Over the years, Kellogg's has had some trouble expanding beyond cereal and similar breakfast foods. They've made countless attempts but very few of them have worked out. This video talks what's been happening with the company from its inception until today while focusing on their cereal reliance.
Plus I prefer unfrosted Pop-Tarts. Be kind.

It's clear that I'm in the minority with my preference of unfrosted Pop-Tarts but I'm happy to say that my confession has encouraged others to speak up about their love for the unfrosted as well. I like to think this video has brought us one step closer to a world where we could all express our Pop-Tart preferences free from judgement. Aside from all that, I had a lot of fun making this video and I hope everyone had just as much fun watching it.
I don't buy pop tarts that often but I'll try it!
I think frosted is better but unfrosted is good too
I like the unfrosted ones but brown sugar cinnamon Pop tarts are sooooooo good. I don't buy them much since they are basically flour, sugar and other "sugars."
Company Man you’re not alone. I was deeply disheartened to discover my local grocery store has stopped carrying unfrosted pop-tarts.
I'm not really sure why exactly, but it seems like you had fun making this video. I don't know if it's because of whole poptart tangent at the beginning or you're just getting better at making your videos sound more casual or conversational, but whatever it is it just made me feel a bit more engaged with what you were saying. Anyway, I know its subtle but I just wanted to say I liked the video and to keep up the good work!
Also unfrosted poptarts are waaaaay better!

Kellogg’s is in trouble right now because of layoffs at Keebler and it’s much like what recently happened with Nestle. These companies aren’t focusing on improving their product lines. They buyout too many brands and fail to focus on their bottom line, do a video about Kraft buyout of Cadbury’s!
This!
Karft dinner sucks now
so kellogs is part of nestle? thats why on my country I noticed that the brand is dissapearing and been replaced with the nesttle logo. And the corn flakes are more expensive now. Nesttle is kinda premium brand here compared to other ones.
Kraft did HORRIBLE stuff to Cadbury. They replaced the buttermilk that made Cadbury taste so good with some artificial cheapo stuff. Have never bought a choccy bar from 'em since.
That, and people are starting to get tired of Nestle’s shit like buying water reserves because “it’s a product, not a right” according to Nestle’s CEO.

I worked for Kellogg’s of America for five years. You’d be shocked at what’s in the dough. I’m not talking about just white flour and shortening but the amount of insects were in the flour. The FDA passes it through as, “crude protein.” One time we saw a dead sparrow in the flour and the unit supervisor said, “well, would you look at that!” The dough would travel 300ft ovens so a lot of people are oblivious at what they’re exactly eating. I stopped eating Pop-tarts after that.
i keep hearing how different products from different companies put disgusting shit in their food, kind of like the movie "snowpiercer."
You just ended my pop tarts addiction...Thank you!
EVERY kind of food production has this though, In the UK we cave a big company called Birds Eye who sell frozen veg. The Kellogg bros basically invested the breakfast cereal and spent nearly a century making profits and doing what most corporations do that we see in Company Man: buy other big companies and failing brands to make themselves bigger with having to do anything but sign a check and put their name on the box!
For an actual breakfast the unfrosted are the way to go but if you are wanting a snack or to satisfy your sweet tooth then frosted all the way.
I work at Kellogg’s the Battle Creek Plant, and my sister works at World Head Quarters. We are 5th generation employees.

Great video dude. The unfrosted vs frosted strawberry...hmm I shall try it. In terms of Kellogs and their focus I would say they should definitely place some focus on more healthy cereals and experiment in that region, as well as cereal/breakfast bars as those are kind of both morning food and snacks.

The Road to Wellville, Anthony Hopkins played Doctor Kellogg. One of his best performances imo.
My wife used to work for Kellogg's as a stocker. She only stocked the non cereal products like Cheez-Its. I would always mess with her by telling her that Cheez-Its was a cereal.
My reasoning: Kelloggs being a cereal company, therefore Cheez-Its are a cereal.

I only buy unfrosted Pop-tarts. The frosting seems like plastic to me.
Unfrosted Pop Tarts bring me an intense feeling of nostalgia because I use to eat them as snacks when I was in Preschool.
I only eat the ones youre suppose to freeze like cookie dough. They dont make unfrosted for that.
Frosted blueberry only good flavor
We literally only have the frosted ones here
Also only two flavours lol
The worst ones are the 1990s flavours where the frosting are neon blue and green and look like someone did a bad copy of a Jackson Pollack painting, and the frosting doesn't taste like anything. Wild Berry.
I’m from London and first saw in frosted PopTarts there on a visit in 2016 in the “American Foods” booth at a mall...go figure. Looked for them when I got back to NY and found them months later. Fun fact: starting this winter, the Sun Bowl (college football game in El Paso) brought on Kellogg's as a sponsor, and the game will be known as the Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl in what is perhaps the greatest sponsorship name ever.
There was a 1994 movie called The Road To Wellville about John Harvey Kellogg's development of his cereal.
"Corn Pops" used to be "Sugar Pops".
Yeah, a lot of cereals in the '50s emphasized the "sugar", and then the names changed later on when sugar became less fashionable.
General mills brought the old trix cereal back that was a win for me . It's the only cereal that doesnt make me break out along with post fruity pebbles. If I eat Kelloggs frosted flakes & cocoa frosted flakes I break out in my skin alot.

