This was lovely... from an old Salfordian. 61 yrs old. I was 11 at the time of filming. To see young girls having responsibility with infants still amazes me. I used to do this...

Some good memories there. I lived round the corner from Buile Hill Park c1960 and remember the museum, the pitch & putt and getting chased off the swings by the Parky because I went to Salford Grammar School (the swings were out of bounds to SGS' pupils). I went to Light Oaks Primary before SGS, but never visited Light Oaks Park for some reason. Used to play on the sandhills at the top of Cholmondeley Rd and remember a pair of old houses nearby, one was called Rivington Hall or similar. We went "tracking" (now called BMX) down some steep slopes in Oakwood Park. I was in the 36th Salford Scouts, based at Holy Angels Church. I earned pocket money as a grocer's delivery boy for a shop on T'Heights.

I was still at Broughton Modern when this was made but six years later, I was working at Cinephoto, on The Crescent, the people who made this :)

Cinephoto, one of our best customers in the early 60's! I was also a pupil at Broughton Modern, and a former employee of Lawrence and Nicholas Ltd, photographic wholesalers, on the Crescent.

I wonder how many generations of infants have fed the ducks in Lightoaks Park? I had no idea of its dark history until watching this. Wonderful film. Thanks for posting.

What a pity that all this hasn’t been retained. The local authority would not even care for the old Buile Hill Park Museum! Now nothing but a dump and home for North West crime.

Remember when they brought postcodes in? We were M5!! M5? Surely we should have been S5, but I think that the 'S' was given to Sheffield. We were NOT Manchester. Never have been. Never will be. From M5 3JF of West Park St.

Magic I'm of that time. When kids played together. Our imagination would run riot as soon as we stepped outside into our world, our world of make believe. The attitude from our upbringing was, we're all in this together, in good and bad time's we have your back. Poverty does that it brings the best out in the majority and the worst out in the minority. That apart nothing that we have now can compare in terms of the people. The issue that has destroyed every community in every country on the planet has to be alcohol and drugs to name two substances. Addiction. There has been very little attempts to try for a cure/cures for addictions . All the money is going on treatment and treatment centres. This is a discrace for medical pracricers who sold their soul's, GREED. HIPPOCRATIC OATH FOR HYPOCRITES 🤑🤫.
