I think y'all should give the s500 the miles treatment, get it refurbished by which I mean, get all the original wiring etc rewired the fridge working etc, also get rid of the rust and paint it midnight black. it would be a treat to see this statesman of a car relive it's past glory.

keep the merc,replace the steering wheel and the rear sunshade, sand the rust and add a new paint job, add 2012-2013 Mercedes s-class wheels, restore the engine and keep it as a daily driver for when you go to look for cars for a video, it will make the 1 to 2 hour long drives way, waayyy more comfy.

Samuel Bomorse Yeah, the sound of that N/A straight six is amazing, even on stock exhaust. Many roadsters feel small but I think the Z4 feels pretty big, but I can imagine for you it is small since you are that tall!

I paid £3800 for my E55 AMG, it one owner with a full dealer history but seriously high mileage (240,000 now) and has rusty doors, drives lovely though, not sure you could go faster for less money without mods. :)

@@popuptoaster In 2017 I bought a 91 miata for about 3500 eur which was a good deal at the time with no rust and all maintenance freshly done. Now you get for the same price either a rustshitbox or one that has an engine failure. Gotta pay around 5k or more for a good one

@@youxkio Uses to much fuel to be a cab you wouldn't make any money, my Father uses E class diesel estate cars as luxury cabs for his airport and theatre runs (he's semi retired now and doesn't work off the rank any more), customers don't care what engine the cab has and he averages over 60mpg. He put a crap ton of miles on them over a couple of years then part ex's for a newer one.

I suggest you do a "Baltic Sea Run"- Take it on the ferry to Gothenburg, drive it through Sweden, around the top of the Baltic, Through Finland, Ferry to Estonia, on through Latvia and Lithuania, Poland, Germany and then through Denmark back to Gothenburg. That would be EPIC in that car.

I think Alex is the real founder of CT because he made the channel grow so much and made 2.6 million people recognize him.
Edit: I am not biased against Adnan, in fact I love him for making CT, but I just said that the channel basically blew up because of Alex. Not saying anything against others but the synonym of the channel is Alex.
Alex is a key figure and definitely a pioneer for both the company and the brand but that doesn't make him them founder unfortunately. We can't just pick and choose who is the founder and owner of a company based on how much we like them. Also we don't know how much work Adnan has had to put in to get Car Throttle to this point.
Without Adnan the company and channel wouldn’t exist. Give the man some credit, he started all of this!
This surprised me too. Why didn't the "founder" participate in the hundreds of other vieos? I always thought it was Alex and his mates who did all of this... feel misled unfortunately.
DispelTheMyth CarThrottle as an entity is Adnan’s idea, and their company goes well beyond RUclips. Adnan is in some of their older videos and car reviews if you’re keen to check them out. In the end, he probably preferred working behind the scenes so Alex became the face of the company.
Alex and friends may be the main stars on the RUclips channel, but car throttle goes beyond that. It's a whole network and web store too.

@@DEXEuphoria combo off things really. MOTs are cheap, about £40-50 for the test. Of course they can flag up some seriously expensive problems on old luxury cars like this. That feeling that you're driving on borrowed time with these things before a bank busting repair is needed keeps a lot of people away.
Second will be the high road tax due to emissions (though this one is pre 2006 so shouldn't be too horrendous), and then of course fuel. Fuel is £1.20/L (gasoline) where I live. Can be higher than this by another 10-20p. Expensive when your car does 20 to the gallon (4.54 litres).
As well, I think the number plate system here devalues cars quite quickly. Due to the numbering system it is very easy to see how old a car is. Plenty of people really do feel like they can't be seen in a 10 year old car. So they must have the latest plate number on the drive.
Of course others just like to have new things all the time and can afford it. Others never want to own a car without a warranty. So buy new every 3 years on the finance train.
But this means the second hand buyers have plenty of used cars to choose from!
@@0tispunkm3y3r Thanks for the extensive answer.. from what I saw on TV I've expected the MOT to be the biggest problem.. I guess the congestion charge also comes into the equation when getting a used car besides the emissions.
In my country registration fee is proportional to the engine displacement until you hit the 2.0 l mark, after it the fee just skyrockets (due to "luxury tax") so only the really wealthy or car enthusiasts buy that sort of cars.. car dealers won't even import them cuz they'd just lose money on them.
With so many millions of citizens inside the UK one would think there's a lot of people interested in giving these cars some love they deserve. Seeing this S class in this condition really is saddening and I could only hope the guys will at least try to give it some love :D
All Mercedes from the years 1998 - 2002 suffered terribly with rust. They sorted this out for post 2002 cars and it is said the problem was caused by a new technique of stretching steel which they now dont do. Any car from that period will often have very bad wheel arches.