I imagine that breakfast cereal companies were probably hurt badly by the death of Saturday morning cartoons. Back when I was a kid, I was exposed to commercials for cereal constantly this way, but my six year old niece now does most of her cartoon watching on subscription streaming services with no ads.
My favorite Kellogg's brand is Krave. I really loved the commercials, especially when I learned that Krave was an American version of Trésor.
Because Trésor had more commercials than Krave, they should bring them to America to promote their new boxes like Trésor did with their's. Maybe, make new ones for Krave's Strawberry and Cinnamon Crunches. Or perhaps, release Trésor's flavors as Krave.
The problem I had with the Tresor/Krave commercials are how there are spam comments on RUclips.
I only had Krave once, I was not a fan of it. Maybe I should go back and try them again.

Used to work for kelloggs. Under their snacks division (cheezit, Keebler). They went through a huge layoff a few yrs back and I was effected. Merchandisers, sales reps, truck drivers, warehouse workers and district managers were all let go. Something like 1300 people I think.
I also like unfrosted
Kellogg's founding deserves to be a film of it's own.

"Sanitas" means "toilets" in Portuguese.
Chevy's Nova means Doesn't Go in Spanish.
I have a friend of mine who is a Pop-Tart connoisseur. He only buys unfrosted because there is more jelly inside. The edges of smaller as opposed to a frosted Pop-Tart where the edges of sometimes half an inch all the way around. I'm a frosted man myself but I've noticed that the Frosted Pop-Tart has shrunk in size dramatically just in recent years. If the unfrosted is a little bigger I think I'm going to go in that direction
The problem with the cereal business is that it relies on milk and milk goes bad after a week or so, if you don't use it. The size of the average household has gone down big time in the last generation and milk is more likely to spoil since fewer people are using it per household. That makes milk an unattractive purchase. If Kellogg wants to solve to cereal crisis, they need to think about milk.
That’s why they make quarter gallon bottles of milk.
@@sourgreendolly7685 The expiration of milk and the last bite of cereal almost never coincide. It is not unlike the mismatch between numbers of hotdogs and buns but more annoying because food is actually going bad. And who wants to eat dry cereal without milk?!
Hey man, do one on Frys Electronics. They have been around for a while and word is they are going under!
I mostly eat cookie in cream in s’more pop tart I used too eat the strawberry pop tart but I stop eating them....
I used to get the unfrosted Apple ones that came in my dad’s MREs, those were my favorite pop tarts. They weren’t branded though, in fact they were even called something different like dessert pies, but I’m 98% sure they were just pop tarts.
If your top pick is strawberry, you’re relatively safe being a fan of unfrosted. It’s the nearly the only one you can find in stores. Brown sugar-cinnamon shows up often too. The rest? Not likely. It’s painfully clear that sales have convinced the stores that everyone loves confetti shellac because no other flavors are offered, least not in the NY/NJ region.
I’m a fan in particular of blueberry, so I just have to put up with the candy paint job they slather on them because you won’t find the unfrosted ones anywhere. I went online to see if they even existed anymore. They do, but you’ll have to order them online to get them, and I’m just not a fan of having food pantry items shipped to me. I like to just pick up this sort of thing when the mood strikes, not place an order and wait for delivery. I’ve been obsessively searching supermarkets for years for them, but shelf space is such a premium that stores just don’t want to waste it on anything but the best movers. You might hope that health conscious habits would have people looking for items that aren’t covered in wildly colored sugar plaster, but it’s still a lost cause unless you want the one flavor they deemed marketable.
That might be a video in itself - the items that are nearly always excluded from product lines on the shelves. I’m sure there’s plenty more examples.
Also, I’d love to see a look at what happened to Oscar Mayer Beef Franks. In the late 90s/early 2000s they changed them, and ruined a product I’d been using for several decades. They were never the best all-around hot dog for the regular bun-and-mustard style, but were a favorite for a few other recipes. That’s just gone now. The tangy chew toys that they sell now, even after adding “classic” to the name on the label, just don’t come close and I’d simply like to know what the reason was for changing them when they did after so long on the market with a reliable quality. New manufacturing methods? Healthier ingredients? They dropped the original recipe down a sewer grate by accident? They’ve joined my unfortunately growing list of things they still make but fouled up so badly they might as well not anymore (a list that just welcomed Diamond Crystal salt which is no longer “the finer salt”)
I'm still waiting for Kellogg's vs Capcom.
Tony The Tiger vs Ken will be a match to remember
If you want to learn more about John Harvey Kellogg listen to sawbones: a marital tour of misguided medicine. It's a really funny medical history podcast that I would highly recommend.

I think you’re right, consumers are far more health conscious of what they’re eating, or just opt to skip breakfast all together, in favor of eating something on the go. Who needs three meals in a day? That’s too many calories, so breakfast is the easiest one to skip.
Huh, I didn’t know they owned MorningStar Farms products. I’m not much for sweet stuff like cereals and pop tarts for breakfast, but I do buy the MSF sausage patties for breakfast sandwiches or to pair with eggs. Surprisingly delicious for being meatless.
