Oh I love love love Ayano-san!! She was my favorite Geiko so it's always really fun to see her as a Maiko. I've never seen this dance before, but it's really very beautiful.
@@angelabby2379 she was definitely a maiko at the time of this recording, not just from the makeup (geiko makeup and senior maiko makeup is really similar). She's actually a senior maiko since she's wearing a cream embroidered collar and ofuku hair style. What makes you think her form needs work? To me, seeing this dance quite a few times, it looks really good to me. Ayano-san was known for her bubbly personality and dancing prowess, which is saying something especially with her being the first maiko to debut from her brand new okiya in Gion Kobu, she had a lot to prove and became really popular ^^
Superb presentation and performance by this graceful dancer, and excellent musician for her. Good voice and instrument. This must have been a joy to experience live. I find these performances very soothing and uplifting. It seems to reflect nature and the elements. The music also sounds like natural things. I love the backs of the necks. Greetings from Paris, France. Uprated.
The more I see videos like this, the more I get drawn into the music and singing. I can see why some might find it grating, but I find it very haunting and beautiful.
@NobodyOfTheTardis if you look at the back it is red. a junior maiko wears a collar with red and white (and some other colors sometimes) in the front, red in the back, senior maiko wear white in front, red in back, and geiko wear white all the way around.
maiko ayano(彩乃)is clever and skilful in dancing ,mtraditional music and so on. this dance(君に扇)needs high class of movement of body cotrol. now,she is most senior maiko in gion koubu(祇園甲部).
It's quite surprising finding! Ayano-chan is dancing with a pair of dancing fans with a Kamon of Inoueryuu (family crest of Inoue School) and five lines which means she has been already awarded the first Natori (i.e. a Name of the First master grade). It's great! Now she would be a Geiko because she should have done Erikae in 2011 or 2012. I wonder about what level of dancing skills she has achieved now. If someone has video of her resent dancing, please upload and share. Thanks. Oct.27 2013
Hey, the part describing the lines on a dancing fan caught my attention. I didn't know the fan reveals a certain rank. Could you please explain more or can I read about this somewhere? Thank you very much!
@@estermeryova1370 the amount of lines they get increases as they progress in their studies. The color is significant as well. Hers are red because she’s a maiko but if she became a geiko they’d be a deep navy/purple kind of color. If she became/becomes a Natori (certified master) she’d be able to dance Natori roles and use Natori fans. Those have beautiful a camellia flower on them instead of lines.
I think this genre is called Kamigata-uta. But there’s also jiuta and nagauta as well as hauta and kouta. That makes up the majority of their repertoire
Er... Maiko (which are apprentice geisha) don't wear white collars. They wear red. Actual geisha wear the white collar (unless times have changed and for some reason they have reversed this)
Their colors starts out red and as they progress it gets covered in more and more white embroidery until they get a full white color when they graduate to geiko
Ayano-san must've been older than that here... Nowadays girls usually start their training at age 15 when they graduate from junior high school. I think she has also already painted her upper lip, which is a sign that she has been a maiko for around a year or so and her eri is almost plain white, which means that she would soon beome geiko. In this video she was probably a senior maiko nearing her twenies.
It might be hard to enjoy if you're not familiar with the art. It is acting in form of dance where a story is told. One might not understand it if one doesn't know Japanese. These songs and dances are very old, some even around 300 years old. It's also really hard work on mastering the dance skills. It looks very effortless and that is the point. But it really isn't.
What were you even doing on this video then in the first place? Please go back to kindergarten and learn how to be polite for your own sake and just so you know I won't be answering to such stupid comments of yours anymore.
It's actually fairly important to notice those things, since most of the dancing takes place with those kinds of subtle movements.
Oh I love love love Ayano-san!! She was my favorite Geiko so it's always really fun to see her as a Maiko. I've never seen this dance before, but it's really very beautiful.
From her makeup its likely a maiko though, and her precision could use some work

Wonderful dexterity with the fans!

Wow beautiful, simply divine.
She's so graceful, its amazing to watch that precision 83
Beautiful Costume Tradition and Culture lovely.

What a beautyful flower dancing in the wind.
She's pretty and beautiful! Japanese culture is so magic!

Is the first time I see Ayano dancing, she is an amazing dancer, really graceful.
Thanks for question!
That means "Ogi(folding fan) for you"

lovely
She became Geiko in May 2012.
Amazing !!!
Is there a specific name for this kind of music being played? I find it quite soothing.

@stefaneko26
Thanks. ^^ so what's exactly is Kimi ni Ogi means? kimi is you or your right? so the tittle means "your fan"?
she's so graceful
her fans are very hypnotic
@NobodyOfTheTardis This is a real Maiko, her name is Ayano from Gion Kobu. I really don't know why she is wearing a white collar.
Beautiful
Ayano-san~ my favourite ♡
@NobodyOfTheTardis The only thing that puzzles me is the fact that the hair and obi are consistent with a Maiko... Now I'm confused...
WOW
Aaah...she makes it look so effortless! D:
Even her eyelids seem to part of the dance, and those two fans suggest the gaze.
Her hand movements (Without the fans) are absolutely beautiful and graceful. It's not bad that I'm complimenting/noticing her hands, right? o_e
Lovely! Thank you for sharing!
she is awesome with the fan!!
@Quetta12 Yes, "Kimi no Ôgi" means "fan to you" or "your fan".
do you have more video of Ayano?
Ayano is cute xxxxx
beautifull
CLAPPING!!!!!!!!!!! LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!
@Quetta12 An Ôgi is a fan, (and by the way maiko use a Maiôgi -> fan of dance)
The dance's name is "Kimi ni Ôgi".
Mesmerizing.
Yey Ayano, amazing talent and presence :D
This dance took my breath away...
@gravyfunky I believe the type of music is called a "kouta," I'm not sure of the literal meaning.
and she did beutifuly for a first timer
Wow, she's really talented :D
what a beautiful woman she is......
Ayano has tied obiage since February 10th, her erikae is scheduled on 28th May ^^
Er... Maiko (which are apprentice geisha) don't wear white collars. They wear red. Actual geisha wear the white collar (unless times have changed and for some reason they have reversed this)

Thank you for replying. I was wondering the same question!
@SuggestiveWhiteFluff

@starlightshimmers
Thanks.
what dance is this??
can someone tell me, what the song is about?
Two Fans (for you) is a tale between two lovers. The maiougi, are symbolic to the lovers: male and female.
VERY nice :)
@stefaneko26
what's Ogi?
I do I want to be a maiko
15 the age is atleast 15 at 14 she would have just finished training

Right at 1:00-1:01, she almost fumbled a fan
lindo
Karma!
What story is she telling?
You realize that she is a beginner and the movements are not yet perfectly mastered, but the makeup is good and the girl looks very sweet.
Well, by her dress she is in her fourth year of training. That's a lot of dancing!
coool
Uuuuuau
ja vi danças japonesas melhores do q essa !
who even enjoys this
me
