That was my reaction as soon as I saw him on screen: "Awww, Luke..." It was fun to see Jen Garner as well; she seemed genuinely intimidated by Martha at first, though she relaxed as the segment went on.
@@osmanthusc1220 Luke Perry; he's in the 3rd segment "Potato Gratin and Collard Greens." I wish they had captioned the video or put notes in the description below, because I don't know who Mary is in the "Enchilada Casserole" segment.
Shepherds pie = lamb Cottage pie = beef Fisherman's pie = cheapest fish sometimes smoked not always Admirals pie = expensive fish frequently salmon, large prawns etc Gardeners pie = vegetables Hunters pie = rabbit, venison or other game animals Game pie = game birds Stargazy pie = herring traditionally with fish heads showing through the pie Farmhouse pie = white sauce pie with various things chicken, mushrooms, spinach, bacon, peas, sweetcorn, sauted leeks any combination you fancy Steak pie = steak often with beer, ale or stout Steak and kidney = steak and kidneys in a brown gravy often with beer, ale or stout Mince pie = minced beef and brown gravy These are the traditional names used in the uk
This is American channel. So obviously very different from the UK. Only thing I could say was about shepherds pie, that’s British. Shepherd means a sheep keeper so it’s always with lamb not beef. All other casseroles aren’t related with the UK. In North America, and other parts of most developed countries lamb isn’t common, often expensive and many people don’t eat them due to gaminess. It’s not common here either though I live in a G7 nation.
Suggestion: for the root vegetable casserole, can steam or preboil the sliced potatoes and sweet potatoes to save baking time. Can reduce cream, or instead use butter, or sour cream.
I remember when she said one time or two that she is given just so much time for each guest, or, each segment. So it may seem to some commenters that she is rude.
All of them look delicious except the one that uses cans of Campbell soups. They used to be ok, I used to get tomato, cream of mushroom etc. to use for cooking. But now they taste terrible, they use modified corn syrup instead of sugar and they all taste very funny and artificial, nothing like they used to be. So I won’t be making that one. Most of them use heavy cream, that’s like scalloped potatoes…I prefer to make my own béchamel sauce using butter and flour with full fat milk, not cream. They come out super nice every time. That’s the classic way to make gratin. I may try out the root vegetables with cream but that’s heart clogging rich 😅.
Here in the United States, they have to supersize the carb content to keep people obese. 50g or fewer carbs people! Don't go over that and if you can, keep it under 20g of carbs per day.
Oh! Martha! Don't ever make Shepherd's Pie with anything but lamb! Just ask Gordon Ramsey. It's cottage pie with beef. (A shepard never handles cattle. A shepard only handles sheep.) 💖🌞🌵😷
Lol she’s always been like that, you didn’t know? Part of her charm actually. She’s a perfectionist and that’s also the appeal to many viewers. Btw, this is an very old show and all of these episodes are quite old, several years to 10+ years old. She’s retired now. She comes on TV rarely now only occasionally like Christmas etc.
I relate to her. I have had to work on the control issues. So...I love her anyway as others have been patient with me. But this woman has taught us all so much.
I would not like to have a conversation with Martha Stewart because she is one of those people who never lets you finish a sentence without interupting you. She continuously interrupts her guests. She is worse than Conan O'Brien. I'm sure that most guests blow it off, but when Jennifer Garner was saying that Shepherd's Pie is Kevin Kline's favorite dish, she couldn't get beyond the word "so..." before Martha interrupted her saying, "Oh, so we will send a Shepherd's pie from the studio to him tonight." I'm certain that Jennifer was going to say "So I am going to make him Shepherd's Pie." Jennifer just said, "oh..." . LOL. She is too sweet to say what I would say..." Thank you Martha but I was about to say "I want to make him one... myself." I'd say it with a smile of course.
Omg martha once you start cooking with vegan meats like impossible meat, ,,tempeh,, tofu blocks cauliflower steaks,, Portobella mushroom steakss....Seiten (wheat gluten) the world will never be the same I feel it coming with u,,,its like a whole new world and when your taste buds adjust to veganism its the best thing in the world your whole world changes because any animal product was never intended to be consumed by humans because animals are sentient beings too they have friends and families I just wish everyone knew about it you feel so much happier because you know you aren't harming any set animals and u just physically feel lighter and happier! ! It's a very good thing! !! Go vegan! !
Shepard's pie is a healthy choice but yet steak and potatoes is even better!..chestnuts can be bought for a low fee but is always better fresh like acorns: martha Stewart's cookware is organically created, produced and bought if one can find her pans and kitchen ware
The silence with women is an obvious choice of a cataclysmic clash. For to be a woman who is normal often in entertainment -there always is another woman waiting but one must stay strong and work on themselves.

Martha you’re amazing. I love your sense of humor!
Love the tip on lining the foil with parchment - I am definitely going to use this, going forward!

Awwwwww!! Luke Perry!!! He is greatly missed!!!! 🙏🙏
All of these casserole and gratin recipes look so delicious 😋Martha.
Good morning!
Watching here at Philippines! ❤
I just Love you MS Martha sooo much! i've learned so much from you. Thank you and may GOD bless you
I'm so happy Martha Stewart has created her own aluminum foil/parchment paper called Martha Wrap and it crimps..Finally! Thanks girl!
That green tomato casserole looks superb.
That Strata would be a good way to use up leftover Easter Ham. I’d serve it with a green salad and deviled eggs.
I serve it with green eggs
Thanks mom
Everything with butter and toasted bread crumbs is better!
Anyone else notice Martha constantly interrupts her guests and never lets them talk lol
As much as I appreciate her knowledge and ability, she's terrible at sharing the screen, sometimes to the point of rude.
She's usually better at going off script and brings a bit of playful verbal back and forth with male guests. Usually😅
Stop guys
Yes. It’s all about Martha!
It was particularly bad on this episode.
Wonderful recipes! Thank you! 🥬🥦🥕🌼
Shepherds pie is always lamb. Cottage pie is beef because Shepherds look after sheep.😅
Martha, I have been a fan since I was a child. And, your mispronunciation of Vidalia has driven me nuts for most of that time. It's vie-dayuh.
Thank you! I was yelling at the screen ha ha!! NOBODY pronounces it that way from the South.
Never heard it as vie-dayuh. Isn't it spoken as vie-DAL-yuh?
Can’t wait to try the Strata!
Yummy ❤
Martha has nice hair!
she's got some impressive casserole ideas.
Good Morning
Good morning 😊
In Ireland we call those turnips lots of recipes for them love you Martha but let your guests finish a sentence please
That really looks delicious I wonder if it’ll be good on top of other casseroles.

poor Martha has control issues . . . . love the recipes . . . let the guests take charge.
Her guest sucked. If anything, she saved the situation. Do you need something?

The finished casserole should be browned on top - nice recipe but needs browning and crusty on top.

Vidalia is pronounced 'və-ˈdāl-yə
