DREAM THEATER DID IT! 🤯 New album is almost ready!

Dream Theater completes writing their first studio album with the drummer Mike Portnoy In 15 Years... and according to themselves it came out amazing!
"Today is my last day behind this kit for a while…yes indeed, my drums for Dream Theater 16 are done!! But that is just the beginning…work will now continue in the coming months ahead on guitars, bass, keys, vocals, percussion (not to mention writing lyrics, mixing, mastering etc etc)
I really can’t divulge anything more as we are (purposefully) keeping a very tight lid on any & all info at this early stage…but I will say we are all BLOWN AWAY and sooo extremely excited about what we’ve created! We cannot wait for you all to hear this…but patience, all will be revealed in due time…😉😎 " said Mike Portnoy!

When do you think the new album will be out?

Taking into consideration that they still have to finish recording it, mixing, mastering and promotion, I'd say they'll release the album in Spring, or even Summer of next year

Since the news of the 40th anniversary tour, I think that the furthest in the future they might release it is probably October 2024.

Writing, creating and recording is the fun part. Mixing, producing, editing takes a lot longer. I expect a first single end of August.. But It wil be good, I promise.

What I would like to see is Myung and LaBrie also writing lyrics. It seens to me that it helps bringing more meaningfull lyrics, which have always been one of the main reasons I like DT.

True! Altho Myung and LaBrie write in a very opposite style. Myung with his abstract imagery and LaBrie with straight forward emotion
