Britain consists of England, Wales and Scotland. The UK consists of those three and Northern Ireland, but back in the day, Ireland as a whole was part of Britain. A Union Jack is flown on a ship, on land it's the Union flag. Northern Ireland has an unofficial flag, the Ulster flag. The Red Lion because of a certain King. The head of State is the Monarch, but give power to Parliament. Also the Monarch can desolve Parliament, also open it. William the B*stard was his original name sake, then later coined as William the Conqueror. You can drink alcohol at the age of 5 in your private home, only selling it to someone comes under the 18 thing. Fish and Chips actually started in Lancashire, even as a Yorkshire lad I have to give credit to them. That London lot tries claiming things, it is funny when they do without knowing history. Many Welsh folk say that isn't the actual translation. Savvy as a chocolate tea pot is a term/phrase you might want to look-up in the sense to some of the things he's put across. I've heard that Geography Now claims certain things, but uses other people's works. So..? Many States in the US have more rainfall. The French thing was because of the Normans, then bits afterwards. The Flag of the UK is called the Union Jack ONLY WHEN ITS FLOWN ONBOARD A MILITARY SHIP, when flown from a building or vehicle its called the Union Flag
It absolutely isn't. This myth just won't die, and seems to originate with confusion about how the flag was first used, but there is written evidence of it being referred to as the Union Jack within 2-3 years of it's introduction. I speak as someone who used to 'correct' people as you just did, but I recommend spending some time looking into this. The true story is actually very interesting.
Our taxes related to healthcare are far less than you pay for health insurance. Plus Ambulances are free, prescription medication is cheap or in some cases free and no one in this country knows what a ‘co-pay’ is. We also never have any medical debts and there are no such things as ‘death panels’. But please, go on believing what you like, makes no difference to me.
As for the history stretching back to 6500 BC (number 12), technically that isn't history. It's prehistory. History is what was recorded, written down. Not archaeology. Nearly everywhere on Earth has prehistory (the exceptions being newly formed islands/regions due to volcanic eruptions).

@@iddjutt Basically, someone under 5 (in UK) can't break the law, so what they do is not illegal.
Helping them do it maybe illegal.
😊😊
By the way the word is 'titbit' Americans only say 'tidbit' because they are rather prudish and don't like 'rude' words.
@stuartmcivor2276 Don't they Blue Tits in Winter Then .My wife was always cold 🥶 in Winter .
One thing you have to remember about the NHS if you do not have a job and you cannot afford it you pay 0 and we still have private healthcare if you want to go that route and in taxes it costs about 300 to 400 pound per year about $350 to 470 how much does it cost to per month in Health insurance I know which one I'd pick
A few years ago Scotlands SNP (Scottish National Party) succeeded in obtaining permission from the UK government to hold a Scott’s only referendum as to whether Scotland could break away from the UK and become in independent country. This they did and had a Scotland wide referendum, the outcome was they failed to get a majority from the country. The people didn’t want to break away!!!
Cheers Aah Kid
Scot = singular, Scots = plural (no apostrophe because it's not possessive) Just one 't' in either case.
Scott is a personal name, not someone who is Scottish.
Red Lion Pubs are generally situated close to railway stations - it was the emblem of British Rail, before the privatisation.
Haggis (yes I watched till the end 😁) - what it's made of puts a lot of people off, but haggis is one of the tastiest dishes I've ever eaten. Highly recommended if you ever come to Scotland.
3 Lions for England - National Animal of Scotland is the Unicorn
An interesting bit of info...the 3 lions aren't actually lions but leopards. Love that we have a unicorn as our national animal, so fitting 🏴🦄
girl, the 18 to drink is correct, but you can also drink in pubs, at 16 and 17, with a meal, and with and adult, if the pub has the right license, its also legal to drink in the uk in private from years old
I live 20 miles from the UK's 3rd smallest 'city' [ Ely, Cambridgeshire ] and 20 miles away from the OG 'Peterborough' a city off 200k. Peterborough has a very similar climate to Houston, TX. TX has longer dry periods, but the rain and heat records in both places are not far apart.
