This was FANTASTIC but I have a question - wonder if anyone who knows about organ playing/backing up a preacher can help… I noticed that Pastor Smith was “tuning up” (I think that’s the phrase!) for around about a minute but Glen Gibson waited until Pastor Smith said “I’ve got to close now” (around 0:54) before he started playing. I think instinctively, one might have just jumped in (probably prematurely) as soon as they heard Pastor Smith “tuning up” but Glen waited till he said “I’ve got to close now” Was there a reason why Glen waited? Just an organ enthusiast/beginner trying to understand why the greats do things the way they do 🥲 P.s. I’m not American but have always loved the cultural expression of the gospel called whooping/shouting, so would love to gain more insight !
Hate what church has become. Performance. The whopping is all an act the playing behind the whopping is all an act. I played the drums for many churches been in many meetings and everything is just business reason why I stopped playing drums all together. This sh!t is sad.
Please heal brother you sound so heart broken and your comment is full of bitterness stop this negativity just because you decided to leave the playing doesn't necessarily put in charge of what and how to conduct playing in church
When you play behind a true Baptist preaching it’s different man… 🔥✅ because they preach slower more room to fill in
Faith in action........luv it........pumping that organ as the prophetic words rolled.................continued blessing 2 u............

In certain cases preachers have different cues to let us musicians kno that they’re ready. In this case for E. Dewey his cue is “Ive got to close”
