Depends on who's rules they play by. If they play by the '85 season's rules, sure they win, but if they play by current NFL rules they don't because it negates their defense and it's physicality for intimidation. It's a totally different game today, defenses have largely been de-fanged and the running game is much less of a factor.
That’s why people wanted them to play them again bc McMahon was out that game. Game would have been different if he wasn’t out most likely. It’s a shame they couldn’t play each other again

They weren't undefeated...see '72 Dolphins.
Crazy good story! Today's nfl is so corporate and sanitized. Ugh.
Here is proof that the'85 defense was the best: the defense outscored the opponent's offense during the playoffs.
85 Bears were the best team in franchise history but not NFL history. A one hit wonder like the Bears Shuffle song,, they were a supernova not meant to last. Losing Buddy the following season to Philadelphia was the biggest blow to this team’s chances of becoming a dynasty in the league. Ditka was not as loved as Buddy was, and his coaching record after he did not have Buddy as D coordinator is an indication of that.
There was also the fact that McCaskey didn’t want to pay the good players the $ to keep them around.
The GREATEST TEAM IN HISTORY? "Danimal"....you were STACKED with Talent...ON BOTH SIDES of the Line Of Scrimmage. Had ARGUABLY The Best Running Back, The Best Defensive End of his time,(Dent) an INCREDIBLE DEFENSIVE COACH(The Buddster)......AND DEFENSE.......Linebackers to a MAN that would KNOCK YOU INTO NEXT WEEK. (Singletary&Co.)
A FULL-BLOWN RADICAL QUATERBACK(JimMcmahon) A MASCOT WHO ACTUALLY PLAYED ON DEFENSE AND OFFENSE.....(Fridge)
TRULY THE BEST COLLECTION OF "CHARACTERS" IN HISTORY......
AND I WAS REALLY THINKIN ABOUT....SURE, WHY NOT? MAAAAYBE THEY COULD QUALIFY AS THE BEST TEAM IN HISTORY.....BUT I KEEP STOPPING JUST A LITTLE BIT SHORT.......
YOU SEE THERE WAS THIS MONDAY NIGHT IN MIAMI........
WITH HISTORY RIDING ON THE LINE.....ONE TEAM WITH AN "ICONIC" COACH AND THE ONLY ONE TO EVER GO "UNDEFEATED" IN THE REGULAR SEASON TO DEFEND AND.....WELL.......PEOPLE THROW AROUND THE TERM "EPIC" A LITTLE TOO LOOSELY THESE DAYS FOR MY TASTE, BUT THAT GAME TRULY EARNED THAT DESCRIPTION.
SORRY Danimal....Your Team was EVERY BIT OF EXCEPTIONAL BUT NOT QUITE THE GREATEST IN HISTORY......OOOOOR THEY WOULD HAVE WON....THAT...GAME., THE ONE THAT WOULD HAVE ENDED ALL
SPECULATION AND DISCUSSION.
YOU WERE STILL REMARKABLE and we LOVED WATCHING YOU DO YOUR THING. YOU WERE THE ELITE AT YOUR POSITION, AND DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO BLOCK.
Not ARGUABLY........Walter WAS the best ever.
No need to fucking yell
I am a loyal Bears fan to the core, though I’m still frustrated the organization could only get 1 championship out of that incredible team. Belichick kept it together Year after year after year. There’s the difference, leadership. And Ryan was part of the debacle, he was an asshole.
Arkansas's Own
Team would crush today's super bowl teams....tall...long...strong and determined to wipe the floor with you.
Depends on who's rules they play by. If they play by the '85 season's rules, sure they win, but if they play by current NFL rules they don't because it negates their defense and it's physicality for intimidation. It's a totally different game today, defenses have largely been de-fanged and the running game is much less of a factor.
He said no one could stop them, BUT as I do remember from watching the game, the Dolphins DID stop them.
That’s why people wanted them to play them again bc McMahon was out that game. Game would have been different if he wasn’t out most likely. It’s a shame they couldn’t play each other again
@@jakeh6980 it’s too bad they couldn’t beat the ‘85 Patriots at home in the AFC title game
85 Bears were the greatest team in history but the 2007 Patriots would have given them a battle!