Also Peterborough was the 6th driest place in the UK and I live in it's rain shadow =]8¬_D
hello, great video.
the reason why there's a north/south divide in ireland is...well...to put it in an american way, they had their own war of independence, but not everyone agreed.
the taxes of the NHS are quite low, the US pays much more for healthcare than we do already.
also HAGGIS!!
Haggis. I'm a UK revolutionary: I drink coffee, not tea, & way too much of it. Thanks for the fun reaction, Lanae.
Prior to the India tea company, coffee was the biggest hot beverage in the UK.
We only became tea drinkers because of the east India tea company and that helped fund wars.
body harvest was definitely up there for me 🙌🤓. n64 was epic. Brilliant reaction btw much respect Birmingham UK.
I was a chef for 3 decades ... love me some haggis!
Great vid, us Brits are on another level lol....
Haggis, neeps and tatties (mashed turnips and potatoes). Tastes incredible. But as the man says, you ain't getting it over there, you're not allowed delicious things as they might interrupt the constant flow of High Fructose Corn Syrup that Americans apparently need to survive.
Other random things that occur to me watching this:
- You should probably try to get hold of some British chocolate if you don't like the HFCS-laden American stuff. Anything by Cadbury UK is probably gold.
- Central Park in New York is a scaled-up version of Birkenhead Park. Birkenhead is just over the river from Liverpool, and also my birth town. (The smaller version of the park doesn't have a zoo, sadly.)
- My personal favourite term for fans of England/the UK? "Tea-aboos".
The Southern and Eastern side of Britain gets less rain than the Western side due to the Gulf Stream. London is statistically drier than New York, Paris and Sydney. If the weather pattern maintains as it has been then the South East of England will be arid by 2050.
You should check out a video called the british crudade against slavery and the battle of bamber bridge
If you are referring specifically to 'The British crusade against slavery', (which was a response to a Frankie Boyle article), it is no longer on youtube. All that's left are numerous reactions to it.
There is another one by a different author, but I couldn't actually find it before my battery runs out.
@@chrisbodum3621 well I guess the removing of content that challenges the common belief will always have an attempt to silence it
Craig now my fav Bond.. he obviously read the books! As did I.
us older generation with james bond, im 60, and i would say sean connery was the best, but i also get where your comming from, it was a different era, what your brought up with as well as the stunts and tch moves on as well
Please take this in, No pub in the UK is named as a “Pub” they have names strange and funny but distinctly a name, not calling it the thing it is that’s like like asking for Nan bread which is Indian for bread so bread bread,
HAGGIS!! I love Haggis and I am English. If you ever get the chance you should try it.
Haggis! Another Englishman here (though both my children currently live in Scotland), love neeps and tatties too.
One minute your'e a book "nerd", the next minute you've never read Shakespeare.
Shakespeare is horrible to read because they are plays and instead should be watched as plays.
Lanae our education about the US sucks as well so don't stress. 😊 Your sleep pattern sounds the same as mine I'm writing this at 2.30am.

Great kudos for watching Derry Girls Lanae. I will watch more!

Please react to Peter Kay Misheard Lyrics and also, Dave Allen Airplanes. Both are absolutely hysterical and will make you question both air travel and songs you have heard in a great way. Your reaction to 101 facts was a delight to watch. 🇬🇧😊
Hiya ,the reason it rains a lot in the Uk is that there are 3000 miles of Atlantic Ocean west of the Uk and little else, the wind in the Uk usually blows from the South West ,that means it has 3000 miles of the Atlantic to pick Moisture which then falls as rain when it reaches the Uk ,❤❤.
Hottest UK temperature now stands at 40.3c or 104.5f and our homes don't have aircon plus it's very humid here. Our homes are also brick built so it's like being cooked in a sauna within a clay oven with no way to escape it.
To be fair, it was only for one day; the next day, it struggled to get into the 20s.
@robertpayne4033 Thankfully.
The true story is actually very interesting.
already mentioned haggis... I was commenting in rel time. Stay lovely.
Haggis, ...and I love your laughter
Scottish hate being called British, but Scotland is part of Great Britain. Therefore, they're British.
No, only the separatists hate being called British. The majority, who voted to remain part of the UK in 2014, either don't mind, or are proud to be British.
