Its actually completely possible to skip the Boomerang. You can throw a bomb across the lava to hit the switch in the Winter Spirit Tower instead. Though I think you'll still get the Boomerang the first time you complete the Dance Hall, and there are other prizes to win - in an unlinked game the most notable being the Strange Flute that becomes Dimitri's Flute.

The snakes look like friends. They’re very cute … yet deadly.

The old man was willing to pay Link off so he'd leave. There you are, getting your isolated Hermit on, and then some kids start tackling each other and getting into a tizzy over your cave. No wonder he paid him off to leave.
I feel like the stealth section with Rosa is one that people are meant to fail once because HOW do you see through that fake-out? Real trial and error hours there.
And the dungeon seems a bit mixed- maybe it's just that I'm so used to dungeons that focus so much around it's puzzle item, but here it felt like bombs were just as big a part as the power bracelet, I feel like that means the puzzles weren't as memorable as they could be.
So anyway- the staff of seasons so far seems like a pretty fun idea as long as the game keeps coming up with fun ways to use the seasons traits, like winter meaning we can jump into a chimney and then get a shovel to get the snow away. Maybe future installments puzzles won't be as inspired, but that's a strong and fun way to use "winter" as the key to progress.
