I'm definitely someone who couldn't stop comparing this to the original. I felt it was at its best when it maintained certain parts of the original, and I thought it was at its worst where it differed. So, overall, I think it was fine, I liked it, but parts of it felt very boring and drawn out to me. Though I thought most of the cast was very good. It might just be, whichever you see first is the one you like best, but I hope you like the original too!
I watched the original for the first time last night. I actually preferred the remake, though I still enjoyed the original. It is rare for me to prefer the remake, but I just felt it actually improved on the characters, writing, and emotional/psychological depth of the story.
