The problem with recent idols are.... Most of them arent into fashion and all that. The reason why high fashion was pulled into kpop was actually because of some idols who can express themselves and understand it to innovate to grab brand attention. G-Dragon used to play alot with thrift and diy til givenchy and LV reached out to him. 2ne1 and their friendship with jereny scott that introduces y2k camp. Thom browne's interest after working with G-Dragon and SHINee... Idk whats going on w current ambassadors but they're just there. Nothinh exciting, apart from it cultivates the toxic culture in kpop fandom where fans wont stfu which idol is best for a brand when mostly the brand does the heavy lifting lol
after blackpink all these brands realized the selling power of k-pop idols and will hire any idol they can get like why are some of these groups getting brand ambassadorships before they even debut
@@kww10 I mean can we really say they aren’t into fashion just because their taste is not as avant garde? GD and CL liked thrifting but some of that could have been more about not having access before. Plus many of the current IDOLS are really young vs when Big Bang and 2ne1 debuted. They had more time to find themselves while the ones now are still playing.
To add to this, besides the fact that yes kpop idols have their event wardrobes curated (esp. if they’re ambassadors), kpop doesn’t represent the Korean gen. pop fashion (which, ultimately is who the brands are targeting when assigning kpop ambassadors). Koreans really prefer the “conservative” (think more like classic), clean cut, well put together look that whispers affluent over screaming fk you money or even “avant garde” looks. Obv, there are exceptions to the rule… just trying to provide more (cultural) context.
You seem like the kind of person who believes that fashion is all about colors and tacky maximalism. And the fact that you think Y2K fashion is good...
I know more companies aren't doing crazy crazy contracts, but a lot of KPop are severely or totally restricted in what they wear and how in order to present whatever the preferred image is. What assigned role/"character" they have in the group also impacts what image is presented. The companies often dictate the minute details of their lives.
I know that was like this before bit idk how it is today cause i only follow bts, and bts members do what they want and not what company wants. Even for brand deals they would choose their outfits to wear for photoshoots, like they did for LV. But if it someone from SM entertainment i can see how they will be dictated what to wear etc
hope you get a chance to cover all the ateez looks for paris! i’m partial to hongjoong for vivienne and seonghwa for isabel marant, but overall it was refreshing to see younger/newer idols who have a real eye for fashion and were styled/styled themselves accordingly. nct’s johnny for acne studios was also fun!
I just knew you were gonna like Jay’s outfit (in the pink from Enhypen) He’s definitely one of the members that understands and is interested in fashion
Every time I watch videos about fashion reviews i'm always curious what they will say about jay's fashion. And so far they always say things like "he knows what he's doing"
I mean can’t you argue that is every celebrity and influencer? Some celebrities may have more power and say in the clothes but at the end that is what the designer have them.
I've been saying! Most of them are pointed just because. It used to be idols or people who are really into fashion or either has the charm to sell the looks. Now, it's just a matter of their name and using their influence aka fanbase lol. When the true fashionistas like SHINee Key should've received the attention imo.
These K-pop members have little to no choice in anything they do!! They have been micromanaged since they got to the camp or whatever. They don't get to eat, speak, dress, sing, dance, or probably accept any invitations or brand deals unless management has cleared it. These poor young people probably would slay with their personal style and access to anything or anyone they wanted, but they can't. It's so sad. I hope and pray they recover and survive this part of life and thrive afterward. Maybe in the not so distant future we will see ex pop stars coming out as their own authentic selves??? Can't wait for that.
