This is great! Would be interested to see more of these crazy routing redemption videos! Looking to go to Seychelles in the future and stopping in Kenya.
I have almost 200k points now and planning to use it for travel later this year or early next. Your videos on the redemption of points are very important and useful. I may have to review earlier ones for my purpose, Thanks so much for your articulate information - no one else on RUclips presents this as well.
@@PrinceofTravel Doing well staying safe and healthy thanks. But approaching the one year anniversary since I've been on a plane!! Even the travel withdrawal stage is long in the past! LOL
Thanks for talking about the Sao Tomé and Principe sweet spot. I remembered vaguely reading about it before but couldn’t remember where. Bucket list for sure although apparently it’s not a very safe place.
@@PrinceofTravel I noticed that ACC-TMS in J costs 249$ in taxes whereas YUL-TMS is 149$! Isn't that strange? The route is great BTW, YUL-LIS-TMS. Direct flight from LIS to TMS, that surprised me. I know that it has Portuguese history but still.
I remember Lucky mentioned about the new Aeroplan program and that there will be lots of great redemption opportunities. But since he’s not Canadian, I don’t think he’s as on top of this program as you are. You really know this program inside and out and some of the more complicated route is just hilarious... only avgeeks would be excited about. Your content is very helpful and I should look into signing up Aeroplan program so I may do some arbitraging in the future when world opens up again. 😉
Aeroplan from YYC to Tokyo is now up to 75k in business class, but booking the same flight from YVR is 50k. So the sweet spot requires a cheap flight to Vancouver (
Hello Ricky! Thank you very much for this video, great and clear as always. Re. the latitude attitude, the eUpgrades can be used only on Air Canada, right? However, I have come across several instances where the latitude ticket costs more that the lower business ticket on the same flight. This is likely to happen often with the dynamic pricing, isn't it? In that case, what is the advantage of the latitude attitude? Thanks for your reply.
No real advantage in this case - it's best for when the Latitude price represents significant savings compared to Business (Lowest). Just be sure to always compare the two whenever your goal is to fly Air Canada business class.
Is there any newer information on Aeroplan? Seems that Air Canada doesn't fly to Hawaii anymore...I tried to get a round-trip flight from Honolulu to Frankfurt and they only offered a Lufthansa non-stop from Vancouver.
With the importance of priority rewards in the new program maybe there should be a video about how to get elite status and start earning priority rewards. Maybe a video on segment runs?
If I want to book a particular Star Alliance partner, I.e. Turkish Airlines, do I book directly with them or can I indicate this preference to the Aeroplan booking agent. Thanks.
Well done mate! Great video! What is the best frequent flyer program for flying between YUL and VIE? VIE is just over 4000 miles in aeroplan so not the best value as per the current points rdeeming table. Also, please make a video about the air canada tier levels! Cheers.
Aeroplan will probably still be a good deal here, even if it's not necessarily the best sweet spot. You could also consider flying into MUC or PRG and taking a budget airline or the train if the Aeroplan points savings are worth it.
Thanks for another great video Ricky...Interesting on the Partner Airline point chart from YVR to TYO that there is no Premium Economy point value...I flew this route on ANA back in 2019 and flew Premium Economy, so why wouldn't they have it available to book that? Only Economy, Business and First have values listed.
@12:00 you mentioned ACC-TMS (which is 596 miles). You said book in business class for 15k miles in J, but it sounds like 50k. Was initially excited, but UNFORTUNATELY, its copay YQ or taxes is $200 and the flight itself is ringing up at $266 revenue for Economy, so not so exciting. I guess it does yield business class for 2 hours for only 15k though. The SCL-YYZ is more exciting of course. If Canada wasn't bonkers about covid, I might care.
do those found "crazy route" mean I can add a stop over on those passing cities for 5k too? Example: Santiago to Bogota thru YYZ "crazy route" for 30k in biz. If positive I would love to find routes that for 30k biz (or less in economy) will let me land in Argentina (EZE specially) starting anywhere in South America with stop over in USA, Canada or Mexico...
the eUpgrade strategy looks awesome but most of my 48 credits will expire in Feb and May. Is there any way to prevent this? Should I just book a ticket for October and use the eUpgrade strategy?
You need to use the eUpgrades on flights that take place before the expiration. You should've had your Elite Status extended though, so you can get another set of eUpgrades in your account that will go until December 2021.
Id like to get the TD aeroplan reserve but aeroplan’s redemption process doesn’t seem worth it. You still have to pay for taxes. I have a TD first class travel but wondering if should upgrade it. I keep changing my mind. Has anyone compared the two cards?
by flying Air Canada or to buy Star Alliance flights from Air Canada Website. or you can match your Marriott Bonvoy Titanium to Aeroplan Silver 25k elite status ~Chris
Gosh so good! Cant wait for flying to be back! QUestion, the award flights i booked with aeroplan prior to the new aeroplan, am i able to make changes due to covid? Im guessing no... :(
@@PrinceofTravel Wow! Didn't expect the reply! Thanks :) I have TD infinite Priv, visa, so I do have that 25K status. I still don't see that e-upgrade option anywhere on the booking window.. I will call Aeroplan to find out why.. Thanks for taking time to reply :)
I'm so confused by Aeroplan points. Looking at Japan in March and found 35K flights (71K round trip), but they're subject to $95 in tax. If you want the tax covered, it's 81K points. Identical flight is $1167 including tax. The value of 81K points then is 1.4 cents which is pretty crummy if that's a sweet spot. Is the Prince of Travel valuation of 2.1 cents based on business class travel, or is it that promotions on paid fares are devaluing Aeroplan points? What concerns me is that there's always awesome deals from YVR to Tokyo ($600-800) and Hawaii ($400-500) that lead me to believe these flexible point programs (Scotia, HSBC, etc.) are more valuable for economy travel unless I'm missing something. Love the channel BTW; binge watched almost all your videos so thank you!

None that I can think of. Just be aware that any redemptions made by a Family Sharing member will be deducted proportionally to everyone's balance.
