both in this video.
To perform this skip, you have to lock onto an enemy. For the enemies on the ground, you'll have to parry them too. You do not need to parry the flying enemies. The inputs to launch Sonic into the area will definitely take some practice because, from what I've researched and from the hours I spent testing it, they seem to be frame perfect. You'll have to lock on, parry, and then roll, jump-stomp (an unlockable skill), and boost all in one go in order to send Sonic flying. (This is the same for PS4, PS5, the Xbox Series versions, and PC)
I made two saves. One without any Chaos Emeralds gathered and one with all six before the boss fight. The save I made without any emeralds will say "Get the Chaos Emerald". There's a waypoint marker on the side on the screen that shows just how high Sonic goes once he gets launched into the air. From what you see in the footage, it seems that once Sonic is launched around the 1700+ range, he'll get over the first invisible red barrier before entering the boss area, but it's not entirely consistent and I found tilting the camera upwards first makes it more consistent. However, there's something interesting about the two saves I made:
    ・No Chaos Emeralds:
As you can see, the save without any Chaos Emeralds obtained shows that the Giganto Boss isn't even in his boss arena. Once you're able to get inside, nothing happens because he isn't there, unlike all the other console and PC versions I've seen online of other attempting this skip. Keep in mind, this is the Nintendo Switch version with everything updated.
    ・Six Chaos Emeralds:
Similar to no Chaos Emeralds, nothing happens when you enter the boss arena or the area surrounding it. This biggest difference being that the Giganto model is, in fact, in it's boss arena but it has no programmed path to move around in like in the actual boss fight and it has no collision. You can walk through it but it doesn't do anything and it's feet aren't even touching the ground.
I reloaded and started up the boss fight like normal to show that before Sonic turns Super, Giganto only walks in a circle and his feet actually do touch the ground. I assume Giganto may also show up if you have only one Chaos Emerald but I found it to be the most strange and amusing considering you're only able to get the required six in the Open Zone before you fight him, but it seems the waterfall cutscene may be the actual trigger for the boss fight, at least in the Switch version.
Additionally, I showed the cutscene where Sonic is air-dashing across a lake and running through a ravine before he sees Giganto and jumps into the boss arena. This cutscene-only section can actually be explored but it's strangely locked off by two invisible walls - one separating Sonic from the Open Zone area, and one separating this empty cutscene-only area from the boss arena.
I ran around the boss area a couple times but since there is no way for Sonic to boost, jump, D I E, or glitch out of this wide open area, you're essentially soft-locked in so DON'T fill up all of your saves in here unless you want to start from a new save file. However, you can actually get out the in-between cutscene area and return to the Open Zone because that very same body of water that Sonic air-dashed over in the cutscene is surprisingly deep which means you can drown in it and return back to the Open Zone.
I continued to record for two and a half hours but only showed you the interesting parts that weren't me reloading saves, Sonic getting stuck between collision, or me failing over and over again to pull off the skip with the regular enemies on the ground (yes, I am both really bad at performing this skip and it is actually really hard to do, even for someone who isn't playing on a GameCube controller).
・Remember, this was played on the fully updated Nintendo Switch version in the middle of December.
The saves were made back in November so I could practice. However, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet kinda took my entire attention so I haven't came back to this game in a few weeks. That being said, when I first practiced this skip, there was this really weird audio glitch that happened once I was right over the boss arena. Since then, Sega released Version 1.10, the current version as of recording this, which corrected audio related issues among a few other minor fixes so that may be what happened. That being said, I still find all of this way past cool.
