    Thank you so much for your videos, I have a question, I have my tanned whitetail deer cape in the freezer, I've got some sewing to do ,but I only have little time each day to work on it, do I need to keep putting it back in the freezer or can I leave it out. Thank you 😊

      Hey thanks for watching! I will put them in the freezer when I am ready to stop and pull them back out to thaw a few hours before I am ready to work on them again.

    Do you have do alot clay work using the liners.

    • @ClearCreekTaxidermy
      @ClearCreekTaxidermy  Год назад

      Hey thanks for watching! If you use the ear butts that I am using in the video there are very little clay used with this method. The only place I put clay is to cover the screw heads where I attach the ear butts to the form and a little at the base of the ear butt to blend the transition between the ear butt and the head.

      I'm guessing maybe put thin layer of clay on ear butt & make wrinkles

      Hey thanks for watching! You can use the ear butts with bondo ears but you have to make sure after your bondo kicks it will fit down into the ear but. You might have to trim it down to fit.

    Do you use the medium ear butts or the large ones? I Havnt tried to fit a medium ear liner in a large ear butt, was gonna order some large ear butts but not sure if they fit the medium ear

    • @ClearCreekTaxidermy

      Hey thanks for watching! I don’t think the large ear liners will fit the medium ear butts and vice versa. I always match them up.

    How do you clay in an ear butt?

    • @ClearCreekTaxidermy
      @ClearCreekTaxidermy  Год назад +1

      Hey thanks for watching! There’s a couple of different was to clay in a ear butt. If you use the ear butts like I am using in my ear butt video you will use a very small amount of clay to blend the plastic ear butt into the form. For example you will run a small role of clay around the edges of the ear butt and smooth it out blending it into the form. The other method is if you use ear liners without butts or the bondo method you will have to build the whole ear butt out of clay. This will require using reference to be able to recreate the muscle details of the ear butt to get the correct size and shape.

      Hey thanks for watching! I use the McKenzie ear liner adhesive that is pink colored. It will make the ear color look very lifelike and there is very little painting required when doing your finish work.

I done my first turkey 3-4 years ago (tail and wings flat on the wall) 2 wing bone calls turned out pretty good. I found myself in the shop late before I knew it. Keep the videos coming.

    Nice are those ear butts back or half back. What type of hide paste works best for the ear liners? Thanks

    • @ClearCreekTaxidermy
      @ClearCreekTaxidermy  2 года назад

      Hey thanks for watching! The ear butts are half back. And I recommend the two part epoxy ear liner adhesive from McKenzie. I like the faster setup time on the epoxy versus the hide paste. I can set the ear skin in place and line up my hair patterns and have it locked into to place in a couple of hours. With hide paste it will take several hours for it to dry.

    I have no clue & just starting. Do you use critter clay around the base of the butts to blend them to the manakin/form?

    • @ClearCreekTaxidermy
      @ClearCreekTaxidermy  3 года назад +1

      Hey thanks for watching! You can use clay to blend your ear butts in to the form if you have some big gaps where the ear butt meets the form. If you have a good flat surface on the form where you’re ear butt sits and you use the type ear butt that I am using in the video you don’t have to use any clay. When the skin dries after it’s mounted you will have a nice smooth junction where ear butt and form meet.

    • @ClearCreekTaxidermy
      @ClearCreekTaxidermy  2 года назад +1

      Hey thanks for watching! I use the McKenzie whitetail ears. They are very easy to use just make sure to use the same size ear butt as liner they come in S,M, and Large. I typically use a medium for most deer and a large for a mature northern buck.
