I was born in Salford in 1929, Aldred Street, the Crescent, and then down Cross Lane to Clarendon Road. I remember Salford Hippodrome, jersey full of holes, tripe shops, pubs on every corner. Seems centuries ago but I'm still proud of my origins.
How wonderful to see the children doing handstands. Change from the overweight couch potatoes we have today. Whit walks. What has happened to Lancashire.
I’ve lived and I still work in central Salford having worked in the posher areas ie hale ,wilmslow etc Salford people always offer a brew and would give the shirt off there back don’t listen to the papers Salford is the place to be

Hello, I am currently working on a project for my college, it's about the riots and we have been asked to show some images or clips of what salford use to be like. would it be okay if I use your footage?
What are you a Nazi? You might like your corner slums of council estates but many English people are good people who have progressed, the sooner you lot fk off the better. Go to Benidorm and complain about immigrants whilst the Spanish mock you.
That not what your really getting at ANdrew is it, pray tell what you are truly thinking when you watch this episode???. Grow some balls and spit it out sweetie.
@pmills78 Oh Salford Lads Club, when i come back up to Manchester i always make a point of driving up round past SLC. I get out of the car touch the gate and walls then i'm off again. Morrissey in mind of course!
I remember back then, Salford was a shit hole in the 60s to 80s, a lot of crime and louts on every corner waiting to cause trouble, don't live with here any more, I've been told it's a lot better now, with newer buildings, shit holes torn down, even a prison down off agecroft road, I used to go fishing down drink water park, and the river irwell from Phillips park, some big carp back then.
My grandfather married his first wife at St. Clements, she died in childbirth then he married her sister, my grandmother. Not sure why but they went to St. Peters in Blackley to marry.
I'm 77yrs old and I still get really annoyed because all the time people on Television talk about "Manchester racecourse , Manchester docks and may other places which are actually in Salford. Don't they know that Salford was a City long before Manchester.

The reason kids don't don't do handstands now is called HEALTH and SAFETY, I even saw an article which said "it is llegall for little girls to this because they might show their knickers." I couldn't believe it but recently I saw a little boy on a scooter wearing a crash helmet. Don't blame kids because they're not allowed to have the fun which we had.

wonder how many kids these days could do hand stands against a wall now some of them would probably knock the wall over