Oh! I was hoping you'd talk about Hyunjin (Stray Kids) at the Versace event. There was a lot of controversy about the outfit's color palette, and it would have been nice to have an expert breakdown. Also, there was a picture going around about him looking exactly like the Medusa logo? Anyway, thank you for including I.N. He's actually the one in the group with a sense of style, not that it matters much when it comes to this type of event since they all have stylists, but still.
yeah, I.N. is the one who is really in to fashion out of the group, though I think Felix's friendship with Nicolas has gotten him more interested in the inner workings. And we all know that Donatella basically adopted Hyunjin, lol. Personally, I didn't like the mustard yellow/brown color, but he still looked effortless in it. that totally could be b/c I hate yellow *shrugs
I was looking forward to your thoughts on Enhypen! Their vibe is such a great fit for Prada. They’re also really into fashion, especially Ni-ki and Jay. Most recently they contributed to designing their own tour merch. As for Enhypen being chic - I think they are. The outfits they put together themselves for example the airport or soundcheck really highlight their personal styles.
I find it so interesting that most of the women wore the same black sling backs and all the men was black loafers. I felt like that needed to shift left over stock or there was a sale on 😂
I hope Luke doesn't miss Ateez in the Paris fashion week review (if he does one) Both Hongjoong and Seonghwa had interesting looks that he might appreciate, like Hongjoong's Vivienne Westwood look and Seonghwa wearing a dress and kitten heels! You can tell they love fashion and experimenting with style and gender norms
Dina Asher with that Tiffany blue and burgundy with her skin tone looks fabulous, it really brings out her beauty. The Korean boy band the young man who’s name I didn’t catch, the dusty pink and Herron bone same story he looks great, and I.N in that woven bottaga again great the colour story makes him look great.
Oh this is a bold title and video. 😈 I’m not into Kpop like I use to be but the fans seem to have gotten worse. Let me watch and like the video before any potential trouble happens.

Hi, Luke. Will you have a breakdown of the select shows you attended, or will you go crazy and cover all of them? I'm curious which shows you attended!
I'd really like a video focusing on just kpop idols as quite a lot of them attended. I've always thought that kpop idols were pretty bland when it came to fashion(playing it safe or whatever) but their fans..my god if anyone daresay anything other than praises they are torn to shreads. So I'd really love to hear your thoughts as you know and understand fashion a lot better than me. I'd love to know if you also think they are bland or am I the one with trash taste😅
They are not bland. Their everyday styles are cool. For the fashion shows I would say their culture kind of focuses more on modest clothing than daring ones
Julia Garner won hands down for me. The combination of materials, the beautiful color, and the way she sold the garment. Simple and sexy. She knew she looked great
I'm sorry if this offends people but the K pop stars have always been marketing vehicles for South Korean corporate conglomerates and the joke has been on us, because we are told they are legitimate cultural sensations and if we don't appreciate them there must be a problem with us. I so serious when I say the entire K pop industry is a calculated effort by South Korean megacompanies to try to improve SKs name and brand recognition overseas, this is also called "soft power" in international relations.
I dint think anything you said is considered a great secret is not like consumers of K-content have wool over their eyes. It isn't all that different from other major entertainment industries. Also, soft power is a wonderful tool for smaller countries that want a voice on the international stage. And despite the (sometimes tragic) shortcomings of the industries that manifest it, it's a much less threatening and nuanced power than let's say military power or even traditional diplomacy. I think watching the synergy of companies, creators and government is actually quite fascinating. We're also seeing that cultural power in the hands of people who haven't historically pursued large geographic expansion such as many western counties, or China and Japan. Again, I find the phenomenon truly fascinating.
@@bizzibaby I dont think you understood my comment. "soft power" is fine, when its real and organic. For example, Japan has many beloved cultural exports that give it a huge amount of clout around the globe. What SK tried to do was take a shortcut to this by manufacturing a "craze" or "sensation" where there really wasn't one. Very few people even in SK even care about most of the KPOP "celebs"
@@moricantosInteresting that you use Japan as an example, when their Kawaii hello kitty culture has been a topic of discussion as a way to rebrand, so to say, their image, after all the war crimes they committed in WW2.
I've seen a lot of comments here upset that their fave isn't in the video. With all due respect and as a member of a lot of different fandoms, it's Luke's video, not yours. Fandoms get bad names when they pressure creators like this. How will we get anyone's honest engagement if we dictate how and when they should interact with idols?
