    The main secret is to have shit load of luck during fight. The moment it was in the rocks it was only a matter of luck. All experience one has, can double the chance to get it out but its still very low chance compared to a factor of luck. Having said that, excellent video man, that was really intense !

    • @maxdocken
      @maxdocken  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks bro happy to hear that you like the video. Regarding the fight I have to disagree - of course luck plays always a role but I have proven it multiple times that it works. 🤫 Fighting a fish technically is with this equipment the only choice! Try it 😉
      Greetings and tight lines!

    • @hldemi_fishing
      @hldemi_fishing 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@maxdocken Surely if you cannot stop the fish that goes to the rocks the only way is to open the spool or lighten the drag, like you did. But this only makes it much harder for fish to cut the line. The fish can still tangle your line around rocks if the bottom is very rough. Not to mention that this would result in a loss of other species like groupers. So yeah if you get big dentex on spinning gear , this approach is best. Still it is far from guaranteed catch... Thats why I love sonio, allows you to spin and still you are able to get out such fish the way it should be done.
      Tight lines !

      @@hldemi_fishing nothing is sure when fishing and it's about the skill of the angler to decide what to do in this specific situation. My intention here is to show another opportunity instead of pressing the fish. Equipment like Sonio is a much more powerful tool but in the same situation (shallow waters) and the first seconds it's still difficult to control a Dentex and with the amount of pressure also the possibility rises to get cut. I had this situation with a 50lbs leader and an much stronger rod that Sonio and still the Dentex managed to cut me in this first 30 seconds. But anyway good to discuss here - wish you tight lines and some strong fights! Tight lines Max

    One tackle question if you don't mind.
    How do you find the balance of the PA90 with a 4000SW reel? I'm planning a similar combo for next year and the reel selection is a pain.
    Most people that I know with that rod are using the standard 4000(non-SW) from Shimano which weigh in the 250-280g range.

    What a fish. And so satisfying to watch the whole fight. 💪🎣
    We are on vacation in Greece (Chalkidiki) in about 3 weeks and I already bought and organized some fishing equipment. ;)
    Last time there I just caught tiny fish and a little octopus on fish pieces and bread, which was already exciting. Now we have a small kitchen in our hotel rooms and I would like to "upgrade" to some pan size fish. 😆
    If it's OK, I would like to ask you for some advice regarding tackle and techniques. :)
    1. What fishing line do you recommend? And do you use some meters of Fluo as leader because of rocks and fish teeth?
    2. Is it recommended to use small wobblers or even pilkers as bait? I guess, the bait guidance is more quick and "twitchy"?
    3. Do you have experience with static/ground fishing with shrimps, crabs, fish scraps? I own a pretty long travel rod and would like to give that type of fishing a try.
    Thanks in advance. I am really thankful for any help you could give. 🙏
    Tight lines and greetings to Greece! 👋

      Wow, thanks for your comment.
      The region you are travelling is super beautiful and nice.
      First of all I don't have any experience with bait fishing so. I can't tell you any advice.
      Regarding lure fishing you want to go spinning with hardbait and silicones or you want to go shore jigging?
      Greetings Max

    • @el_pschulzo
      @el_pschulzo 4 месяца назад

      @@maxdocken Guess I would like to fish with hardbaits. Slim wobblers and the heavier, sinking fullmetal baits.
      What is best for shore fishing? Sinking bait with more weight (and of course longer casting distance) and starting deep?
      Or floating wobblers and leading it with close to the surface?
      What length, weight and hook types do you recommend?

    • @maxdocken
      @maxdocken  4 месяца назад +1

      @@el_pschulzo it depends all on the species you target. I suggest you to fish softbaits and jigs for Groupers, Dentex, Amberjack, Barracuda, Tunnies. Softbaits like Fiiish Black Minnow mainly for the first two species, jigs mainly for the others. Fishing from the bottom up to the upper 1/3 gives you orientation.
      Hardbait fishing in the upper water column is also good, for Tunnies and Mahi Mahi. Working sinking hardbaits needs more practice and spot knowledge so I would recommend it for a beginner.
      It depending on the gear you are planning to use it's recommended to choose the braid and leader, hooks and lures.
      For classic Shore Jigging you need a rod like Sonio 100M or Accura 100H (or similar) with a 6000 - 8000 class reel and PE 2,5 - 3. Leaders are 40 - 50 lbs.
      Regarding hardbait fishing it's recommended to fish a spinning rod ~ 9 ft with a cw of 50-60g. 4000 size reel with PE 1,5 and lures like Duo Tide Minnow 175, casting jigs like Duo Drag Metal Cast and small jigs 30 - 40g like Owner Nagewaza Jigs. Fiiish BM Nr. 3.
      With this setup you can hunt smaller AJ, Barracuda, Dentex, Tunnies and Mahi Mahi. Check out this video ruclips.net/video/OfhwOHegV8I/видео.htmlsi=JxlXI9K1wJUY9sgE I fish the PA90 (50g) rod with 4000 reel and PE1,5.

    Muss ich neben der Ausrüstung und Köderführung auch noch andere Sachen wie Tageszeit beachten?

      Hallo Linus,
      ja natürlich. Neben den Plätzen haben Dentex im Mittelmeer natürlich ihre bevorzugten Jagdzeiten. Hier ist das gerne Tagsüber.

      Sí, exactamente. No es sólo el efecto de que no tira más, también el hecho de que después de uno dos minutos se queda sin energía.
