    Thanks for stopping by. I finally covered up my old popcorn ceilings with a beadboard coffered ceiling. I absolutely love how they turned out! This is something I’ve been dreaming of doing for many many years and now its a dream come true! My next step will be painting the walls and then I can finally get back to decorating! I am so ready to decorate for spring.
    Thanks for watching! Have a blessed day
    Love Lisa

    After having these for a few months now I would recommend to glue these directly to your existing ceiling if possible and if not then cut the length down. I used the full 8 ft lengths in my dining room and kitchen and when it got really hot outside it started to buckle a little bit. I don’t have that problem in the living room but those pieces were cut down to 5’7”. Also make sure to leave a small gap between the boards for expansion where possible.

    Thank you so much for this video. We have popcorn ceilings that are old, gross, and peeling. We cannot scrap due to suspected asbestos. We have been looking for ways to cover. Our living and dining room is about the same shape and size. We won’t need to pre install 1 x 4 since we can go right through the ceiling to the studs. Not sure if we want to make “trays” over the breadboard or just fill the gaps. But it turn turn out very nice! Might have add that.

    • @CrepeMyrtleRow
      @CrepeMyrtleRow  2 года назад

      Thank you! I’m really enjoying mine. I think it’s better to go straight to the ceiling and I would also reinforce with liquid nails. I have a couple of places in mine that with the heat of summer have gotten a little bit of a wave in them but it’s because of just being able to attach them at those slats. If I could have put it flat against the ceiling there wouldn’t be a problem. Also it helps to leave a slight gap between boards for expansion so that’s also why I finished off the seems with the 1x4’s. Good luck!

    The ceiling looks really nice. Could you share please what kind of fasteners were used to hold up the beadboard? It's one thing to have beadboard on the walls, but to have them on the ceiling requires something more to hold them up. I am about to put beadboard on the ceiing in one of my cabin buildings and would so appreciate knowing what to use.

      My brother was my contractor and he just used nails in a nail gun. I would suggest using some construction adhesive as well if you’re able to attach the boards flat to the ceiling and you know that you won’t be wanting to remove them in the future. As you could see in the video, I was not able to put mine flat against the existing ceiling because of the type of heat that I previously had. I had to put the slats and then nail the boards to those slats. That created a small space around a half inch to an inch there. during the summer when we had close to 100° weather, areas in my dining room and kitchen that were closer to the outside walls, got a lot hotter the attic because those areas started having some warping to the boards ( I’m assuming because that area is where the roof slopes down and there was less insulation between the ceiling and the roof) I believe if I had been able to use the construction adhesive and then be flat against the ceiling, and use the nails as well, It would not have warped. It’s not terrible but I notice it. Most people probably wouldn’t if I didn’t point it out.

      @@CrepeMyrtleRow Thank you for that comprehensive answer. I'll be sure to use Liquid Nails adhesive.

    • @CrepeMyrtleRow
      @CrepeMyrtleRow  2 дня назад

      @@deirdre444I forgot to mention, make sure to leave a small gap between the boards to allow for expansion and contraction. Probably 1/4-1/2inch should be sufficient. I think that also is what is contributing to mine warping. They didn’t leave enough space between them

    Wow! What a change!! I bet you are loving them. What do you think of your kitchen ceiling fan? Does it move as much air as the traditional fan? I’ve been thinking about getting one. -Valerie

    • @CrepeMyrtleRow
      @CrepeMyrtleRow  2 года назад

      Thank you! I’ve only had it up one day but I’m liking it so far. You feel the air flow right under it but not so much out to the sides. It’s got a remote with different speeds and even a timer option for those who like to fall asleep with a fan but want it to turn off after 2-4 hours. The light is very bright which I like. There are some that have different color options for the light such as warm white or bright white etc. I do like it better than the small traditional ceiling fan I used to have. There are different fan speeds and one option that has a different part rotating and that seems to circulate the air further out.

      @@wixomfam you are welcome. I used the fan today while painting and it actually works really well. The only complaint I have about this one is it has three different light settings. They are cool white, warm white and neutral. There doesn’t seem to be a way of setting the one I want and it staying that way every time I turn the light on. Right now every time the light is turned of and on it toggles through each color. I just keep flipping the switch until I get the one I want or there is a button on the remote to turn it off and on as well. I’m going to take it back down to see if there is a switch in the housing that I can set it to one color and it stay. The can lights I used have 4 different settings on them so hopefully this fan will have that same feature.