The Kendall Jenner. I feel like Kendall is trying to be in her relatable era, she is visiting colleges, sharing her cocktails. She is trying to fit into that lifestyle
Julia Garner just looked fabulous in that ensemble!! Loved it. ❤ Whilst not every brand ambassador may care all that much (we get it, they're there to get the bag), I feel like it's such a missed opportunity when brands don't work closer with their ambassadors that actually do care and have a great sense of their own style. If the goal is to make more sales and move product off shelves, then they're really not making the most of what they have.
Well no because it’s not so simple. Often it’s recycled fur, ie from an animal already dead and made into fur so it’s good it’s recycled because otherwise it’s a waste to bin it. The other thing is faux fur, is just made from plastic adm degrades into microplastics terribly bad for the environment. So no , it’s not as simple as being gross. I understand you don’t like it but sometimes it’s the ethical decision. .
@16:47 every time I see someone in all black I hear Anna Wintour's voice from that interview where she gets asked what we'll never see in Vogue: "Head to toe black". She hates it 😂
What makes the difference between a good and a bad collab between a K-Pop Idol and a brand is how interested said idol is in fashion. I don't know for Enhypen, but I.N from Stray Kids extensively shared his love of fashion in many interviews, and his recognized amongst the group has having a true styling identity. You should check his editorial for DAZED Korea in partnership with Bottega, the styling is chef's kiss. On a capitalistic side note, placing Idols at fashions shows is a marketing move from both SK pushing its international image and western brands desire to have a piece of its market. This leads to less fortunate partnerships, where outfits are afterthoughts and where the Idols wearing them don't have a say or a clue about the brand.
Yesss I.N is the one that is totally into fashion that he might not be an ambassador but his partnerships with the brands he's working with are enough to show how influence he's in the topic. Look at how he introduced us into Alexander McQueen before and now for Bottega Veneta. Not only that, he even introduced us to many local brands that everything he wears and post on his IG, people will find the brand and follow his style. Looking at his IG feed is so *chef kiss*. The whole details on the outfits are just satisfying.
why do fashion people spread these lies?? i went to milan for vacation and was expecting people to be DRESSED and they were all dressed like normal. Trust me no one is getting dressed to go to the grocery store. yeah they aren't in pajamas (but who does that possibly outside the US?) but they aren't wearing anything "fashionable". Same with Paris. My first time there I was nervous that I was going to look like an uncultured slob in my regular non fashiony clothes, but nope. everyone was dressed very normally
i will say being used to the US, anything is more chic, but maybe it's where i stay in milan is just a bit more chic than the city center? but i will say, the sciura, aka the chic older ladies of milan are without a doubt iconic!!
@@hautelemode could be. But I've been to paris now multiple times and didn't find anything extraordinary. I will say though that I already live in eu (think watches and chocolates) so maybe I am not seeing what American commenters see 💁♀️
I live close to Milan and couldn't agree more. They don't dress up even for nights out, dinners... They just abide to old fashion rules like " How dare you were open shoes in October"
as impressive as it is to make leather look like denim I don't really understand the appeal of wearing them- like I'd take wearing a comfy fabric over leather any day of the week if it's going to look the same either way
20:01 Milan was The fashion city back in the 15/16th century as well.. Caterina Sfoza and the rest of her family were known for their sense of style also. I just reread The Tigress of Forli .. great read
For me most of them look like fashion victims, not fashion icons. Nothing interesting, no personal style, just wearing what stylists/brands got for them. Exceptions, at least in my opinion, were: first Asap Rocky's look: cool, unexpected, stylish. The second one came straight from an ugly Y2K power couples nightmare. And suddenly he looked like he was holding Rihanna's bag. She looked meh as well. Second exception: all kpop stars (I have no idea who they are), Jin killed it. That's how you dress and wear clothes instead of being a hanger for expensive pieces.