'The taxes' are less than your health plans by about 40% [ with a ZERO deductible ]. Our 'private' ops are about half the price of US ones and NHS about a third of the cost.
_Do you then pay tax on top of your deductible?_
Haggis, very funny both on your part and the guy in the video.
There's so much to react on here about UK so why not have a look and try other topics like 10 best castles for example
its not 18 to drink its 18 to buy
its regarded as 18 years old, but you can drink in a pub at 16 and 17, subject to licence as long as your with and adult and your having a meal, but you can only drink beers, wine and cider no spirits, in private your home, or another private place, the legal age is 5 years old to drink
Haggis can be aggressive little creatures and you have to go out on dark, misty nights wearing a kilt to have a chance of bagging one. And they are impossible to kill 😂
In England, Scotland, and Wales, it is not illegal for children aged 5 to 17 to drink alcohol at home or on private property. However, it is not recommended, and the Chief Medical Officers say that an alcohol-free childhood is best
You can also take your children to a pub and buy alcohol for them.
Hiya ,he should have said you have to be 18 years old to buy alcohol in the UK ,the legal age to consume alcohol in the UK is Five,5 years old ,I know it seems unlikely nevertheless it is true ❤❤ .
Oh, if I recall (i was a licensee, but many years ago), that only applies to beer, cider and perry. There's no legal minimum age for spirits.
100F in England is unbearable because of how freaking humid it is. If it was dry heat it would still be awful, but tolerable.
Our taxes are lower than US Taxes, if we take into account how much you pay for health insurance for worst healthcare.
I Love Haggis With Gravy N Mash
Bullshit on where the queen spent most of her days she spent most of her days at balmoral castle in Scotland 🏴 and she passed passed away in balmoral castle .
Another fun fact from a personal perspective: in the aerial video shot for #13, you can see my old high school (we call them secondary schools here though)
Northern Ireland has its own flag tho its has red hand in middle or just type in Ulster Flag
That hasn't been the official flag since 1973.
@NataliePine But we still fly the flag even after Britain took on Northern Ireland so its still our flag
Brexit was basically a nation imposing tax on imports and exports, jingoism and racism were key factors.. thinking wasn't really present to most!
I loved Conkers bad fur day me and my friends always played Teddies vs Squirrels pvp and the Matrix level was so good 🤣
As a Scottish loyalist to the Union Jack and it’s struggle against being colonised I find you not knowing offensive 😜 anyway i just started watching this so I don’t know if it’s included but we led the way in ending slavery globally thanks to our abolitionist movement created as a consequence of William the conqueror banning skavery in British soil
The reason Wales has such a long named town is because they want people to visit think about the world's largest ball of string etc.
400 years of conflicts between England and Ireland.
And only one of those countries is still going on about it!
Haggis is good. I ate it in a Edinburgh shopping centre, yes we spell it centre and not center, centre is a French loan word IIRC.
I looove the ocean... 5 mins walk.
The King or Queen have the ultimate power - put it this way , imagine both houses in the US Government had to swear allegiance to the Presidents family BEFORE they were allowed to take their seats and vote, if you don't swear allegiance you are barred from taking your seat in Parliament and voting and you won't get paid.
That's just tradition. Officially, they have NO power, though I suspect they have an unhealthy influence.
Early football matches often ended in deaths.
Haggis... I first had haggis in Aberdeen back in 1979...deep fried in batter from the local chip shop...what can I say other than nom nom nom.
You can have 'medical' in the UK now. [ Curaleaf ]

hey just found your channel, no, your not stupid, i promise, there is so much history in the UK, from the roman times, even if you lived here, it would be hard to get it all
Check out shrovetide football there was a bit more to it than kicking a ball around.
Haggis! You should try it😊
Do yourself a favour and dont even ask about the whole Ireland northern Ireland thing. It's very very complicated and anything you say you will get hate from one side or another. All you need to know is that currently northern Ireland is part of the uk and the republic of Ireland is an independent country ( well sort of independent they have to answer to the overlords in Brussels)
Haggis! Hmm...that wasn't invented by Will S. Does it count>
Nice one👍
The whole of the UK will fit into Wyoming with a bit of room to spare
HAGGIS!
