I've always been conscious of my inability to finish a book for less than 3 months, even if it's only a 200+ page book. I literally HAVE to get into it, so I couldn't keep up with this flex of reading 100 a year. This video was very reassuring 🥺.

This is certainly my favorite type of reading. I have always loved reading for this aspect but didn't really got the joy of its outcome until the lockdown came and suddenly I had for six months nothing to look forward to. It gave me time to submit to reading like never before, I started annotating after few months (now the pencil is as essential as my specs while reading), I started googling books after reading, finding out about the references. Since last year my reading habit took a whole new form. Thinking of rereading the books I read before the lockdown, and of course put the marks of my love on them by annotating! So glad to find you here, was following you on insta for awhile.

Aw! I am so happy we are able to connect here on RUclips! Thanks for your insight here! I agree that the pandemic was a particularly fitting time to hone in on reading habits and make the most of it/find such silver linings. Do you recall which book moved you most these past few months?

@@anielizaveta Oh so many books that I think of constantly. From last year it was Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin, The English Teacher by R. K. Narayan, The Stranger by Albert Camus, Animal Farm by George Orwell. It were the non-fic last year which really made the impact. Annihilation Of Caste by B. R. Ambedkar, Development As Freedom by Amartya Sen, The Mahatma And The Poet-Letter collection, Letters From A Young Poet by Rabindranath Tagore. This year the non-fic I read were mostly by women-Sidewalks, Intimations, Bluets, The Algebra of Infinite Justice, The Doctor and The Saint.

I too have decided lately that instead of reading too many books and flaunting the statistics I would engage with few good books deeply. Also, though I heard the term 'commonplace books' for the first time, I think I've been keeping something similar for the past few months. Great video.

Thank you for this video. As of late, I have realized that I have been reading too quickly, not allowing for deep reading. I got rid of Goodreads last year and now keep track of my reading in a journal. This has slowed me down a bit but not enough. I am a work in progress. 🤗

Thank you for watching the video, Christina! We are all works in progress ♥️ love the idea of knowing when something doesn’t work for you (in this case, Goodreads) and proactively taking measures to find things that do!
