Ilha do Cabo was an island, the new project construction of the Luanda bay includes the Ilha land reclamation, they just closed that gap between the Ilha and the main land
If you uploaded this video in the same data that recorded, we are in the cold time, we call tempo de frio or cacimbo, know that it is so much hot in the warm time.... and for most of us in Luanda, the Cold time is hitting hard
Ilha de Luanda (Luanda's Island) is indeed an island. if you are heading to Ilha de Luanda, you will realise that you drive/walk through a bridge. You will see that there is water on both sides of the road (bridge) and both bodies of water are connected. It might not look that obvious now because of all the new buildings built around the bridge, though.
Isn't the definition of an island, surrounded by water on all sides? A peninsula is surrounded by water on three sides, so that would make it a peninsula, as it is still connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land, no?
@JayFocused there's a bridge (artificial one) connecting the mainland to the island (Ilha de Luanda). If you get an air view image of Luanda you will see that there is only one point of access to the island, and that's where the bridge is. That's the reason we call that strip of land, Ilha de Luanda. Hope I made myself better understood. ✌️
ok, so the bridge is artificial and it was originally a non-connected island located right off the coast prior to man's interference? Then calling it an island makes sense.
@@JayFocused that's cool, I don't really know what your niche is but there are many awesome places to go, I hate the people that run the place but I sure love the place❤

Ilha de Luanda was an Island, but eventually the bridge got a lot of sediment along it, and eventually land began to fixate on the bridge pillars, so now you can't even tell where the bridge used to stay, as the roads got better, so did the bridge, so it seems the connection between island and the main land is imperceptible now

Many African American have Angolan ancestors- hence why the prisons are called Angola penitentiary, why AA eat “gumbo”- an Angolan word/meal, Angola Florida, etc etc
Most African Americans are predominantly west African and most Angolans were shipped to Latin America and their is a greater Angola influence there than the USA
@ yes and no. Example. A ship would leave Angola and they would tell them, they are taking them to “Mexico” or other places in Latin America, but many ended up in Virginia or South Carolina USA. Unfortunately because of this ppl in Angola had no idea that millions were taken to USA. However a century later, they did start taking many west Africans and they began blending together. Thats why they put up signs for the Mbundu tribe in Virginia and the jails in America are called Angola penitentiary. And towns called Angola Florida and why they say, enslaved ppl in USA spoke kimbundu
@ no millions were taken the USA especially from Angola which was a Portuguese colony and most of the slaves ended up in Brazil or other South American countries just look at a map there is no reason for a ship to go to the USA because the sugar plantations were the main destination and that wasn’t the USA by the time cotton became big they had the breeding programs which was the main source slave replacement.
