Those roads have been bad from day one. It was all rock stone when my father build, lots of blasting. With all the building of homes and the heavy equipment vehicles, cement trucks, dump trucks hauling those heavy stone. They stop fixing the roads, it was getting too expensive, the rain also damaged the roads🥲

My mother owned one of those houses on Forest Hills. I loved it, but my brothers preferred living in the USA instead. The view at night was spectacular. My wife, who grew up in Jamaica, didn't want to live there in the 90's.

Gooood Sunday Morning to "My New Favourite Couple" From: Ontario Canada. Just saw a Video of You Guys going through Smokey Vale, about seven months ago. It's unfortunate that You were not accompanied by someone who know the History of those neighbourhoods. A ::The now Smokey Vale: was what was the original Belview Plantation. A very large Pimento Plantation. I am not sure of the name of the Original Owners/Planters. In 1920 The Walenta family from Adelphi in St.James, bought Belview. One of my Grandmothers (my mother's mother) as an House girl/Nanny migrated from St.James to St.Andrew, with that family. The nearest shopping area was Mannings Hill (north of the plantation). It was at Mannings Hill that my Grandmother met my mother's father, who was a Young Leathercraft Instructor at the Stony Hill Industral School. (Horse and Buggy was the premier mode of transportation, then). *By the way Lady Madge: One of my mother's sister was Elismae (I called her Aunt Mazie). The Walentas left the property to the Catholic Church. The Church operated the St. Michael's Semenary from the Belview Great House for about twenty years, until they sold the property for Housing developement sometimes in the 1980s. A little further west would be The Mount Salus Great House (Owned by The Sharpes: who were the largest Citrus farmers in Jamaica). A part of their property is now intigrated into the Community of Smokey Vale/Belglade Heights. Take Care Now! Searching for more of Your Videos. Just found one done in Long Bay, Portland and another in St.Thomas.

They should get their MP for the area to fix the roads, its not the responsibility of the homeowners. Don't vote for MPs that do nothing for your community. Talk to them and if they don't heed vote them out, Period!

It is a new development, so it will take awhile before the government get around to fixing the roads. The rich residents maybe they could fast track, getting proper roads by financing it. With houses like these I am sure they could extend their budget to include resurfacing.

People who live in those big houses have live-in maids and gardeners plus a laundress and a cleaning lady who come twice each week to do the washing/ironing and cleaning.
Not so much the washing, unless they just sort the laundry to put in the washing machine, dry in the dryer, then sort and fold. You are thinking about the old days when the laundresses would actually wash with their hands and hang out to dry in the beautiful Jamaican sunshine.👍🏾🇯🇲🇺🇸

Maybe a 'stupid thought' but could it be that the roads were purposely left that way to make it 'not too easy' for unscrupulous to escape 😮🤔

Can’t disagree with you in that. A massive road improvement project is already underway. It’s slow going and hopefully the contractors don’t nyam it all away. Bless up!

It is a new development, so it will take awhile before the government get around to fixing the roads.
The rich residents maybe they could fast track, getting proper roads by financing it.
With houses like these I am sure they could extend their budget to include resurfacing.

People who live in those big houses have live-in maids and gardeners plus a laundress and a cleaning lady who come twice each week to do the washing/ironing and cleaning.
Not so much the washing, unless they just sort the laundry to put in the washing machine, dry in the dryer, then sort and fold. You are thinking about the old days when the laundresses would actually wash with their hands and hang out to dry in the beautiful Jamaican sunshine.👍🏾🇯🇲🇺🇸
