The sin of man (humankind) is to defy God and not take His word at face value. This is why God declared Abraham righteous because Abraham believed God.
God never felt threatened by man. Maybe upset or jealous but not threatened. He just see the beginning of their shenanigans. He knows and sees everything, including men's intention. This happened in Genesis chapter 11. They were doing things without including God, and the Bible tells us to acknowledge God in all our ways. We were created to have a relationship with God, but these people were excluding God out and thats probably why He got upset or jealous. They also disobeyed Him by trying to stay/ live in one place when God told us to be fruitful, multiply, and full the earth. You would have thought that man would learn their lesson, especially after God flooded the earth because of the sin and evilness of men, which happened in Genesis 6-7. But men didn't learn their lesson they continued to live without him and conspire against Him, and that is why He confused their language.
My view is that god is afraid of his own creation . If humanity were to truly unite , the possibilities are endless . Why is an all knowing & all powerful god afraid of a United people ? Strange if you ask me
God isn't afraid of His own creation. That's ridiculous. He has the power to wipe us all out in an instant, we can't do anything to harm Him. He nearly did that with the great flood, but Noah's faith in Him pleased God and He decided to spare humanity through Noah, Noah's wife, their three sons, and the sons' wives. Everything else (humans, animals, plants, etc) was destroyed. All humans are full of wickedness and evil and can't truly unite no matter how hard we all might try. God is the only one who could unite us, though. He has that power. One day every knee shall bow before Him and acknowledge Him as God. But only those who are saved through faith in Jesus Christ (God's son, who God sent to once and for all save humanity from being enslaved to their sinful nature) will get to live in Heaven and get to live in a world totally united in Christ. Heaven will be free from sin, sickness, lies, hatred, deceptions, from every wicked and evil thing you can think of. And in the meantime, while we wait for that, God gives each of His children (when you become a believer, you are adopted into God's family and become co-heir with Christ) the Holy Spirit inside of us as a downpayment. The Holy Spirit helps us individually to overcome the faults and temptations that we face in this world and to grow in godliness and help us to know and do God's will for our lives. God loves us so much that He's provided all this for us, knowing we couldn't achieve anything like this on our own, if we will just choose to accept His gift.
It’s not being afraid of His own creation, that’s silly. If anything God is more concerned about what would happen to His creation when they get themselves involved with things goes against Him. God knows the true intentions of their hearts and it was filled with pride and the notion to challenge Him. This was a time making making a name for yourself and Nimrod who was a mighty warrior of the time and ruler wanted to do just that. But it’s really more to that
Sounds like God is being insecure. After all as humans stay together they would grow and need to expand their area of living and would eventually fill the Earth. The concept of having some people are your chosen is weird and divisive unless you aren't the god that created or made those other people and you secretly don't really like them. God needs to chill as the more one looks into these things and ask questions the more psychopathic god is seeming.
Thanks I really needed that answer.

This is a BS explanation! Can u explain why God felt threatened by man? How advanced was mankind that they could build a tower to reach the heavens?
