    • Show Me The Way - Pete...
For the first time on the channel, we are checking out Peter Frampton doing a live version of Show Me The Way! This was another one I didn't know that I had heard previously in my childhood! This tune was absolutely killer! The vocals were on fire, talk box on the guitar was so cool and that chorus hook!!! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #peterframpton #showmetheway #70smusic #guitarist #guitarplayer #guitarsolo #musicreactions #themidnightspecial

He is associated with the talk box, others have used it, but not as extensively as he did. In Do You Feel Like We Do he uses it a lot.

As a teenager, I worked in a store on Sundays. The first hour of work, everybody worked together to put the store back together after the kids would destroy the displays on Saturday. We would blast Frampton Live on the loud speaker. It's an awesome way to get mundane tasks done.

I thought I'd suggest another song by Peter Frampton, if interested. "Peter Frampton - Do You Feel Like We Do - Midnight Special 1975 FULL" (by the channel: fraudiay) --Peter Frampton didn't "create" the talk box, but he did play a pivotal role in popularizing it during the 70's & 80's. And the talk box became one of Frampton's signatured sound due to two of his biggest songs that featured the talk box. This song I've suggested is one of those song's I've referenced. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you. peace out~

Its easy to make a talk box, its just a horn driver in a box, with a tube hooked to the driver, and a on and off switch, if I'm remembering correctly, its been many many many years since I've made one.

I don't know if he was the first, but I remember The Scorpions and John Bon Jovi using the voice box. As for the cymbals position setup, I guess it's for show more than anything else.

The song Do You Feel Like We Do highlights the talkbox even more.
First artist I heard use one was Glen Campbell on a variety show.
    Then Iron Butterfly.
Extensive use in the extremely long song
    Butterfly Bleu.
    It's just a little longer than In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.
When they performed it on live television they went commercial free for the entire song.
But the talkbox roots go back to Alvino Rey and the St Louis Blues.
He's technically the inventor of the talkbox. And you can watch that performance with stringy the guitar puppet. The talkbox gives it its voice while he plays the steel guitar.
That music video was produced in 1944.😮
Because of his knowledge in electronics Alvino Rey electrified his banjo. He then worked with Gibson for the solid body electric guitar pickup. He also had many other contributions for music reproduction.
Never seen anyone react to Butterfly Bleu.
Seen Iron Butterfly perform at the ASU Activity Center in 1968. Also seen them in 1980 at the celebrity.
Never had the opportunity to see Frampton.
If it's not appropriate or allowed on RUclips I still suggest you watch the Avino Rey video.
Be warned the puppet May freak you out.
But you'd be treated to big band sound. You'll also get a look at one of the major forces in how music is today. Despite no one even knowing of him.

I first heard of Alvino Rey in high school. The only two years I attended before College.
That public high school was considered a music School. They had two classrooms teaching guitar all day. Each room had about 60 students. Also had electric piano and music theory classes all day.
I was in music theory marching band concert band mixed chorus.
What's also in barber shop and Stage Band.
We play both Jazz and Blues. We had our own van.
In the only two years I attended high school before College I received the equivalent of 5 years of Music credits. Lol
No time to pursue music after that.( except for pleasure)
I was in Civil Air Patrol and working on a degree in Aeronautics and Structural Engineering.
Plus I was earning my way as a farrier also involved with horse breeding and racing.

Joe Walsh was pretty much the first to record with the talk box. His song Rocky Mountain Way was the first. Frampton's album Frampton Comes Alive doesn't have a bad song on it. That album was the soundtrack of an entire generation of teen age kids in the 70s.
