Thanks again for the informative video Brian. I have learned such allot from you and the videos. People willing to share knowledge like you are far apart. Thanks again
When I was a young apprentice back in the olden days it was often my job to stand at the vice with a strip of emery paper and sand and sand and sand… until the gears would smoothly slide. Could spend a whole afternoon with just one gear. These were factory parts back then.
good morning, question, i have a t90 on my swamp buggy and want a lower gearing for it i only use 2nd gear 99 percent of the time because i use it as my second tranny tied to an automatic. is there a lower gear kit for the t90 that i can rebuild and install. please advise thank you so much., love the videos...
I had a feeling you were going to use valve grinding compound to clearance that gear. I have a 1953 M38A1 that I need to rebuild the transmission on, it keeps popping out of 3rd gear. Thank you for all of your informative videos.
Question, will that process work to correct wear on the input shaft pilot bearing end. I have 2 trans. And both have a small taper....shouldn't the top be straight. Is this a necessary repair?
yes, that was your transmission that I was working on. Everything in the donor transmission was bad so I had to make sure first gear was sliding perfectly on the mainshaft so your shifts would be easy. Transfer case rebuild coming next. Brian
Great video. I rebuilt my T90 using your video, but it would have been nice to have seen this first (no pun intended). Where do you usually get your transmission parts from? My second synchro grinds a little when I downshift.
what type of lube are you running in there.? I have the correct lubricant for these early transmissions and it will help with the grinding you are experiencing.
@@jimfehr9273 here is my video explaining the lubricants I have developed. I do have the correct viscosity that should be in your transmission. The GL-1 is good but a bit too light and won't slow the gears down as it is supposed to. Watch the video till the end and you will see my email address if you want to contact me for a lube list. Great information!
Thanks for watching, I am trying to put out information that can't be found in books or manuals, to help people along on their projects.
Good job. 👏👏👏🇧🇷

They should not be tapered. Depending on the condition they might need to be replaced.
I've done this changing 1st gear ratio's with used parts back in 87 on a T-10. They usually hang on the end like that.
The tolerances of the new stuff is often off just enough to cause trouble. A little hand fitting will solve the problem every time.
Awesome
thanks for watching
How can I get in contact to buy some knuckle lube for a cj2a?
Was that my main shaft that you were working on ? If so thanks for the good work.

@@metalshaperJeep 90W GL-1 Gear Oil. It was very hard to find. Is yours different?
