  • Planning to make use of some car audio I pulled out of a 1998 CRV for a shop system. powered by two HP DPS 1200 FB A1 power supplies on separate circuits. Unfortunately the base doesn't come thru on the Samsung phone. It does hit hard to the point of feeling it.
    JVC KD G820 head unit. JVC CH-X1500 CD changer. Four Pioneer 6x9 5-way 100 watt rms speakers. MTX Thunder 4500 10" sub, 225 watt rms.

    Thanks for the video. Somewhere I read that you have to be very careful when drilling through the PCB because there are internal traces running in a middle layer between the large gold-plates pads. Did you take any particular precautions to prevent the drill from cutting through those? Obviously your unit worked afterward.

    Dude, that Rockford 800x4 is a bloody nice amp if you can keep it cool, and the Alpine M65 is one of my most favorite amps I've ever owned, its absolutely tiny and never gets hot and it has *tons* of balls. I *really* dig those copper terminals you have used for the output on the PSUs, I really want to find some! Nice setup!

    At 110 VAC the max output of these power supplies is 75 amps. If planning a system, add the amperage of the fuses in your amplifiers and multiply by 10. If you're at or below about 600 you should be good with one of these power supplies.

    Excellent video. Keep it up. By the way is there a link where i can get those copper lugs? and what kind of drill bit you use to drill through the pad (I'm afraid of cracking it). thanks

    • @davidburns4176
      @davidburns4176  2 года назад

      The lugs are from Home Depot. I bought the 8 gauge version. I used a standard Dewalt bit with a point on the tip to keep it from wandering. Size was to match the thread diameter of the machine screw. Washer and nut to fit the machine screw.

    Hey if you could let me know how to correctly drill a hole through the positive and negative that would be great thanks

    • @davidburns4176
      @davidburns4176  3 года назад +1

      Use a bit that is the same or slightly larger diameter than the screw you intend to use. I used a hand drill and a bit with the point on the tip that keeps the bit from wandering. Use machine screws with a head larger than the hole in the lug. You'll want a nut and washer on the ottom side.

      I can confirm, I have the 1400w platinum rated version and I modified it to output 14v and I draw 100A off it (its rated 12v 120A) and the fan is always almost silent which is amazing because its tiny maybe 40mm and you would think it would scream it's head off but it doesn't.

      On that model solder a jumper wire or a switch if you prefer between the second small pin from the left to the pin beneath it on the bottom of the rail.

    Thank you very much for your video. Pls help me: How to eliminate "Turn On & Turn Off" Pop sound in your car amp.? Thanks

    • @davidburns4176
      @davidburns4176  3 года назад

      You may have your amp gains set too high. Make sure you are running a wire from the power antenna/remote turn on from your head unit (usually blue or blue and white) to the remote terminal on the amp.
