    FYI: there’s a difference between fever grass and lemon grass.
    I enjoy this video, admiring the garden , looking so healthy with everything that I love . Wish I could share a video of mine with you both, gardening is my passion.

    @redbuttonjournal another inspirational vlog.Being British gardening is a big thing for me. So when in Jamaica I talk about gardens to my relatives. With the exception of my parents and a few of the elders. A garden represents growing vegetables and hard food. Not flowers and plants and a lawn 😊 Maizie is giving me lots of food for thoughts. The cherry tree and pumpkins is impressive.

    The garden looks amazing. Are you guys going to get to laying birds? That lemon grass is very popular in Thai cooking Tom Yum soup. What I do to get rid of aphids on my roses is I use dish soap, water, and a little bit of rubbing alcohol, and I spray it.

    Try planting a Grapevine, train it on a Tressel along the inside of your perimitter wall, also see if you can get a cuttings of a Figtree, also a Strawberry plant. They will grow and produce very well in a hot climate. I have been informed that all these 3 items are very expensive in Jamaica.

    Nice video Tom. It makes me want to get a place in St Thomas. I love your parody on Jamaica's 4 seasons😂 I miss having tropical fruits. I used to live in Miami Shores for many years and I had a home garden. I had every tropical fruit tree you could think of, including coconut, mango jackfruit, starapple, otietie (so) apple, naseberry, breadfruit, guava, banana, sweetsop, soursop, tamarind among many others. Then 3 years ago I sold my property and moved to N. Florida. I ttried sourcing and planting tropical fruits again, only to learn the hard way that my new zone does not support tropical trees in the winter. Now I'm only growing things that are cold hardy like: some citrus (Satsuma, Hamlin, Grapefruit, Calamondin, Meyer Lemon & Kumquat). I also have Loquat, Paw Paw (different from papaya), Figs, Mulberry, Blueberry, Blackberry & Lichee. I have some vegetables like scotch bonnet, calaloo, squash, thyme, onions, cabbage, carrot and egg plants. Im encouraged by your video to increase my variety. BTW, I have two avocado trees growing nicely; they are the cold hardy ones: Choquette and Mexicola. I brought a small root of fever/lemon grass from Miami and now I have 4 large roots. I drink the tea quite often for its medicinal benefits. And just a bit of info: there is Red Dirt near you in Land Top, Port Morant. Thanks for for the video Tom. Looking forward for more. Bless Up.

    • @RedButtonJournal
      @RedButtonJournal  Год назад

      @@RedButtonJournal The Paw Paw is really a relative of the sweetsop/custardapple/soursop, and is cold hardy down to 10° if my memory is correct. I had it once up in Philly and it was delicious. Yes, I do love my new place but I miss my old place in Miami. Blessings Tom

      The Jamaican cherry does not have a seed that grows into a tree. The "pits" are just tough cellulose partitions inside the fruit. A new tree is propagated when the root sends up a little sucker. OR you can circumpose a stem.

      @@philbek9055 according to the official scientific information, this states that the Jamaican cherry 🍒🌸 grows BEST when propogated from seeds,it goes on to state that the seeds should be soaked in water overnight, then sow the seeds in soil, this aids in the propagation, I'm currently collecting all types of unusual seeds and tropical seeds, I ordered from the internet,i get seeds from anywhere in the world 🌎🌍 posted to me here in the UK, I'm not returning to Jamaica, I'm traveling to Ghana this year to acquire some land, I'll grow all types of fruit trees over there,in Ghana the ackee and breadfruit tree grows twice as big as in Jamaica.
