That would be spectacular. Though she will have to face off with Glenn Close in Hillbilly Elegy. I'm almost positive she's supporting. If you read the wiki plot summary for it it seems clear.

Haven't gotten to see very many indie movies this year. The best movie I've seen so far is The Vast of Night which I wouldn't know about if is wasn't for you guys so thanks for that.
I have a feeling Soul could be a Best Picture contender since the last animated movie that was nominated for Best Picture was Toy Story 3. There were other animated films after Toy Story 3 in the 2010s that I felt like we’re not only deserving of winning Best Animated Film but deserved a Best Picture nomination as well like Inside Out, Coco and Spider-Man: Into The SpiderVerse.
@Diego Pisfil My predictions Best Picture Oscars 2021: Dune Tenet *THE FRENCH DISPATCH (WINNER)* Soul (runner-up) Da 5 Bloods Nomadland No Time To Die Mank
Yes!! Do the Right Thing and La Haine are two sides of the same coin about racism/police brutality. One starts with a riot and the other ends with a riot.
I'm heartbroken not to see Benedetta this year but at least The French Dispatch and Ammonite is happening this year. But when we acknowledge Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, let's acknowledge Francis Lee. He might have a Directing nomination. He's actually good.
Weirdly, directors of great lgbt films who are actually gay, have gotten shut out for Director recently. Like Carol and Call Me By Your Name. Exception: Moonlight (and Barry Jenkins is straight).
I think it's a great idea to highlight black movies but I wouldn't make it only necessaraly about race relations/police flicks. Black creatives also make other stuff and are often overlook. One of my favourite romance movies is "Love & Basketball" a very underrated film by Gina Prince-Bythewood, a black female director.
I don’t get why main stream Animation studios don’t submit their film them in competition, they really have nothing to lose if their good. I think it shows confidante.

This will be Saorise Ronan's first oscar and 5th nomintaion! I feel it in my bones. Don't know if it's supporting or lead but she WILL win it.
She could be facing Glenn Close in supporting. That would be a tough race. Both of them are fantastic actors.

They are going to give it to Glenn Close first for her long overdue Oscar before they ever give it to Ronan.

Hayao Miyazaki is coming back this year or next and you know he is going to make a big comeback
The Rumor is that Last Night in Soho was supposed to premiere here as well, but since it was postphoned to 2021 that wasn’t included at all.
Source?
shame, I was REALLY looking forward to that as I love Edgar Wright
You need to see Train to Busan! It's, as weird as it sounds, a beautiful zombie film.
Ammonite & Hillbilly ellegy will be highlight of best actress & supporting actress race

I hope Saoirse gets her due

ChrolliForever they didn’t give her her second because she wasn’t good in Steve Jobs
It should also be mentioned that Ammonite is distributed by Neon (I, Tonya, Parasite) in the US.

@PubFilm I honestly think it's between spike and Fincher for most of the big awards
With the current BLM protest going on around the world, I can see Da 5 Bloods gaining momentum.
There’s no way it doesn’t win best picture with the way the social climate is right now
@Fabian Capelli da 5 bloods might win pic and director

What do we know about cmon cmon?
God's Own Country, Francis Lee's first film, is available on Kanopy if you have that. It's absolutely worth seeing. It's very good.
Guys, if you gonna review films about racism I would recommend “Mississippi Burning” Best Picture nominee of 1988

Even though Soul is premiering, will it still get a Best Picture nomination?
Soul will definitely be eligible, and the fact that competition might be lower this year makes any movie that's releasing more likely to be nominated.
