    Wow, this girl is primed to be a gold medalist someday. She's doing some things at 13 that some of the older skaters must be envious of. Beautiful spins with power and grace. She makes her jumps without seeming to break a sweat. Impressive.

    I've seen it written by others; This young lady is a Russian Sasha Cohen. Julia is the whole"package" in ladies figure skating Beauty, grace, finesse, ease, jumps, choreography, etc.....AMAZING! I can't wait to see her develop and dazzle the skating world. Keep an eye on this young lady. She is a STAR.

    She does a level 4 layback and got 1.07 for GOE. To put this into perspective, no one in the top 10 got over a 1 for GOE in the short program on any of their elements and Julia got over 1 in 3 elements. There is nothing to fix. All the judges gave her a positive GOE for the layback. Three judges thought she deserved a +3 for it.

    it's not all flexibility and jumps. it's artistry and sport, like it has always been.

    no, you were telling me what you think figure skating is. I am neither a figure skater nor a contortionist but I can see the style and grace that both offer. Figure skating is always evolving, technically and artistically, a touch of flexibility and consistent jumping isn't going to take anything away from the sport given the skaters are properly coached and work with good choreographers. (Also, why would contortionists give figure skaters a bad name? ... that sounds awfully rude).

    I like her, and I will be seeing more of her as she competes against skaters like, Mao, Miki and Yu Na Kim. And yes, she's way better than my current Japanese favorite of mine, Mao.

    "well said, as it should be" but not alwayhs the case and not everybody!!! How often do u see the second triple toe loop off balance or smaller but with a quiicker rotation? ! This one is amazing! And i have been skating for 20 years!

    Sasha is also a contortionist. Did you not know of that? See America's hidden talent of the Stars, or something like that for proof. Anyway, Julia is very much like Sasha in many ways, as I see with Julia, she's the next Sasha! So why are you so bitter about this? Julia is such a very talented figure skater too!

    Well, Sasha had been doing just that before Julia Lipnitskaya did. And don't forget about the Swiss figure skaters in the past too. So please accept the fact that Julia is indeed the next Sasha. And yes, I do happen to like this beautiful Russian figure skater too!

    In the ice.network interview she said she can do all triple-triple combinations but she dooesnt do them in competition because they are still unstable

  • @gallantrycross

    Only Alissa Czisny has flexibility like Julia. I'd like to see Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Lipnitskaia face off. That would be interesting. I think Julia has staying power. She has the potential to be Worlds Sr. champion.

  • @anne91276

    oh dear, gallantrycrossm You forgot to mention Sasha, the figure skater. I don't get in the habit of saying her last name simply because I have the same last name.

  • @amychan363
    @amychan363 13 лет назад

    i hate how she kinda bobs up and down with her head+upper body after she lands a jump. it makes the jump look unstable and she doesnt have the solid core to land it.

  • @herm712
    @herm712 12 лет назад

    I agree. Her flexibility is incredible but Morosov has her doing leg extensions in lieu of actual choreography. That's not right and I hate that she scores so high in areas like choreography and transitions b/c she doesn't use those moves as either. Most of her extensions are a bit gratuitous and add nothing to the overall effect of the program. I think this girl has massive potential to be amazing, both technically and artistically...but that won't happen if she stays with Morosov...

      True. Beautiful and talented skater. I personally love to watch her but dislike this music that she is skating to.

  • @HelTra91
    @HelTra91 12 лет назад

    I think she meant the actual layback position, not the spin itself. The variations are beautiful but her first position doesn't do her flexibility justice, I think she can go much lower (for example compare it to Karen Chen's layback, you'll see the difference)

  • @Sumeow

    Oh no... she's bringing contortion to the ice

    .... flashing the judges? i think i know what you meant, but the wording... :P

  • @mcbob10
    @mcbob10 12 лет назад

    But to call it hideous? Because she chose to spin with her knees together instead of the classically extended free leg? Or because she bends her upper back more than her lower back the way Karen does? Because Michelle Kwan has done the exact same layback position.

    I thought that looked a little off. There wasn't the same level of grace displayed here that I would expect from someone involved in competition skating and she didn't look like she was taking her time with it at all. The thing looked rushed frankly and if that was in order to fit everything in, then her program is too long. It didn't fit the music, wasn't in time and it looked like every move was separate. It's meant to be smooth, seamless, not set-your-teeth-on-edge. I blame the choreographer.

    Can someone please for the love of god fix this girls layback?????? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IT'S HIDEOUS

  • @georgerobbins3
    @georgerobbins3 13 лет назад

    for someone so flexible you'd think she'd have a better layback position. overall she's not particularly impressive. her artistry is mediocre at best. as for the technique wait until she done growing and we'll see.

  • @VWYL900802
    @VWYL900802 12 лет назад

    this is NOT a touch of flexibility. and I don't mean contortionists gives figure skaters a bad name, I mean the new wave of flexible skaters gives the figure skating community a bad name. originally, we have a history of skaters that made a name for themselves by being artistically creative. but this new army of flexible robots is basically getting rid of the artistic part of the sport thinking that it's artistic and forgetting the dance (or the actual artistic) part of skating.

  • @VWYL900802
    @VWYL900802 12 лет назад

    I'm just explaining why people are so critical about her skating. she and basically half of the american figure skating community are, like Sumeow said, bringing contortion to the ice. where's style and grace? gives a bad name to us skaters.