ASAP ROCKY looked really down and tired in his pap picture going in to BV show, and there couple picture going to the after party Rhianna looks so sad in this photo, like really sad I think all this potential court case and prison time for rocky is really starting to wear on them bless them, because I really like these two together they’re both like two beautiful birds of paradise so well dressed groomed and looking so loved up in a pair, seeing them like this makes me really sad
1:45… $13,000? For a suede jacket??? Someone put their back into the making of that jacket, alright. The cows … from which their skin was used for a bloody $13,000 coat not even used for warmth and probably only worn ONCE. Gross. On every level.( I’m still a Luke stan.✅) 🌈🪬
Right?! My ears perked up when I heard him mention I.N. (I have this playing in the background while I do chores peaking over as he mentions a new person). I know he goes in alphabetical order, so I initially thought I missed him 😅 But it was, in fact, Luke that missed him lol
Let's talk about black shoes. I love black shoes. And I will wear them with pretty much any outfit (I don't have any brown, though). To me, brown shoes look blah. So, maybe all the men are also black shoe aficionados? Or they hate buying new shoes as much as my husband does...
There is 0% chance I would’ve recognized Madonna. She looks great in general. I just don’t kno how to feel about it cuz she doesn’t even remotely look like herself.
Gosh I’m on one with the comments today, Nicola Coughlin ( said Cole-o-Han just for your ref it’s a wild Irish spelling) love the shoes so much, but whoever is styling her does her dirty allllllllll the time too many oversized or undersized outfits, they are not getting it right at all and making the poor girl look so frumpy all the time, and Nicola doesn’t deserve that she’s just a wonderful person, so so down to earth and nice, also Simone Ashley are all the brigerton cast sharing the same awful stylist??? Wild, do a better job styling team 😮.
I love Rihanna and she deserves all of the success she’s worked hard for. But…. She has not looked good in A VERY LONG TIME. From her hair to makeup to the horrendous outfits. She has looked a mess for many years now.
Would love to see you do more reviews of Kpop outfits, it’s so westernized, which is a shame- feels very commercial. Would also like to hear your opinions on what each design house really shines at. Like which brand is the best at bags, dresses, men’s wear, outerwear, etc.

Can we please shame the celebs who are using actual fur? It's depressing that they haven't gotten the memo how gross it is
Well no because it’s not so simple.
I understand you don’t like it but sometimes it’s the ethical decision.
.
mark ronson is looking like shaggy from scooby doo lol
We need GD to reappear in the mainstream cuz he needs to save the kpop industry's fashion game.
We love enhypen ❤
Lol "it's okaaAAAAy" 👀
Gdragon , CL are going to be always the OG number 1 fashionistas of kpop .
6:48 fyi Daisy wore a Daisy crochet set
why do fashion people spread these lies?? i went to milan for vacation and was expecting people to be DRESSED and they were all dressed like normal.
They just abide to old fashion rules like " How dare you were open shoes in October"
as a kpop fan, at least we get good outfits for performances and at the airport. very rarely do they wear something interesting to an event
Kendal is dressed like her mom helped, and said something like "No, you're going to Milan, not Disneyland, you're wearing this.".
Milan Fashion Week this year was actually pretty good!
Mark Ronson looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo lol
as impressive as it is to make leather look like denim I don't really understand the appeal of wearing them- like I'd take wearing a comfy fabric over leather any day of the week if it's going to look the same either way
JESSICA CLASS NICOLE LOOKS LIKE A NURSE
Nicola Coughlin looks cut but her outfit reminds me of how nurses dressed in the 50s and 60s. Showing my age here!
Tinashe was definitely selling the garment 🎉
Kendall always looks boring. There - I said it! 😂
I've been waiting for this lmao
20:01 Milan was The fashion city back in the 15/16th century as well.. Caterina Sfoza and the rest of her family were known for their sense of style also.
I just reread The Tigress of Forli .. great read
johnny from nct127 for acne studios was my big winner
Thank you again Luke.
So, what was going on with the shorts under Dakota Johnson’s dress? The waistband looked wonky.
