Dude we fucking love you!!! I just spent $1,400 to replace my compressor and my blower motor but didn't want to pay for a diagnostic, they told me it still wasn't working and they would need to do a 5 hour diagnostic next Tuesday. I was super bummed out, started youtubing it, watched your video, and guess what? I had a burnt out fuse!!!!!! You just saved me $800
It's soo sad how many shops out there 1.do not practice common sense, 2. charge 150hr plus while they pay their low skilled technicians penny on the dollars worth. This is common with big brand dealers especially. If you find a talented solo owner operator mechanic shop or backyard who knows his stuff they are a God sent!
Thank you! With your video in mind, I started this process at about 2:00. After pulling the motor and confirming the fan was was not very free spinning, I got on-line to find a replacement motor near me, ordered it, went and picked it up, installed it (had to use a little force to get it to turn clockwise - the ports were very close tolerance), and confirmed it worked! I was completely finished with tools put away at 3:50. Luck was on my side with the motor being available fairly close by. As a result of your struggles, you were able to guide me to an efficient and incredibly fast fix. Thank you so much for documenting it so well!
Wanted to seriously thank you for how much time, money, and headache you saved me. I watched this video twice while I was waiting on my part, then I got in there and made it happen in less than 30 minutes and my AC is fixed. Thanks brotha!
Thank you! This was very informative and entertaining to watch. My blower motor got stuck and it started to work again when I gave it couple knocks, I was going to take it out but no need anymore. Maybe it needs new replacement blower soon but until then all good again :)
Thank you for an excellent tutorial regarding the fan replacement … just a note on the how and why … Mercedes told me that, often, the blower fan will damage the power module, when it fails. When you install a new fan unit, a damaged resister may shorten the life of the new fan unit. They recommend installing a new resister along with the new fan. Obviously, this isn’t always the case, but considering the lesser cost of the resister unit, it might be worth ”penny wise” to replace both units at the same time… any feedback is appreciated, and keep up the great videos! On a personal note; I LOVE my Sprinter, and it runs beautifully, except when it doesn’t and when it doesn’t, man alive!, it costs me a small fortune to keep it running BEAUTIFULLY!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it! I replaced that blower motor a year ago and never replaced the resistor and it has been doing great! I don’t believe you need to replace the resistor! Honestly, I love driving my sprinter and it’s my daily driver! 🤙🏼
Thank you so much! Well it may be your resistor (talked about In this video) Your thermostat Or your blend door actuator. Before you do anything! Check for a blown fuse! 🤙🏼
Mahtavaa. Kerroit kaiken selkeästi . Juuri ne tiedot joita kipeästi tarvitsin. No ajelen pari päivää täällä pohjolassa ilman tuuletin moottorin toimintaa. Ei ongelmia kun minulla on 4000W invertteri Sprintterissäni. Voin käyttää 220 v tukankuivaajaa ja lisälämmitintä 220v. Ratsiassa voin lämmittää tukan kuivaajalla myös mahdollisen poliisin jäätyneet sormet kun tulee alkoholi mittaus. KIITOS !!!!!
This was a great video. I checked the fuse and checked that the blower fins were moving, by going through the air filter. I have no power and nothing lights up on the dashboard. Is there another fuse to make the fan buttons work?
Great video. I have an old mercedes mb100 campervan. I brought it this year and the blower doesn't work. I checked the fuse, it was blown, so i replaced it and it blew again. Any ideas. I tried a bigger fuse but still not blowing. 🤔 I like to try and fix it myself 😁
I would suggest going to an auto parts store and seeing if you can find it through them! If you are in the US I would suggest Napa they carry German parts. 🙂
Hey Chris, unfortunately I don’t know where it is exactly. Best guess is under the dash. I’m not too familiar with the 2012 but I wouldn’t think it’s much different from the 2017. I’ll do some more research and let you know if I find anything.
Thanks for this amazing video!! Went for the easiest thing that was to check the fuse, before doing the rest, and turned out that it is burned. When I pull the fuse out, one of the "legs" stayed in the fuse box and, by Murphys law, even with really pointy pliers it won't come out. Any ideas?
10 Minutes Later ..... Just took a screwdriver as you suggested to see if the fan turns and it did, i wanted it to be stuck, but it wasn't. so in desperation again i turned the ignition on and pressed the buttons for the Fan and YEH it worked, saved a Fortune, Thanks....
Hey man love your videos! My sprinter is pushing air out but it never seems to get much colder than say 70 degrees. Do you know what could be preventing it from getting colder?
@RyanDoppelheuer first off thank you! I really appreciate the kind words! #1 find the condenser and see if it’s thrashed with dirt and debris. If not then #2 check for leaks in your system. #3 refrigerant levels may be low. #4 bonus tip, I would also check to make sure the A/C belt where the cooler fan is attached to the engine is tight and not slipping. Hope this helps or at least gives you a starting point. 🤙🏼
So i have the opposite problem but maybe the same solution... Driving on the highway yesterday the fans come on out of nowhere and simply won't turn off even with the power off and battery disconnected... temperature changes and a/c can go on and off but zero way to change the vent speed ..i think it's the regulator that needs replacing and maybe not the blower itself... If you have any suggestions or thoughts would be much appreciated as I'm not the most technically minded. Great video!
hey man, Just saw your video, great content. My Sprinter van fan works real good but I can't get it to blow hot air on my feet. I turn the knob and the air flow changes accordingly it seems, until I get to the down arrow and no air comes out of the vents down there. The plastic duct does get hot but no air from there... I know this is a different issue but just wondering if you have any ideas.Thank you!
Yeah for sure buddy! The only thing I can think of is that you have a broken Hot Air Dampener. I’ll do some more research let me know if you figure it out! 🤙🏼
@@EventheWavesYT I wonder if the whole Climate control Unit is faulty. No matter where the dial is hot air flows from the vents on the dash, but the blower does change notes a bit and works on the windshield no problem, but not under on the feet. Can't find schematics on how the whole system works, switching where the air flows, etc.
@aurisnow did you try looking at sprinter-source.com forum? I was looking at some stuff on there for you and it looks like you need to shut off the top vents and try that. Otherwise it sounds like the Blend Door Actuator. I haven’t found any schematics yet but I’m sure they are out there.
@@EventheWavesYT That's great info! Yes it seems like the door that opens to direct flow to the lower vents is not opening and the door that shuts the flow to the dashboard is not closing... I have to go out of the country for a little while and get back at it in a month or so. Thanks again for your help! Let me know if you find anything meanwhile on your end. I will keep pocking at it on them inter webs. Cheers!
I'm sure the Amazon blower motor was just fine, the blower wheel got pushed down to the blower housing during shipping. All you had to do was pull the blower wheel off of the housing since it's on a shaft and not fixed permanently in your issue would have been solved
@@EventheWavesYT I pulled my blower, tired of being hot and all mine needed was a little WD-40. It was hard to turn like yours but a little WD-40 did the trick. I didn't even want to buy a $40 Amazon blower motor.

I went with the Amazon blower motor because they had overnight shipping. Took about 20 minutes to install thanks to this video. Let's hope it lasts!
I hope it does! I may have just had a bad one! 🤷🏼♂️

DO you know where the blend door actuator is? The part that changes the air from defrost to vent to floor. 2012 sprinter
