Also, after watching some of your videos, I’ve gone ahead and upgraded my Hilton AMEX to the Aspire level ($450 USD annual fee compared to the previous $95), but saw the true value after you laid it out. Thank you!
I am probably going to get rid of my RBC avion as I find their redemption schedule is not very competitive aside from that standard 15k short haul r/t. After I transfer my remaining points to BA+50% by next week. If by some miracle I am able to switch up to the BA Avios CRD to get their 50K avios bonus that would be amazing as I have a move coming up to join your region in Eastern Canada and have significant expenses for moving that I will be paying and need to somehow capitalize on that for a long haul free trip.
Sign up bonus really only amount to $200-$500 range. The points earn usually takes forever to accumulate, you have to spend a lot of money to get points back. Could you explain how you can just sign up for all these credit cards and pay for vacations and get first class by just signing up for the bonus? It takes money to earn points imo.
I know this is late, but I think it is really about using your already existing expenses to obtain these points. Yes, it takes money to earn points. But if that money is in, say, every day grocery expenses / restaurants or gas that you would be spending anyways, you can use those expenses to generate the points. Without the credit cards, we would be spending on food / gas PLUS our travel trip. I’d rather spend money on the necessary items and let my points handle travel costs that I would have to swallow without those points. Hope this makes sense.
Now, nothing is really free right? What do the hotels and banks get out of this? Your patronage. It’s no secret that banks rely on exploiting the financially illiterate and racking up interest / fees. Banks also partner with other hotels, stores, and airlines to form a very profitable commission-filled relationship. Although you are using points to pay for things, you are incentivized to redeem those points on specific companies. This blocks out competition and keeps the customers on their property, which is where they want them. Two major takeaways here: 1. We only spend what we are spending anyways. Nothing over. Never go into debt to chase bonuses. 2. Companies really value your patronage. They WILL bend over backwards keeping you in their hotels with all of these deals and partnerships JUST so that you stay at a Hilton rather than a Marriott. Which means you have to do some analysis on your end and figure out what your goals are and plan accordingly. Different companies are paired with different banks.
Hey, I’m looking to take then next step on getting a US amex card to build US credit. Do you still standby 24/7 Parcel services as a US address provider(Niagara location)?
Thanks a lot to hint how to get the points. Can you talk about how to use the aeroplan point for upgrade as well as how to redeem the points for 2 people where each has their own aeroplan points. Thanks.
Second one is easy - just tell the Aeroplan agent you would like to book out of two accounts simultaneously and they can help you with it. Make sure both accounts have enough miles. As for using Aeroplan for upgrades - here's a primer by one of my contributors: princeoftravel.com/blog/redeeming-aeroplan-miles-for-star-alliance-upgrades
I'd like to hear if you specifically only apply for CC's when the annual fee is covered for the first year. Do you cancel before the next year's fee is due? How does this affect credit rating?
I also apply for cards when the first year isn't waived... if the points I'm getting outweigh the annual fee, such as the Amex Platinum and Business Platinum Cards. I'll cancel if I don't find it worthwhile to keep in the long run, and the impact on credit score is minimal as long as you always pay your bills in full and on time.
Welcome to London Mate! 👍 Shame we don't have sign up bonuses or multipliers that are worth it over here... I still enjoy your vids tho... How long are you in town for?
Filmed this early this week and came back on Tuesday! 😄Had a good visit (I used to do my study abroad in London too) + may be back for New Year's Eve, we'll see.
I once heard someone purchased some precious coins at a certain valve but instead hanging on them to grow over time they turned around and sold them the next days for face value giving them $20,000 in points.
I love your videos, informative. I have ridiculous amount of Marriot Bonvoy points and soon I'll transfer them to Aeroplan and use the tricks in your videos. I wish I could do it faster but have mortgage application coming up soon dont wish to apply for any aeroplan credit cards at the moment. But yeah, Aeroplan is gonna be my main card one day
Thanks for all your info but I was just wondering when you sign up for multiple credit cards at the same time how can you spend so much to earn the welcome bonus if you like to pay off your cc's in full each month? You must have a lot of money to reach the spend amount for all these cards?
Great question - the idea is to time your applications around any major purchases rather than doing them all at once. Furthermore you can also explore “manufactured spending” techniques which let you meet spends without actually spending money. I’ve got a video on this topic too, but it isn’t discussed much publicly online because the methods may not last very long if they were.
You do an entire video on manufactured spending. ...and how it's selfish wrong and immoral, then you make many others about how wonderful these points are. Appears to be hypocrisy

No better way to finish off a Saturday night than with a Prince of Travel Video
Ricky - you're the best. The wealth of knowledge you bring to your videos is unparalleled.
Product switching is great advice. With AMEX here in the USA, I’ve been able to move around my credit limits.
Also, after watching some of your videos, I’ve gone ahead and upgraded my Hilton AMEX to the Aspire level ($450 USD annual fee compared to the previous $95), but saw the true value after you laid it out. Thank you!
I always watch to the end not only for the great content but for the often funny outtakes! Keep 'em coming Prince of Travel
Hey, great stuff! Have you got any tips or recommendations for people based in the UK?

Ricky, Can you give me a scenario when a PS is a good idea, and when not needed ? Thanks Susan !
If you're reasonably certain of getting the bonus on a product switch, then it's always a good idea. Works best with TD and RBC.

@@PrinceofTravel Cool, good to hear. New Year's Eve should be cool this year.. as usual!

Please add the list of 5x to 10x online sales, great channel
Lovely video and always...really cool dude.
You can mix up those RBC pts with those Alaska airlines miles?
Nope, you can't transfer RBC to Alaska. You can only transfer to Avios, American Airlines, WestJet, or Asia Miles.
Does anyone know how to Ms online?
Yes
@@PrinceofTravel 😂
You are amazing :)
Why thank you :)
At the end of the day, you need to do MS. But you can not even mention that, because you will lose the CC affiliation.
Then why did I mention it? 🤔💰

I never said “wrong” and “immoral”
