This is the best video I’ve found on the topic so far and I’m glad it’s coming from Africa since I’m Congolese. I study urban planning in Canada but just added a GIS minor to my degree so wanted to know more about what the options and opportunities are.
This is amazing, im interested in GIS but i was told that it'll be a problem for me to get into this field because i dont have any background in maths and science, so do i really need maths and science to get in GIS
Hi Kamohelo. Not necessarily no, you need Maths and science if you'll enroll into a BSc field. So luckily GiS is available in BA courses under Geography. Whereby you don't need Maths and science as a prerequisite.
Yes very much so, reason being because of its wide speciality and various fields where it's applicable. It's such a valuable skill to have in this day and time.
In High school you probably didn't use the GIS application softwares and applied it to solve problems. You just have a the basic understanding of what it does. So you need a tertiary qualification to have the application knowledge of it. Then you can specialize and become a GIS analyst. I hope that makes sense
Yes, GE Smallworld is considered a GIS (Geographic Information System) software. It's specifically designed for utilities and telecommunications industries to manage network data and infrastructure. Smallworld provides advanced spatial data management, analysis, and visualization capabilities, making it a valuable tool for handling complex geospatial data. If you have any more questions or need further information, feel free to ask!

At least in the US, companies will offer - for someone already with a degree - less than what a waiter makes waiting on tables. Come one - give yourself some value and don't accept these jobs.
I love your content, please don’t stop sharing this wonderful content.