Nicola Coughlan - is pronounced cocklan. The GH in Irish makes a K sound. We don’t have a CK in the Irish language 😊
He also spelt both her first and last name wrong, too... he might be fucking with us at this point.
Daisies are back.
I’m sorry - but we cannot just ignore the fabric diaper underneath 7:03 her stylist did her dirty with that
For me most of them look like fashion victims, not fashion icons.
So much Gucci blaaaah
Agreed gucci is tacky
Love the vid but have you seen the pictures of Zhao Lusi where she went to the varsace show with her two dogs👀
I love ur attitude
Gulf Kanawut was amazing
I think Julia garner is my winner from all the looks…. So far let’s see yeah Julia is my fav❤❤❤❤
Nicole was giving RED HOOD. The length of the cape and dress were definitely too similar
ur finally posting again
Even though it's a sportswear brand, Iwould like to see Luke review POPflex's designs and creations
1:45… $13,000? For a suede jacket??? Someone put their back into the making of that jacket, alright. The cows … from which their skin was used for a bloody $13,000 coat not even used for warmth and probably only worn ONCE. Gross. On every level.( I’m still a Luke stan.✅)
🌈🪬
Who are all these people?? I recognized like 4.
not you forgetting donatella's son hyunjin
Right?! My ears perked up when I heard him mention I.N. (I have this playing in the background while I do chores peaking over as he mentions a new person). I know he goes in alphabetical order, so I initially thought I missed him 😅 But it was, in fact, Luke that missed him lol
@@AxelMacopelli it's hard to miss hyunjin when versace and donatella show him off a lot so idk what happened 😭
Exactly, even though he's my bias, I did love his look from a fashion perspective as well. It represents the Versace brand well imo
Off topic, but can you PLEEEEEZ review the republican fashion show in Long Island?
PLEASE!!!!!!
Let's talk about black shoes. I love black shoes. And I will wear them with pretty much any outfit (I don't have any brown, though). To me, brown shoes look blah. So, maybe all the men are also black shoe aficionados? Or they hate buying new shoes as much as my husband does...
the karina at prada erasure 😭😭 jk i get it her dress was kinda boring too
Is it just me or does everyone also wearing the SAME shoes?
Madonna looks like a pantomime dame, if you don’t get the reference google and giggle your welcome 🤭
Clicked on this video for Jin lol
There is 0% chance I would’ve recognized Madonna. She looks great in general. I just don’t kno how to feel about it cuz she doesn’t even remotely look like herself.
you should totally check out Yeji from ITZY, she DEVOURED her D&G look though we know we don’t support D&G in this household 😭
That guide to pronunciation was a trip... it's Coughlan, pronounced Cock-lan.
It's a fairly standard Irish pronunciation... nothing wild about it.
This is business. Asian is the biggest costumers for brand. That isn't matter they are chic or not.
I love Rihanna and she deserves all of the success she’s worked hard for. But…. She has not looked good in A VERY LONG TIME. From her hair to makeup to the horrendous outfits. She has looked a mess for many years now.
You're CRAZY.
Would love to see you do more reviews of Kpop outfits, it’s so westernized, which is a shame- feels very commercial.
Would also like to hear your opinions on what each design house really shines at. Like which brand is the best at bags, dresses, men’s wear, outerwear, etc.
where is ateeeez
detached celebs
My god that dress Kendall Jenner was wearing was ugly. I mean, seriously. That Max Mara dress was also so bad. Sooooo bad. Yikes.
That shirt you have on says I know nothing about fashion and I like looking like a 1950s middle aged man with a bowl hair cut. 😱
Why do we like a purse for a guy? I don’t understand.
That dress Kendall Jenner was wearing I think the dress really ages her. It's way to mature for her. More fitting to someone in their early 60's. Imo
❤️Luke
Eww I loved Charlie’s skirt until I saw the back!!!! I would have much preferred it if it was the same front and back.
Thy were also screaming for Gucci Brand Ambassador Gulf Kanawut Thai star!
I have to disagree about Milanese as a person who lives close to Milan. Most people don't dress up even when they should dress up.
