Cool place. My ears really perked up at the word Delaware. I live right over the Delaware state line in Pennsylvania. Delaware native people traveled far!
The "Delaware" were actually the Lenni Lenape. The 3 brances of the Lenape lived from New Jersey to the PA/Delaware border to the Susquehanna River and Columbia county PA.
I thin the Natives "brain tanned hides. Old timers told me that every animal has enough brain matter to tan its own hide. They processed the brains some way and rubbed it into the hide...then smoked it. Then they kept working it while it dried to keep it soft. It was quite a process. Thanks for taking us along, Love. It's pretty cool to see the efforts made toward keeping this native village preserved.
Yes, you will have to, Dave! it’s a pretty cool spot. The conservation area has a fantastic Christmas drive-through light display right now, too! I heard about it in the past but never went. Am glad I did this year. Truly magical and unique. I made a shorts video on it recently. :)
Wow that was pretty interesting! Those cabins looked pretty solid but the fencing didn’t look to safe to protect them from other tribes. I can’t imagine living like that but in their time that’s all they knew ! Nice video ! Thank you ! ❤️
Fascinating stuff. It would have been nice to live closer to nature like that. But one thing this shows, is that there was no large single nation on this land. There were scattered tribes who fought against each other. I do like how they built and lived off the land though.

Pam, this is awesome! Growing up, we had a similar but much less comprehensive display at the Erie County Fair. It's great to see more. :)

This is so much like the village at Crawford Lake, near Milton, ON. I spent many happy hours there with my grandchildren when they were small!

I always enjoy what you bring us. Very interesting. Fencing is very tall but looks easy to break through.
Your comment means a lot. Yes, the fencing could be better built for sure.

Great video! More please?!?
So nice of you. More to come! :)
The small structure you were unsure of was likely for religious purposes, maybe a sweat lodge.
Sounds plausible.
