  • @frank7533

    Good video but a CORRECTION: Canberra is the closest city with an international airport to a resort. 2 hours to Perisher & Thredbo. The airport now receives multiple international flights.

    • @ytzpilot
      @ytzpilot Год назад +1

      NOT TRUE AT ALL, Canberra used to accomodate a Singapore Airlines 777 Flight from Singapore to Canberra to Wellington NZ called The Capital Connection, that flight was canceled during the pandemic, currently no international flights service Canberra except for one from Fiji, which wouldn’t have any skiers. If you are flying in from North America there has never been a flight from LA or Houston or Vancouver or any North American city that came to Canberra and likely never will. This video is correct

    • @frank7533
      @frank7533 Год назад +2

      If you were flying from North America for the sole purpose of skiing at Perisher/Thredbo it is far easier to go LAX-Fiji-Canberra.

    • @ytzpilot
      @ytzpilot Год назад

      @@frank7533 nope, my niece did that, they lost her gear, you cannot trust Fiji Airlines with your gear that’s the worst idea. I’ve flown between Canada and Australia/New Zealand since the 80s as I’m a dual citizenship. The best is to fly out of any major North American airport into Sydney or Melbourne and connect onto a local flight to Canberra for many reasons. If you miss your connection in Fiji they don’t have as many flights, therefore you can be stuck for 2 or 3 days in Fiji, also notorious for not getting heavy gear through because of weight issues on their smaller fleet, and most importantly you can trust Qantas or Air Canada or United because larger planes, more routes, more options during cancellations, better chances of getting both you and your gear through and can offer many better alternatives when problems arise.
      To be honest you are just giving out real bad advice because you’ve got some weird point to prove against this video, problem is when people listen to your bad advice based on you trying to prove a point 😩

    • @ytzpilot
      @ytzpilot Год назад

      @@frank7533 OMG WHat are you smoking??? For example just look at all the flights available from Toronto to Canberra, It is also just as many stops, Toronto - LAX - Sydney - Canberra, the Fiji one is like 5% of all your options and is actually slower to get you there, and like I already said Fiji Airlines doesn't handle ski equipment very well due to smaller aircraft, overweight, so they like to unload the heavy baggage like Ski Equipment (this happened to my niece) and you get them days later, and also like I said when Fiji leaves you stranded in Los Angeles you have no other options but to wait for days for the next Fiji Flight.
      With the major airlines like Air Canada, United or QANTAS they are star alliances, therefore if you miss a connection anywhere along the way they will get you on another flight same day and sometimes with another airline because they can do that, they can do a lot more for you to get you there which is very important if you only have 7 days of skiing.
      AGAIN YOU ARE GIVING OUT BAD ADVICE TO SKIERS, FIJI AIRLINES is GREAT for Beach Goers. You seem like you don't travel enough from Australia to North America with ski equipment, you probably never have judging by your posts 🤑

    Theres more resorts than this in aus, perisher is 100% king with 50 plus lifts and a half pipe and countless parks and on the cusp of the biggest mt in aus (great for backcountry) and its the biggest resort in the southern hemisphere. Thredbo is pretty good to but its more of a rich mans/family resort. Hotham is prob the best in vic but theres other resorts in vic which are fun. Charlottes pass is good for higher country riding to and if you want it really cold go to Tasmania. There's also a learner hill in Canberra and an indoor ski park comming to Sydney. If that's not enough go to nz😂

    ironically there are really only 5 resorts in Australia !! lol. so yes this is the best Top 5. agree with your ranking tho, but i think Hotham should be above Falls. just b/c its better more challenging skiing. Tho Falls is lovely for families and ski in ski out is superb - something you didnt really mention. 100% of the resort accom is ski in/out. ski down to lifts in morning, ski home along the home trails in the afternoon. you can literally ski into your chalet door !. Thredbo more challenging and longer runs than Perisher but smaller. toss up in my mind which is the better out of those 2. good job tho.
