With my 10 years of experience in the construction industry, salary of an environmental officer or ECO is way more than an EIA consultant, R10k mentioned here is an entry salary..our field is currently in demand and you can expect more R25k woth 3 years of experience at mid senior level, you can expect R30k to 45k and senior level R50k to R70k particularly in the renewable and mining space..
Thank you for sharing wonderful information, i also doing Environmental management at University of South Africa, so your sharing information is means a lot to us 🙏🙏
Hello Itumeleng I am an Environmental Health student at University of Johannesburg and I am looking forward to be in a field of mining industry and I have a question did you do community service after your qualification? Thank you for sharing such a valuable information.
Hello Itu. Thank you so much for the insight. I hope this reaches you. I see the video is a year old. Please assist I'm going to an interview soon and I'm preparing. Please give an insight on how would you as an environmentalist assist a local Municipality with building a new landfill sight?
Hi Itumeleng, I am an Indian female with a Bachelors in Engineering and two years of work experience at an MNC and am currently undergoing an Internship in Wildlife conservation field, and have prior volunteering experiences in Environmental conservation. I am planning to pursue a Master's in 2021. But I am confused as to which country and which University would suit me best. I would love to hear your suggestions regarding this.
Hello 😊 My sincere apologies for the late response, I do hope I'm not too late to help. Firstly, I suggest that you do some research on the topic you'd like to pursue for your Masters. I say that because your research will guide which institutions you should consider. For instance, I've found that UCT has vast options compared to UJ. It also depends on lecturers and their speciality. If I were in your shoes and had the option to do my Master's again, I'd definitely go for UCT. All the best
Am a final year environmental student, you mentioned that you can work in places such a banks too, so when you apply you wait for that kind of vacancy? By the way measuring in Biogeography Gis and remote sensing Population and demography Climatology Environmental Impact Assessment With this which field can I specialize in?
hi Itumeleng. I also have Bsc life and environmental sciences qualication. So i have an interview at some refineries. What questions should I expect?? Please help Please 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I have a degree in Environmental Science and currently doing Entomology (the study of insect ecology) as a postgrad. How can I apply entomology into environmental consultancy?
Hey Itu, thank you for the info. Can i please ask if is it possible for me to do honors in Environmental Management, I did Bsc Microbiology and Physiology
Hmm it's hard to say, really. The answer depends on which field you'd like to be in - botany if you'd like to work outdoors like in nature reserves, or chemistry if lab work is your kind of thing. Both are good, it's just a matter of preference.
hi i want to study BA in Environmental Management. I just wanted to know if you perhaps know what the difference is between the BSC and BA in this field and how the jobs are gonna differ. What a great video truly. Thank you.
Hi Itu. I studied environmental management BSS and graduated in 2017, how do i make myself eligible for work experience ? Cause Hons. as much any form of further studying would be, its not feasible due to my final year having outstanding fees. (So i only have my academic record)
Hi Thando. I know how hard it is to find employment during these hard times. Short courses have helped many people secure employment, although I know it may not be feasible when finances are a problem. Just check for free courses as well. I would say networking is the next best thing. Attend lots of trainings and conferences that will link you up with people already in the field. All the best.
Hello Mvelo 😊 I'm not clued up on what quantity surveyors do, but on the little that I know I can say that they are more on the construction side of things whilst I am on the environmental. I do believe that they work together in some industries.
No, these are not the same thing. Safety Management is usually centered around the system ISO4500. Environmental Management is broad and includes various fields of study including the system ISO14001. So, no, they are not the same thing.
